The Running Thread - 2016

Has Memory Maker always been $149.00?

In my recent memory, yes. You can some times catch a break if they are running a special where you purchase it with your package or you pre-purchase it separately at least three days before your trip. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.

Just ran my first 10k this last weekend. I didn't realize when I signed up for it what a small 10k run it was (only a little over 100 people). Someone completed it in just shy of 34 minutes! I finished in 1:22. Lol. Reminder to myself that it is about putting miles under the feet and not the time it takes to get there.

Has Memory Maker always been $149.00?

In 2014, there was a promo with a RO discount and free memory maker. It was $149 regularly at that time. In 2015, they increased to cost to $169. Later they lowered it back to $149 before the end of 2015 and gave credits to anyone who had purchased it at the higher rate.

October goals:
1. Not go crazy during the taper :crazy2:
2. Stay healthy
3. Get my head straight for this marathon. My long runs have been awful, all but one - that's messed with my confidence. I also feel like this race is not going to be fun. It's not Disney. I'm not travelling. I'm not wearing a tutu. I have to go to work the next day. Not FUN! So yes, I've got to get my head in the right place if I want to finish and hopefully PR.

October goals:

1. Stick to my training plan. Been a little tough the last few weeks with my oldest being tracked out of school, sickness, etc
2. Complete my October half marathon in the standing position. Not been able to get out and train for hills like I should have.
3. Stay healthy!

@LSUlakes, could you please add the Race 13.1 Durham half marathon on December 10th to the race list for me? No time goal. Just gong to use it as a training run with family.

October Goals:

1. Stay healthy!
2. Continue to make it to the gym 2 times a week and run 2-3 times a week. The gym is a challenge as I'm no longer using a trainer and do not have that monetary incentive to go.
3. Find a new place to run that is safe at night so that I do not have to do all my winter training on the treadmill.

QOTD: What are your running goals for the month of October?
Aside from training runs every other day, my goal this month is a bit different - DD, DW, and I are flying out to Vegas to run in the Lake Powell half marathon, and our collective aim is to help DW set a new PR of under 3 hours without hurting herself. She runs and cross-trains (I hear lots of Jillian Michaels shouting from the basement when she does), but tends to strain something whenever she goes longer than 10K, so the plan is nice and easy with a healthy walk/run ratio and lots of photo ops. Thankfully after a really cool bluff trail run overlooking the lake and a bridge crossing next to Glen Canyon dam it's a gentle and gradual downhill point-to-point course, so we should be ok.

Local marathon on not, I am taking the day off from work after a marathon.

ATTQOTD: October goals for a "woman of a certain age":

1. Follow my modified Galloway Dopey training plan (4 runs per week, run/walk both the 7 and 17 mile back to back)
2. Mileage up to to 130+ (for a slow person, that's a big time investment)
3. Finish the Atlanta 10 Miler
4. Not get injured

Advantage of being older: RETIRED
