The Sims 2....Share your screens and stories here!

They should announce that soon. They'll also be announcing the release date for the patch, too.

Maybe with the Mac delay, your version won't be so 'buggy',. Mine runs pretty well, but I have found a few bugs in it.

I did notice another neat thing in the game. I had two Sims playing chess. One pointed over the other's shoulder and basically said,"Hey, what's that?!?!". When the other Sim looked, he would cheat in the game!

Oh...and I have discovered some sloppy Sims who are pretty showy about bodily functions. I had a teen come up to the table where his brothers were eating and cut one. They were all laughing. So was I.....:teeth: It's great to let Sims be Sims.

I can't remember if I read this in TS2 Chat or on the BBS, but somebody mentioned trying simultaneous pregnancies....husband and wife. I was thinking about adding to Zapp and Phoebee's family, so why not. I kept sending Zapp out to stargaze with the telescope. The aliens finally came for him. As soon as he was dumped back on the lot, I had him run right upstairs to Woo Hoo with Phoebee. So they were both going to be 'Mothers". The gestations went pretty well. Jesse was a blossoming teen and a big help around the house. He had taken a job in the Culinary Track and was getting good grades in private school. Zapp and Phoebee are as close as ever.

Zapp gave birth to a girl, Claire.

Minutes later Phoebee went into labor. She gave birth to another girl, Clio. For the longest time, I was getting nothing but boys in births and here come two girls. As they became toddlers, some kind of bug kicked in or something. Claire was 'stuck' on her back on the ground. She couldn't be picked up or selected to check her mood, etc. This happened after one of the nannies kidnapped her. I'd read of this happening and followed Maxis advice of quitting and re-entering the lot. When I did, Claire was 'hanging' in front of Zapp.

I tried moving the family off the lot, putting them in a new house, etc. I finally had to lose Claire....:( I accomplished this by having a townie/best friend 'Move In' with the family. I then went to play Zapp's twin brother, Kiff. I had Kiff invite Zapp and family to move in. I moved all members in, except for Claire and the townie. Once they were isolated on a lot alone, I went into it. Claire was now 'hanging' in front of the townie. I quit the lot, put them in the family bin and deleted them. No more Claire....:(

Clio on the other hand is now a teen with a Knowledge Aspiration, like her brother Jesse. Funny though, in all that moving, Phoebee and Zapp have to go through all the Headmaster crap again....:(

You guys are so much further ahead than me! I'm basically in the burning down the kitchen, not enough money stage. And I agree, this version slows things down!

I have found a handy strategy for elevating cooking skills. Have Sims sit together and watch the Yummy Channel on TV. It raises fun and social levels, while gaining cooking skills.

I like to start young for cooking. I'll have the children study cooking, so they have some skill when they become teens with full kitchen access.

Wow, weird bug!

Nothing too interesting going on with my families lately!

Okay, I may be overlooking something obvious here, but does the game store the pictures you take anywhere other than the my documents/ea games/sims2/storytelling? I hate how the photos from all of the different families are jumbled up together in there! I like how Sims 1 separated them by household much better!

I agree! It seems that's the only place to find the snapshots.

Nice pics, loved em', THANKS!

How long does it take to be able to adopt again? I have one family who had 3 kids of their own, and wanted to adopt 3, well, I adopted Miss Claire, but about 2 sim hours later they took her away because she had an F! I had no time to get her grades better. And it was also strange, that they didn't take all the kids..hmm

So now the family has 5 kids, 3 boys and 2 girls, but the mom just "dropped" dead! So now William can't find any women that like him, therefore none will marry him. But it also wont let me adopt. Im stuck.

If the person trying to adopt has a memory of a child being takenaway, then they are no longer eligible for adoption. It is strange that the worker only took the one child.

I've resurected this post to ask you guys how you are doing w/ teaching your toddlers and getting them to grow into a child.

I'm having a terrible time at it.

I have a little birthday party for my little darlings and they blow out the candle on the cake. Then, they're exhausted so I put them in their crib. It seems like I'm just barely having them out for like a day and I get a message that they are growing into a child in one day.

I have a hard time potty training, talking, walking. The kid gets into a terrible bad mood and doesn't want to do anything. The moms are mad because they aren't having any fun. I tried inviting a nanny over so the mom could get some sleep and she walked the kid from the high chair to the crib (where the kid screamed her head off) back to the high chair (where the kid had a picture of a bed over his head and screamed it's head off) back to the crib back to the high chair. Meanwhile the bladder bar for the toddler is in the red.. . . . .

