The Running Thread - 2026

The weather types are forecasting Snowmageddon/Icemageddon here in the Atlanta area. I just picked the DS2 up from work and the roads are still bone dry and most businesses are closed. It feels like driving around on Christmas Eve.
But it is coming, so we're now inside and enjoying a fire in the fireplace. Warm thoughts to everyone. Stay warm and safe.

I'm trying to make friends with the treadmill this winter, after many, many years of running in just about anything to avoid it. Getting too old for this. It's not bad if you're running less than an hour!

::checks treadmill plan for today and sees 100 minute run::
I did a 10k on the treadmill yesterday and have gone up to 3 hours in Dopey training when the weather's been bad. As much as I dislike long treadmill runs, the climate here makes it challenging to avoid and still keep up with training.

Looking at the long range forecast I have no idea when I'm running outside again....

I would prefer to run on the treadmill over running outside when it's below 45ish degrees.

Yeah, sorry, I just had one of those treadmill runs where I stare at the screen the entire time. I didn't miss 0.01 mile pass. Let's say I'm making peace with the treadmill more than friends. I'm sure this is character-building too :cutie: Heaven knows I can use more mental toughness training.

cover the screen. turn on a tv or a tablet or something.

I do 90% or more of my training on a treadmill. I don't mind it at all, actually. And same with our forecast, so it's a good thing I'm ok with it. I've been saving the Elizabeth Smart documentary to watch today during my long run (before football starts).
