Does anyone know why amazon.com lists the Rescuers as coming out tomorrow (along with Atlantis 2, and 20Klots), and some guy here:
http://www.dvdfile.com/software/review/dvd-video_6/rescuers.html

has reviewed it, but disneystore.com or disneydvd.com make no mention of it, the disney store knows nothing about it, and it isn't on disney's release schedule??

After it was announced last year and didn't come out, I'm not sure what to make of it-

For some reason, Disney is doing a TERRIBLE job of publicizing tomorrow's release of both The Rescuers and The Love Bug SE on DVD. It seems like hardly anyone knows about them.

I guess since they have four major titles coming out in one day (why exactly did they make that move?) Atlantis II and 20K are the two they think people will want to buy the most.

Btw, tomorrow's a big day for DVD re-releases, too: The Aristocats, Pete's Dragon, The Rookie and Hercules. Same discs, same price, new previews!

As of today, disneystore.com has the Rescuers, Aristocats, Hercules, and Rescuers Down Under, on sale for $14.99 - wow - first day of release on already on the bargain bin - and disneydvd.com still has no word on Herbie or the Rescuers coming out - their strategy confuses me. Really, the only advertising has been for Atlantis 2.

Oh my!
I had no idea The Rescuers were coming out on DVD!
Now I have to run to the store.

Well, don't run to the disney store, because they have no idea that it is coming out today, either, and they don't have it. At least the two in our area. As unbelievable as that sounds, with all the movies that are released today, they have only atlantis 2.

The best buy here does not have the rescuers or Herbie, but they do have 20Kluts ($19.99). Bestbuy.com has all three, with the rescuers being $24.99). Amazon.com has all three (Rescuers = $22.49). The best price for the rescuers seems to be disneystore.com at $14.99 (along with the re-releases of Hercules, Rescuers Down Under, Aristocats at $14.99). Amazingly enough, however, disneystore.com doesn't have Herbie or 20Kluts. disneydvd.com has a "buy now" link for 20Kluts to disneystore.com, but the disneystore.com page that opens shows the dvd information but says the item is not available.

I am not sure why Disney is doing this. Are they trying to undermine the Disney store? Are they trying so hard to prove that the "vault disney" style two-dvd sets won't sell that they are hiding the release of them? Is the communication between different units just that bad? What the hell is the thinking here?? It makes no sense at all!!

Well, you can't order the rescuers dvd from disneystore.com, either:

We're sorry.
This product is no longer available.

right above where it says:
This item is in stock. For Region 1(US and Canada) only.

and now it says
Please Note
The item(s) listed below is no longer available and has been removed from your Shopping Cart.
''The Rescuers'' DVD

freaking amazing.

I just spent a while on the phone with disneystore.com support.

They had it for sale this morning, then pulled it, because it is supposed to be in next week's disney catalog that comes out on the 27th, so they decided to wait for the catalog to come out. They are saying that they don't have any inventory of it.

You can still put it in your shopping cart, then it takes it out when you try to check out.

There really should be a Simpsons-style "Yoink!" accompanying that action...

Well, it is Tuesday the 27th. Sure enough, a disney catalog came in today's mail. Sure enough, there was the Rescuers DVD in the catalog, $14.99. So I get out the disney card and the phone, and guess what. They don't have any. Something about not having any delivered to the wharehouse. I asked if I could back order it, then, but she said I could just call back Thursday or Friday.
