Today is a good day!

Woke up to temps above freezing, sun is out, ice is gone, had a great tempo run AND it’s registration day for TC 10 mile.

Glad you sorted the weather for me before I got home tonight

I sometimes miss turns on my easy runs around town. No way that I could memorize this many turns in a race setting. It’s crazy to think that’s the expectation.

I had originally planned on registering for (maybe) Loony, or maybe one of the 5k/10k, and then the 10 miler, but im a bit worried about how close it is to wine and dine, especially considering how sore I was/am after doing all the races this past weekend.

I have done it in the past, but that was when W&D was the first weekend in November, so there was a bigger buffer.

I think if you treat TC as a goal race and W&D as a fun run, you should be alright.

In the continuing Atlanta Half saga, the Atlanta Track Club posted this update:

Which, in brief summary, there was a police officer helping with the race struck by a car and the officer where the incorrect turn was made went to assist, which was part of the confusion of the moment. The ATC is going to match the 1st place prize money for McClain, and Hurley/Kurgat will split 2nd/3rd prize money as they were next to each other when they went off course. If I am reading it right, they are not removing prize money from the other runners, this is just adding to the effected runners. So, that seems like a good outcome on that side.

Now it is on the USATF for the spots on the team for the World Championships. I don't know what the rules are for spots at the Worlds (if there is a spot limit), but to me I just think you add these 3 to the team, but who knows.

You can probably do it as long as you train. Last year we ran the ATL 10 miler on Sunday (part of the Triple Peach) and then did all three W&D races on F, Sat, and Sunday. Nothing was too fast, but I was fine afterward and did park days after each race. And I’m guessing that I was much older than you are (70 at the time). Just doing the three W&D races this year because the 10 Miler is on the same weekend. We had to choose!

Well - I got my official “you were not selected” email. I’m fine with it. 2026 is about running Chicago and W&D.

2027 sounds like a good year for NYC.

My rejection email for NYC came through too. I think if my training commitment remains strong this year, I'll just bite the bullet and finally get a charity bib for next year's race.

In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy W&D this year, and think about doing either Space Coast or Philly for a fall marathon.

Still haven't gotten the rejection email, which is annoying since it makes me think there's still hope (there isn't). I wasn't going to run this year anyways, and next year will go through a travel group since the chances of getting in through the marathon might as well be zero.

I opened the space coast page yesterday to see the new 4 year series and thought “maybe if NY is a bust” don’t know if I can make another trip south between W&D and MW but definitely looking close.
