The rich are different, or

Wow. We're a judgmental bunch.

I read the whole article, but gave up reading the comments on this thread. She didn't write the article. And I didn't really see anything in it where she was complaining. She actually seemed pretty upbeat. She still volunteers, she still donates to charity.

And maybe she likes her jeans :confused3

Why the shaking head?

I don't get what the problem here is. When somebody is used to living off of more, it can be difficult to get by on $300,000/yr.

I agree with this. The article was in the woman's perspective/experience, and for her, it's a huge change. I didn't get that she was whining, just missing what she's used to.

Imagine if any middle income families came upon hard times and had to give up their cable/satellite TV, take their kids out of dance class, and sell one of their two cars...it would change their life and they wouldn't like the way they now have to live. And if they talk about how hard it is not to be able to watch the ball games on Satellite anymore, a poor person would think they were spoiled.

I'm not in the $300,000 a year bracket, but I understand her point of view. I've felt it myself on a smaller scale.

I don't have much sympathy for her either. Here's a thought, how about if she does the gardening and maintains the pool herself like us po' folks do.

If she has 3 acres of land, I'm guessing she has exquisit landscaping, and if it's not kept up, it would make the property look like a piece of junk. i don't think the neighbors would appreciate that.

Pool maintenance I can see her and her kids doing.
