Race Report: TCPride 2025 Rainbow Run 5K
It was super stormy last night, and I was up until about 12:30am finishing my hat, and I had to get up at 5:40 to leave in time to get parked before they closed the road. I got parked and ate a leisurely breakfast in my car, since I got there at 6:45 and the shuttles to the start didn't start until 7:30 (they didn't start loading until almost 8

) Also, I spent about 6 hours Saturday weeding, planting, and hauling paving stones and mulch with my Grandma
Then the shuttle driver didn't know that he wasn't going to be allowed to drive on the closed roads, even though they were closed for the race that hadn't started yet and all sorts of official vehicles were using them) and it ended up taking longer to drive to the start than it would have if I'd just walked from my parking ramp. But we got there with plenty of time to spare.
The course was really good, pretty close to flat and roads in reasonably good shape (for MN city roads, at least) There was a little crowd support at the beginning, but a lot more once we got on Hennepin Avenue and the pre-parade crowds were gathering. I got a lot of compliments on my skirt and hat throughout the day, so I feel better about the amount of time and effort that I put into them.
This was my fastest official 5K, and the actual time should be 37:03, since I got stuck at a traffic crossing for 22 seconds (I paused my watch) My watch measured the course at 3.01, but I'll take the official measurement because it makes me faster

After I finished and got my medal, random swag bag, and big cup of water, I walked back to my parking ramp to change into a dry shirt, wring out the back of my visor (I don't think I've ever had my head be that sweaty, even in some of our FL races) and drink some electrolyte-fortified water (2 bottles) and eat some King's Hawaiian rolls that I brought along before I went back up to the street to wait for the parade to start. There was a booth across the street with hot dogs and chips, so I went over and got some, and a Coke.
About 4 hours later, the parade finally ended (it was scheduled to start at 11, but was delayed by about a half hour) and I went back down to my car and made my very slow way home (lots of roads closed for the parade and Pride in general)
I would definitely do this race again, and I'd love to do a race on this route sometime when it's cold, I think I could break 35 minutes.
