The Running Thread - 2016

ATTQOTD: Before this year, it would have been 10 miles. Since my husband and I are both training for the Richmond full (previously one would run the full while the other ran the half), I've finagled my training schedule to get a couple of my longer runs in on his rest days. Instead of running Tues, Wed, Thurs, Sat and Sun, I run Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri and Sat. With the new change, my longest mid-week run jumped to 16 miles. I had to wake up at 3:45 to get it done before work. I am NOT a morning person, so it was awful.

Have to revise my goal for the Monumental Half to "Finish Upright" from 1:50:00. I've had a nightmare of a training season with too many hours at work and not enough training time. I should have been able to carve out more training time, but it just didn't get done.

QOTD: What is your longest midweek training run you have ever done that did not count as your long run?

ATTQOTD: 13.1 miles on a treadmill. 2 hours on the TM is not very fun, but at least i have a TV to watch.

Question for fun: How much of you kids candy have you eaten since trick or treat? More than i am proud of...
It couldn't have been much maybe 5 miles. I'd have to go back through my run history and look.

Well considering I'm still kind of a kid but also kind of an adult, I don't have kids, and my mom gave me a bag of KitKats and Reece's peanut butter cups. Let's just say I have dived into those no problem...

12 miles during a 6x1mi strength workout. 1.5 mile warmup + 6 x 1.5 miles (1 mile interval with 0.5 mile recovery) + 1.5 cool down = 12 miles

Not nearly enough.. thanks for reminding me. I will work on that tonight.

Now that you're kind of an adult, you can enjoy an even better holiday, the "Day of the Dead Discount Candy Day" :)

ATTQOTD: 9.6 miles has been my longest non-long run. I really enjoy running; It's a huge stress relief to me and time to think about a lot of stuff and plan out my day, week, month, life plans, etc. However, any time I run for more than an hour and a half, I find myself getting anxious, like I should be spending time doing other things, especially on a weekday! Does this happen to anyone else???

Question for fun: I don't have any kids.. We haven't gotten Trick Or Treaters in the past 2 years, so I purposely didn't buy any candy, because I knew I would eat it all ! But I came home from work on Halloween to find that my fiancé had bought Kit Kats AND Reese's .. my two biggest weaknesses!! True to fashion we didn't get any trick-or-treaters and I have eaten about 5 Reese's and 5 Kit Kats in the past 2 days.... Ooops......

ATTQOTD: 7 miles on Thursdays several times this last month...on a treadmill :crazy2:.
Kudos to all you double-digit weekday warriors out there :worship:!

RE: the candy. I've been sneakily throwing away pieces every night when my kid is asleep to "thin the herd"...is that evil?
She does a trick where she takes a piece from her bucket and when she sees I've caught her she comes and hands it to me and pretends it was for me all along "here mommy, a present." I've called her bluff a few times and ate them. She also says things like "I'll eat five bites of rice for a candy." She's figuring out new tricks daily to get more candy. So that's how I know genetics is real.

ATTQOTD - Looking back over the last few years, 10 miles would be my longest mid-week run. I do a lot of 8-10 mile tempo runs mid-week when training.

During this Dopey training cycle my Saturday run climbs to 12 miles the day before my Sunday run, which climbs to 24 miles. So, while that would not be "mid-week", it would not be my weekly long run, so I guess that counts and will be going up soon.

Hope everyone has a great race weekend at Wine and Dine or whereever else you are racing!! You are racing on my birthday weekend, hope that means good luck for everyone. :goodvibes Am actually thinking whether it would not be fun to run my first half marathon around my birthday next week and finally sign up for a Run Disney event with Wine and Dine next year... But I am not sure I will ever actually get to that distance. So far it seems that every time I hit around 10k, I end up with some sort of injury.

ATTQOTD: Only 6km, so a little under 4 miles.

ATTQOTD: Pfitizinger's had 14 and 15 milers midweek. I called them mid-week grinders because they just seemed to go on and on and on.

I didn't attack any of the kids candy...yet. We had a halloween party on Saturday there's still some cake leftover so I've been enjoying that.

Which of his plans are you following? 18/55 18/70? I decided to combine the 55 and 70 mpw program and should hit a peak around 63 - 65mpw. I was supposed to do 14 last night but stopped at 13. Those midweek "MLR" are indeed grinders. I also think the midweek 8-10 milers with 4-5 miles at HMRP are a nice challenge. I have to admit though, I am slacking on performing the workouts as prescribed because... well life happens. After our trip, i am going to be much more disciplined.

Hi all, I went to the doctor and he said it's just some tendonitis probably from the new shoes I wore last week a few days in a row and then aggravated by running. So I'm going to RICE and wait it out.

QOTD: With a new month comes new goals. What are your running goals for November?
Get healthy so I can run for the most part. I'm thinking It will be a low mileage month. Also maybe try and find better winter running clothes.

I think I like how your kid operates. :)

Good luck to everyone with races this weekend!

I think my longest weekday run was probably around 5 miles. No kids here but we did still have some candy :) We just happened to have 2 pieces left-over after trick or treating which was the perfect number for me an my husband. A little Halloween treat but no risk of over indulging.
