Staying here this year.its on highway 192 next to the nikki bird and econolodge hawaiian.Been on i drive 3 times ,but want to try this area.
What is it like for any of you that have been ????

:smooth:

We stayed there several years ago. They have tower rooms and motel style rooms. The rooms were quite large and clean, but somewhat run down. It is an older place and it shows. They may have renovated since we were there. We were in the back, in the motel section and it was convenient to be able to park near the room. I didn't really care for the 192 area, there was lots of traffic although we were able to get to the parks fairly quickly. It will be quicker to get to WDW than it is from International Dr. I personally like the Lake Buena Vista area better. What kind of rate did you get?

£800 each for my wife and I and £49 and £199 for both my children for 3 weeks.
We as a family will have paid £2000 for 3 weeks.
What are the pool and basic facilities like,,,such as shops and restaurant ????

We stayed there in 2001. We got the room through Priceline. The motel style room we got had a mildew smell, since my son has asthma I asked to move. Was told we could get a Tower room for $20 extra a night. First, I looked at another motel style room. DH didn't like that one (TV didn't work). Then I talked to another person at the front desk, she said she could give me a Tower room (for $10 extra a night) that had 2 king beds. She gave me the key and said to look at it and decide. The room was great. You could see Disney World in the distance, had 2 king size beds, a refrigerator. It was well worth the extra money for us. Was one of the nicer rooms we have had in Orlando.

I will be staying here at the end of our 9 night stay.
(2 nights at Ramada)..........
I booked via cheaphotels.com.......
Total price, including taxes, etc for two nights $130.
With a refrigerator. I guess not bad.
How can I call and ask for a tower? Just call and have them add the price over phone with card?
Sounds like tower room is better..........I would assume that I am not booked at the tower part now...........

My inlaws booked a room here for our last trip. Their travel agent in Australia had booked it for them.

We warned them that we'd heard not so good reviews but they kept the reservation anyway.

They ended up with a room in the motel part and they said they were really bad.

Thankfully we had booked a 2 bedroom at OKW because we suspected they wouldn't be satisfied. They checked out immediately and stayed with us in our villa. If they would have been forced to stay at the Ramada, it would have made the trip so much less enjoyable.

The Ramada also charges to transfer to the parks. They only transfer to Epcot for free, you are on your own from there.

I've heard (aside from this thread) that the tower rooms are decent, but unless you are guaranteed a tower room, you may want to consider staying elsewhere.

stayed here last year thru a timeshare deal offered by Fairfield. This place is nasty, nasty, nasty!! sticky floors in the bathroom & sink/mirror area (like it was mopped with dirty mop water). it smelled nasty, had ugly almost shag style dark carpeting (so you cant see the nasty dirt). My daughter walked around with socks on instead of shoes & her socks from the time we were there had to be thrown out like she was walking around outside without shoes. I will NEVER NEVER stay here again. I didnt even list them in my list of hotels in my signature this place was so bad. They offered an upgrade for $20 extra bux a night to the tower rooms so we walked up to check it out & it was not worth the extra fees, just as dirty looking. Also, the water pipes are loud & you can hear every time someone flushes the toilet, runs the water in the sink or takes a shower from all the rooms surrounding you (mind you, I live in an apartment & am used to that type of noise, but this was way worse)

if you can, try to book elsewhere, even if it costs you alittle bit more. you will probably take one look at the room & want to leave & have to pay higher fees at another hotel that you didnt book in advance. $130 bux for 2 nights is so not worth it. for that price you can book a 2 bedroom condo at Cypress Pointe on hotelkingdom.com ($63.99 per night)

I couldnt handle 2 nights let alone 3 weeks at this hotel, I strongly urge you to possibly lookiinto another hotel if you are able to change your reservations.....

Do you mind if I ask your opinion on the following seclections then?
These two days are pretty much free days to enjoy the sun and fun in Florida. (Sat. and Sunday - Fly home Monday)
We may want to visit Kennedy Space Center Sunday ....

(1) Radisson - Lake Buena Vista
(2) Sheraton - Safari -Apopka-Vineland Road, Orlando
(3) Holiday Inn - Sunspree Resort
(4) Adam's Mark Orlando (Sand Lake Road)

Hermosa11....We have also stayed at the Radisson LBV (several years ago) unless it has changed it is a much nicer hotel than the Ramada Gateway. It had a nice pool, a little playground and IMO a better location. Never stayed at HI Sunspree but haven't heard very good things about it. Can't help you with any of the others.

Well, I tried to change, but just was not CERTAIN of a new choice and did not want to risk changing again later and having to pay the cancellation fee....so, I just am keeping the ressie and have a tower room. I will cross my fingers and hope for a decent/clean room. Thanks though! At least I am confirmed for a Tower room.
At least I don't really need a pool (will be too busy doing last minute roaming before flying home and no need for transportation to parks (have car) and will be thru visiting parks by time we check in (only for 2 nights).

Not sure when everyone stayed..some mentioned a couple of years ago. Late last year, this Ramada was bought by the same person that owns Westgate Resorts. They have been doing some renovations to the rooms. Prior to that it was in bankruptcy and the company that owned it at the time did very little work on it.

I haven't stayed there myself, but did have a banquet to go to at the hotel just last weekend. The students who came in from other colleges seemed to like their rooms. The common areas of the hotel were nice and clean and the pool looked very nice. There are two pool tables in the common area that can be used.

I hope your stay goes well.

Thank you sooo much! so cool speaking to a local native!!! Your opinion is much appreciated. :wave2: ::MinnieMo  :wave2:
