I went to the resale site of "she who will not be named" yesterday....she had 5 resales....today she has 13!!

Coincidence? I doubt it. People are just beginning to sell off points that they really don't need.

I wonder how many people have called in the last 24 hrs to cancel their waitlists?

It seems the add-on market may be all but dead for awhile. I wonder if DVC realized that people would stop adding of if they made these changes? I think the cure for "add-on-itis" might just have been discovered!!

I don't get it. It really isn't a change from what I always perceived. Why is the enforcement of a policy causing folks to sell off contracts? Sorry, but I just don't get it. :confused3

Actually if there were only five yesterday then inventory was VERY low. I get the emails from this source and always have about the same as today's emails. (As a matter of fact she only listed three new contracts on today's emails and I think they may be from the same seller, all the same resort and use year.)

I just reviewed the email. Some of those have been there a while. I recongnize them from last week.

Although the percentage of increase is staggering (160%) , the small sample size may not necessarily indicate the total collapse of the timeshare resale industry.

She may have just updated her website. :badpc:

I'm gonna wait and see how the Fed reacts before making any big moves. popcorn::

:disrocks:

If anythng, I would think it would increase the add-ons for those with small contracts or those wishing to pad previous small add-ons not decrease them.

TTS posted 34 new listings in the last 48 hrs. That does seem like an awful lot...even for them.

I also have to wonder if those folks rushing to sell understand who it actually affects...look at the number of posts here on the DIS with questions about how it affects people with add-ons at a different resort than their home resort, etc. Folks may veryy well be confused about the difference between transferring and banking/borrowing.

I'd bet DD4-going-on-24's lunch money the people who have listed their DVC contracts in the last 24 hours have no clue what we're talking about.

There's no doubt, any owner with a contract they've been using for the transfer/rent loophole is going to bailout now while the resale value is still high. DVD may have solved their little MS problem by creating a ROFR monster, at least in the near term.

And that's probably true, as well...that the perceived "jump" in resales is just coincidence.

I don't know about you guys, but I just saw a stripped 1156 OKW contract up for sale.

Perhaps the lemmings are running?

Makes one wonder?

I'd tend to agree here, I'd even be willing to rise the pot with DS's lunch money--and he is a verocious 15yo!

That's probably true. Seems to me it took a few days to list my resale. I had to sign the contract and my broker required that I send them permission to verify my ownership etc with DVC prior to listing. Took about a week minumum (I remember getting antsy waiting)

Can someone tell me what this is all about. Have I missed something that I should have been keeping up on. Could someone explain the change to my contract.

I feel bad for those people with 1000+ point contracts. Now people are scared of buying a contract that large. There is one that I think has been posted for over 1 year. At this point I would consider selling to someone I know at a low price and hope that Disney exercises ROFR.

They're the cute little guys you'll find sitting in the back of those blue DVC vans.

rodents that follow each other into the sea simply because the one in front is going.

Personally I think it is all a Chicken Little syndrome and see no connection.

Lemmings are small mouse-like rodents whose populations surge then diminish about every 3 to 4 years. There is a myth that the decline in population is caused by mass suicide (ie a whole "herd" blindly following one another over a cliff. like beaching whales). However, the myth is so strong and persistent that even the classic video game "Lemmings" is based upon this supposed trait.
