As I mentioned last week, I was spending some time with my informant this weekend. While there really is little to tell, I did bring up to said informant the discussion about the re-opening that took place here on the board. "I"nformant gave a big, hearty laugh and said that the reopening is, apparently, NOT a topic for discussion right now. Bets have it that they will NOT be open in time for the Mar 1 grand reopening. I asked if they were now looking at Jun 1 and "I" didn't answer but gave one of those "yeah, right" looks.

Please keep in mind that this is NOT the "official" word of the hotel and there is no reason to panic....yet. However, if I were one of YOU out there, with a reservation, I would be cautious and do best to keep myself up to date. If you're someone w/ a ressy around peak time frames (that would be Mar 1 to the week following Easter), I would be looking else where for a back up....just to be on the safe side.

I was also told that, apparently, SoG no longer has the entire North Wing of CR. I guess this was part of the agreement w/Disney that since they had to continue to use rooms due to non-reopening, Disney was kind enough to give them some, but not the 300 they originally had. I have no idea how many rooms they are being allowed to use. Hope this was helpful to some! :)

Thanks for keeping us updated ;)

Firstno - Thanks for the update. You make a great secret agent. I'm at the SOG starting April 17 so if the new SOG isn't ready I'm hoping that I at least get something on property. I wonder when they'll put out an official announcement as March is just around the corner? Once again, thanks for the info.

YIKES!
We have 3 rooms reserved at the end of July. Up till this point, I wasn't worried at all - I was just following all of this with due sympathy for all of you with March or close after reservations. Now I am wondering if I need to be thinking about what we will do if it isn't done in July!!!
Good Grief - if there was ever anyone actually working on the thing maybe it would get done. Everytime I look at the "live" picture on their website there is never anyone there or any activity. This morning you can actually see 3 men in the picture - that is the first time I've ever seen workers there!

Mog, I look at the website everyday and I swear I am lucky to see 4 people in the entire picture. The problem is when they snap the shot, it appears 1 person is working and 3 are supervising.

Funny - I noticed the same thing today. It seemed like they were mostly just standing around watching. I'm not sure what they were watching - it didn't appear that anyone was doing anything!! :D

Supposedly, the workers were told they could work on Saturdays (originally, they were only working 5 days a week....when you're all ready starting 5 mos behind schedule, why you would only want people working 5 days a week is beyond me). However, because they are, supposedly, working longer hours during the week, none of them want to work on Saturdays. Such an organized bunch, aren't they?? :teeth:

:scratchin Hmmm.......maybe they spend the Saturdays filling in the holes they keep digging.

I have ressies for July 3-10. I guess if they are not done by then, we will search out other rooms onsite.
I wonder who the contract went to? We have lived on several bases, one operated by DOD, where renovations have taken place. The projects always go to the lowest bidder, and they always fall way behind schedule. The DOD base renovation took two years longer than proposed!

I believe that if you have an SoG ressie and enough rooms are not available when you arrive, they have to honor the ressie somewhere else on site without your looking. The reduced number of rooms at the Contemporary would just mean that fewere new ressies would be taken.

Oh my goodness!!! I sure hope they WILL honor SOG ressies. We will be down there for the April school vacation week. Yikes!!!:faint:

We have resies for june that we got LAST june. Please help with advice....if SOG is not ready, and there are not enough rooms at CR, will we end up in another resort that we cannot afford?
