GCSE (in Britain)
abbreviation for General Certificate of Secondary Education: a public examination in specified subjects for 16-year-old schoolchildren.
I go to a grammar school, so we take 'em early.
if you wanna get into university, you need minimum 5 GCSE's and you need A's in a lot of subjects.

I have to do French, history, english lit; english lang; RS shortcourse, pe, food tech, media, business studies, maths and triple science (physics, chemistry and biology)

In 3rd-8th grade, you take EOG's (end of grade tests)
3rd grade- reading and math
4th grade- reading, math, and writing
5th grade- reading, math, and science
6th grade- reading and math
7th grade- reading, math, writing (split into science and social studies)
8th grade- reading, math, and science (AND on top of that since I'm a year ahead on math, I had to take the Algebra EOC!)
9th grade- EOC (end of course test) and midterms
10th grade- EOC and midterms
11th grade- EOC, PSAT (practice scholastic aptitute test), SAT (scholastic aptiture test) [SAT's are the biggest test of your life. If you don't do well on that, no way you're getting into college] and midterms (11th grade is supposed to be your hardest year of high school)
12th grade- EOC's and midterms (and SAT if you didn't take it in 11th grade)

Well, that's how it's done in NC. Other states call their EOG's different things. Just depending on the state.
