A good training month. In Phase 2 of the Disney Marathon training plan where the focus has shifted to paced running. I'm surviving, but things are getting really tough. Ran the Haunted Hustle HM as a training run and was happy that I was able to hold myself back to a pace between M Tempo and LR. First time I've successfully not raced a race and stuck to the plan. November brings my "A" HM on 11/10, and then Phase 3 of the training plan (specificity and a dramatic increase in volume). I'm really hoping for a good performance on the HM to suggest that a sub-3 in Disney is a feasibility.

Headed to NYC tomorrow evening. I haven't even started packing, good thing I have a late flight. I have been so busy with my kids this week and arctic Halloween didn't help matters. Last week, I believe I had the flu--not really sure and not worth going to the doctor. I am still not quite 100%. Sunday's race will not be a PR attempt by any means, just looking for a fun, quick getaway with dh for the weekend, with a little running thrown in. I have backed off this month because I have also had a few pains in my fibula that sends my head into a tailspin.

I ended up with 132.10 miles (7:35 avg. pace) for October, which is my lowest since I broke my leg. To put it in perspective, September was 278.5 miles and that included tapering for Berlin. I haven't done more than a few 10 milers since Berlin. I have been doing a lot of elliptical this week, which ehh, is ok.

I will take it easy with the running until December.

October Mileage:
64.2 miles
Down 5 lbs
12 days plank streak going

I am pretty happy with this month. I did 21.1 in August and 31.7 in September so I more than doubled this month. I needed to take a couple of days off this month for tight calm muscles but overall I was hoping for 50 so I exceeded expectations. I mixed in various cross training from P90x and Insanity workouts as well as stationary bike.

My ankles have been feeling great so I may attempt back to back runs this mo this we will see.

My Garmin won’t sync right now!!!! It never uploaded my 50k from last weekend. 😡 Although it would be really easy to total my October miles (because that 50k was the only October run that didn’t upload), I’m just mad and not wanting to do it.
It’s really weird, because the watch is connected to the app, and the app will show up to date steps and heart rate for the day (won’t actually log them though). I can even update info on my watch face. It just gets a sync failed error. I’ve turned my watch on and off several times and my phone. Unpaired my watch. Removed the watch from the app. Nothing has helped. And now I’m going to have the W&D 5k and Half that probably won’t sync. I don’t want to lose all my data!!
I did send an email to Garmin. Hopefully they can help.
Just wanted to vent a little...

October Training:
Total Distance: 110.25 miles
Elevation Gain: 4757 feet
Average Pace: 10:11 min/mile

Week 7 of my @DopeyBadger training plan for the Disney World HM. I'm enjoying the training (mostly easy runs at low HR) and haven't missed any run!

We're heading into summer here and already had two 90F days this week. Somewhat worried about running outdoors instead of deploying my usual summer survival strategy (eating watermelon in air-conditioning)...

Have you tried plugging directly into the computer? Might be a corrupt file: https://forums.garmin.com/apps-soft...34052/activity-won-t-upload-to-garmin-connect

I've been having a similar issue with my FR935 recently. It just stopped automatically downloading the runs, but everything else uploads fine. The workaround that I've found to get them to upload (this is for iPhone) is to do the following in order:

  1. Turn off watch
  2. Force close the Connect app
  3. Turn on watch
  4. Open app
  5. Press the sync button in the app shortly after the watch shows as paired
In the few instances that this hasn't worked, turning the phone itself off between steps 2 and 3 has gotten it to work. It's an annoying issue. Good luck!

Wow, October seemed to go on forever from a training standpoint! This month I'll start with the summary:

October Totals
Running distance: 171.66 miles
Running time: 30:02:04
Avg pace: 10:32/mile
Avg HR: 147 bpm

The biggest note here is that the total mileage is a monthly PR for me by ~17 miles! The second thing that I find interesting is that while my average pace stayed constant, my average HR dropped by 6 bpm from September to October. I'd love to point at that as a nice boost in my fitness, but my gut feeling is that it's more down to a drop off in the temperature, leading to less stressful runs. October, with its high volume, was always going to be the make or break point on this training cycle, as I'm down to 4 weeks until Space Coast. This week has felt like it's leaning towards "break" as I started having some knee pains. More outside of running than during, but still... I have reached the end of life of my two current pairs of shoes, so I'm wondering (read: hoping) that maybe I pushed their usage a run or two too far and that has led to the knee discomfort. I replaced both pairs this week and today feels much better, even after an 11 miler last night with 7 at M tempo. Next week will be another near peak week and then I'll start trending towards a taper, so if I can get that one done without issue I'll be a happy camper. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it both ways, no help.
I’m guessing maybe it is a corrupt file like @DopeyBadger ’s link suggested. I’ll hopefully be able to fix it when I get home. On a side note, my laptop at home is really old, so we’ll see if I can get my watch connected to it...

Try calling Garmin tech support. They've been able to walk me through connectivity issues in the past. I think they've been having issues with the new iOS version and this seems to be happening to a number of people right now. It could be a corrupt file, but I doubt it given the number of similar issues I and others have had. If it's something they can walk you through, it will help ease your mind for the remainder of W&D, too.

ETA: It's happening to a lot of people regardless of iOS version, not just the new one.

I started having a little trouble synching when I updated the Garmin app last time. Not as bad as @MissLiss279 though, it just takes longer to sync than it used to. I have no suggestions, I just force close the app and try again and then with some delay my run shows up. I have a Forerunner 35 so a different watch.

October Totals

119.64 miles
Time: 19:53:41
Average HR: 160
Average Pace: 10:13

Almost exactly the same as September! The last week should have been higher but ah, life.

Marathon on Sunday!

I didn't even have much taper madness this time around - that means big PR, right?! Right?!?!

I totally forgot about the time change! I'm not doing Wine N Dine but I have a race Sunday morning at 7am. I have a show to go to with hubby at 9pm Sat night, and my family scheduled early Thanksgiving for noon that morning in another town, so I am already freaking out about fitting it all in.

@roxymama: just to clarify, fall back will add an hour to your life this weekend, so it only helps fit it all in. Gives us both an extra hour of sleep before our 7am race!! Good luck on Sunday!

October Training Summary
Total Miles: 121.6 miles
Total Time: 18:51:53
Average Pace: 9:18/mi
Average HR: 138/min

On a roll... two months in a row over 100 miles. Missed two runs (both easy runs) this month. Feeling good about where I am but would still like to improve speed back to where I was a couple years ago.

What corral did you get into this year? Looks like it is showing me as D. I think I'm always in C or D. Looks like we can look forward to 32 degrees at 7am but no snow or rain yet. I'm gonna wear layers for sure! brrrrrr

Also I'm going to expo when it opens tomorrow.

October:
24.82 Miles

Positives: Managed to pack a 3,400 sq ft house mostly by myself and complete a 2 day, 325 mile move that entailed overseeing unloads in 2 different cities 3 hours apart without hurting my back again. Irritated it yes, but did not hurt myself.

Did my first walk in the new city this morning; a nice 26* F at 7 am. No snow (that all went north), but lots of wet/damp leaves and slick pine needles. Fingers crossed November is going to go the way I want it to - there is a Frozen 12k in December that has a really cool medal I want to sign up for.