I've only had 2 babies and I think this is why!!! I must be a terrible mom! Unless you're training this kid like 24/7 sim time. . .

I get the message that the toddler is going to age into a child w/ some remark like you still have time to spend on the kid to teach it so that his next stage in life won't be as bad as this one:mad:

If you could give me some of your tips to a happy well trained toddler making a good transition I would much appreciate it.

TIA

Try the Smart Milk. It is an aspiration reward. Have whatever parent that is in either Gold or Platinum Aspiration level make the smart milk for the toddler. It helps them build skills faster. Once the toddler drinks it and glows green. Teach them to walk or talk or if their bladder is full potty train. Buy some toys for them. When they are low on fun they will automatically play with them.
These are the steps I usually use:
As soon as the toddler wakes - put them on the potty
If hungry, then feed them (I only use smart milk)
Then I either train them or let them play with a toy to gain fun and earn a skill pt.
I usually train them walk first, then potty. Ster that they will go by themselves. The last thing I do is teach them to talk.
Also use both parents.

If you get a nanny that is acting off, try tipping her. If that does not work fire her and hire another. Good Luck and Have fun.

Great advice!

It took a while for me to get the hang of Sim babies. I would get so mad at the nannies. My Sim Mom would put the toddler to bed, because the baby would be exhausted. The nanny would be right behind her, take the toddler to the high chair and leave it there. The kid would scream. I quit buying a high chair.

The toddlers will be very fussy, if their energy or hunger are in the red. Happy kids train faster. I end up using the 'rejuvenator' machine to keep the parents going through this period. I use the smart milk. Once the kids are taught to walk, talk and potty, I just let them play and do as they please. They gravitate towards toys that elevate their skills.

It took some practice , but I finally got the hang of it.

olena, that's what I forgot. The rejuvinator machine. I usually use that as well. Alot of times I have one parent who rarely sleeps during the whole toddler stage.

I do not bother buying the High chair anymore because I feed them the smart milk.

Has anyone had any of their Sims get the "jump bug" yet?

Thanks for the advice.

So, it's the smart milk.

What exactly is the Nanny's job? Does she help make things easier? Cause not from what I see. She seems to make the situation worse? So you say that some are betther than others?

Have you used any cheats in game play? If so, which and which ones really help?

Are you all good at building the houses? I find that I'm not because I'm having a hard time getting used to the levels and foundation and also in this game, I noticed you don't have to have as many blocks for the Sims to move around objects.

Have you tried downloading any houses from the Sims2.com?

I've been afraid too. I don't know why but I might try if other people have had success.

thanks for all of your help.

ForTheLoveofDisney, I love building houses. That is sort of a problem for me because I move my families constantly into nicer houses. I also download alot of houses from The Sims Resource. It is a paysite but they also offer free items.

The only cheats I use are : motherlode for 50,000 simoleons - I need money to build nice houses

I also use the aging off cheat when I am trying to develop an adult and I do not want them to transition to elder before they have a family or achieve career success.

For good tutorials for building with the many levels visit the following site
http://www.snootysims.com/sims2cheats.php
The info center has some great info and has really helped with my building.

re: the toddler training question, I think that I read that if you feed the kid smart milk, *plus* wear the thinking cap, they'll learn super fast!

My main cheat is the 'move_objects on' cheat. It's a space saver and I can delete weeds and roaches. I haven't built any houses. Eventually, I will pley more with build mode. I do make additions to existing homes though. I have downloaded some houses from TS2 Exchange. I downloaded a Haunted Mansion from there. It was great, except for all the weeds. It took a while for the lot to load and I have over a gig of RAM. I deleted the weeds and it runs much better. All lots I've downloaded come with occupants. There was an old witchy lady living in the Haunted Mansion. I killed her off in a fire. Then I moved some Haunted Mansion Sims in.....Madame Leota , Emma, Ezra, Edward, Elizabeth....the whole gang. I killed them off, so now it's haunted. I have yet to move in a new family.

Has anyone here paid for the Sims 2 Enhancer?

By the way, what's the jump bug I keep hearing about? I'm not sure I've experienced it. My Sims get the shakes after drinking espresso though.

From reading the Sims2 Tech Board, it seems this bug causes your Sims to "jump" out of social interactions. For example, they could be eating dinner with another sim and suddenly just "jump" from the chair and stand next to the table. In time it prevents almost all Social interaction. It also seems to be contagious and can spread thru families.

From what I read people seem to suspect it is caused by the chat/memory feature.

Hmmmm....I may have had that happen before but not often

I wish they'd get that patch released though.
