The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

You would fit in well at my house -- Chelsea is currently pouting because I told her she had 30 minutes. She said, "That's so not fair!" My reply was, "oh well, I'm the mom!"

Actually, I was channeling the tween pout. I knew you'd recognize it!:rotfl2:

You'll get a morning update, I guess. :(

Actually, that's cool by me. Something to look forward to!:goodvibes

Doesn't she know there are antsy DISers waiting? :rotfl2:

Has she read your ptr and tr?

Apparently that doesn't hold any sway with her! I am on the good keyboarding computer now, though!

Nope, she hasn't read any of it.

I have become an expert at recognizing the tween pout!

So, having sat through about half of the HSM show, I realized that I just couldn't stomach any more hyperactive singing teenagers -- or hyperactive singing young adults pretending to be hyperactive singing teenagers, and we headed towards the front entrance to meet Charles.

Upon our joyous reunion Charles immediately went to buy a coke. While we were waiting Chelsea let out a screech, "There's my main man, Bo!" and took off! Well, I certainly wasn't expecting Bo to be quite what he was.

I am torn about Bo. Should I be secretly thankful or concerned that my daughter is drawn to a wooden, inanimate rendering of a man whose sole purpose appears to be to smile and hand out cokes??? Clearly, I need to think about this some more.

Since we had no place that we had to rush to, it seemed like a good time to get a group photo. Unfortunately, Connor was not feeling photogenic. This, believe it or not, was the best of the group.

I think the sun was in his eyes. Chelsea and I played around with pasting a Mickey face on him but then decided we were being mean. So, there is Connor with his unintentional Igor pose.

From there we consulted the tip board. Tower of Terror had a 20 minute-wait. Connor wanted no part in riding the Tower (he said that he didn't like how it steals your breath when you drop), so he and I booked it over to Rock n' Roller Coaster to grab four fast passes and then went to hang out near the Tower gift shop. Alas, there was no riding of the Tower for me, but I was okay with that -- I'm still recovering from my ride in 1998. I just love the old decaying glamorous feel of it though!

Connor and I browsed through the gift shop while we waited. I bought a key chain for Charles that looked like an old hotel ring with the Hollywood Tower Hotel logo on one side and Room 1313 printed on the back. I thought he would love it.

I love the gift shop window display!

Connor was getting so hot while waiting.

When Charles and Chelsea exited, Chelsea was her normal happy self at having been dropped repeatedly. Charles shook his head and said, "They dropped us like six times. You wouldn't have liked it."

I proudly showed him his new key chain. Now, we have been together since June of 1993 -- by my math that is 15 years (married for 13 in October). I found out something new about my husband when I showed him that key chain.

He is superstitious.

Of the number 13.

I had no clue.

All this time I never knew.

I thought he was joking at first.

But he really is.

The pool keys have a new key chain now.

Before leaving the Hollywood Tower Hotel, I wanted Chelsea to pose for a picture by the same tub of flowers as her brother had. She chose the pose. Channeling the 1930's pin-ups of movie stars??? I'm not really sure, but I like her smile!

Where would we head next? What would happen when it was time to ride Toy Story Mania again? What would we do that we had never done before?

UP NEXT: In Which Our Intrepid Adventurers Rock On!

PLUS: Tomorrow is Chelsea's birthday (my little girl will be eleven) and the 53rd anniversary of Disneyland's Opening!

First, happy 11th birthday Chelsea. July birthdays are the best :thumbsup2 But maybe I'm partial.

Chelsea loves posing for pictures!!! That pic with Bo is hilarious.
Jackie, I don't think you should be concerned about Bo. He has more personality that a lot of the men I've dated.

I'm happy to see I'm not the only person who stays away from ToT.

Poor Connor looks like he's melting. How hot was it???

What's the purpose of the HSM show?? Being that I have nephews and teach kindergarten, I have no clue what the hoopla is all about.

Happy Birthday Chelsea!

No ToT for you huh? Gosh I do love that ride!

Too funny about Charles and the superstitious number 13! You are still learning things after all these years!

Happy Birthday to Chelsea!

The Bo story and pic are hilarious! And the keychain story too...the pool keys have a new keychain! :lmao:

nooo you can't just leave us hanging like this... Your family pictures are like ours, we barely got a one that we all look good in.

That is funny about the key chain.

Too bad about ToT, I was soo scared to ride it but forced myself and even though it scared the bejesus out of me, I loved it! maybe next time give it another try?:)

Happy Bday to Chelsea!!

Talking about American Girls is a fun way to go OT!

I bet your DH was freaking out in there!!! Talk about sensory overload, and he was probably so lost and overwhelmed -- sounds like he did a good job getting stuff though. :thumbsup2

We have managed to spoil Chelsea rotten with American Girls over the years (Santa started a tradition of bringing them for Christmas :scared: ), but they are so well-made and detailed that we haven't minded. She has Molly, Emily, Kit, Elizabeth, and Julie. Molly and Emily are her favorites -- I like Julie the best because I remember all that stuff that she has! Chelsea and I want to see the new Kit movie, but haven't made it yet -- I guess we should make that a priority before I head back to work. Did they film any of it in Cincinnati? It was easier when they came on television each year.

Unfortunately none was filmed here in Cincinnati. I want to take Hannah, but it might not happen until it comes on DVD. (not to end to sitting that long right now).
I am so jealous of all her dolls... they are so beautiful and I love the stories with the dolls!

Onto your report...once again Chelsea cracks me up in the pictures.... she is too pretty!

I am still really enjoying your updates! I can't believe Connor is THAT strong willed that he wouldn't even do the ride! I would have been so livid at my child by that point! But of course, it sounds like it just wasn't his day with the spilling of the lemonade and all.

I can't wait for the next update!

Happy Birthday Chelsea!!

Happy Birthday Chelsea.

great update and pics. I love TOT.

Great update, yet again!

Don't be worried about Chelsea and Bob. Much better than my Katie and her boyfriend. He's a good boy, but he's worrisome to a certain agree. On second thought, at least she won't get splinters from her boyfriend! :lmao:

I think Connor looks cute in that pic.

ToT steals your breath. That's a good way to put it.

Poor Charles and his 13 superstition. I'm sorry about the gift. Glad you found a use for the keychain though.

I somehow think Bo would have liked Chelsea's pose :)

Happy birthday to Chelsea tomorrow! 11 is a fun age. They are all fun ages, except 7 and 12, in my opinion. Ask me later and I'll tell you why.

Tell Chelsea I said HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! She is such a pretty girl--love the poses!

Also--Congrats to you and Charles on being together for 15 years!!! Tom and I celebrated our 15 year mark (of being together) back in February--he actually did something very sweet--he took me back to the restaurant where we had our first date and specifically reserved the table we sat at---he even took in a tablecloth, bouquet of flowers, and candles that were put on the table for our arrival! I didn't know he had it in him! Next year, we will mark being together for HALF of our LIVES!!! Unbelievable!! But he is a keeper, so I won't complain!!!! ;o)
