Wow, over 40 pages since I last checked in. Can't catch up, so I am going to try to jump back in from here.
Life got crazy busy for a while and I ended up with an unfortunate injury. Most annoying part is the injury was not from running, but has me completely out of running. I was moving a bed in a very awkward position where I had to lift it, but remain bent over because of a low ceiling. I got a bad (possibly torn) high hamstring strain. Its been a month and I still can't run. Even walking quickly still hurts. I've been in PT and they tell me these are hard to heal. I am really starting to be concerned I will have to defer my entry into the Marine Corp Marathon. I have about a month until the deferrals open for the race. Its been 4 weeks since I ran and although I am doing some cross training its just not the same. I really miss running and am feeling very out of sorts without my regular runs. It is frustrating because I was really starting to settle in to my training for my first full and had seen some great benefits from heart rate training. So depressing!
ATTQOTD: I race in my long run shoes. I am not super fast, so I feel no need to switch to a lighter shoe for racing. Like others, I have struggled to find shoes I love. I currently have 4 pairs of sneakers. I used to love the Ghost, but hated the 7s, and the 8s are not great for me either. So I use them as cross training and day to day walking around shoes. I love my Saucony Triumph for short runs, but tend to get blisters in them over 6 miles. My long run shoe is the Brooks Defyance. I like it and it doesn't bother me at all, but I don't love it, and I do wish it were a bit lighter. I had been planning on trying the glycerin as my next long run shoe, but with no miles in 28 days, I don't know that I will need to get new shoes soon. I was also considering the NB 1080. I have 680s for cross trainers/day to day, and like those a lot.
