The Problem Seems to be...

I think the big problem here with the MB's and FP+ is that Disney rolled out a system that was much too big, in too short of a time period. Not enough testing was done and the CM's aren't properly informed in some cases.

The system isn't rolled out yet and is still in testing.

I arrive at WDW in 18 days. I'm going to stay opened minded, until I've experienced the new systems for myself. Although, I have to say, I'm a little nervous. I'm glad it's just me and my husband with no kids this time. I can't imagine dragging them through some of the lines I've seen on Twitter...:confused3
29 trips to Disney World and counting...next stop POFQ march 2014
18 days to go!!!

everything is still in a test phase::yes::

That's right everyone, you're not REALLY waiting in long FP+ lines, you're just TESTING like you're waiting in long FP+ lines.

The main complaint of a system can't be that they didn't do enough testing and it was rolled out too soon before testing is even complete, a roll out date is announced and what the details of that rollout will be.

Okay, how about all the old systems were rolled off a cliff before testing was complete?

How about it?

Disney announced Magic Band testing last January, 2013 and a year later they pulled the plug on paper FPs. It has been a very slow rollout. It isn't like it was a surprise to everyone. To some, yes, but the info was there.

The problem is people don't want to adapt, plain and simple. They had it one way, got accustomed, don't want to change or adapt or can't and now it is viewed as an inconvenience.

Perfectly spoken. I wonder what some of these peoples opinions were when FP- was released. They probably sat around and complained how bad standby lines would get and that Disney is ruining the experience. Then once they figured out how to maximize the systems potential they learned to love it.

That's what will happen with this. It's just annoying to have all of these threads open in this forum at one time. I really wish the moderators would get a FP+ specific forum going. It's long overdue.

"People just don't like change" is a cop out. Why did you stop defending "it's still in testing?" I don't disagree that they've rolled it out slowly, I just disagree that they can forever call it in testing after all the systems they replaced it with are gone.

I think OP was trying to say that it is too fast because clearly last weekend was a failure. It seem like they were not organized at all. DME has too many problems still. I think OP didn't meant it as the time frame but that things are not ready to be fully operational, because they still have too many issues.

Why did you stop defending "it's still in testing?"

I didn't stop defending anything, I just don't know what you're asking.

How can you or anyone else criticize something for not going through enough testing that still isn't done going through testing?

I don't disagree that they've rolled it out slowly, I just disagree that they can forever call it in testing after all the systems they replaced it with are gone.

But testing is what it is. Until they roll out the total number of FP+ and integrate hopping and other details, it is still in testing.

And that's exactly why it is still in testing. If it had been rolled out and is rolled to to a catastrophic failure this summer, okay, bash away that they needed more testing, but right now that criticism just isn't valid because it is still in testing.

Initially, I expect more problems when it does go live, as there always is with any new system, but like I have been saying since last year, I wouldn't expect anything to go live until maybe just before summer. I think they want a full test through each season and hope to go live some time this summer.

I really don't get this. is this what made FP+ great? Because you got to ride 1 attraction without having to be there at rope drop?

Did you ride anything else, or only those that you could get FP+ for?

I'm sorry. I simply don't understand how anyone can think getting less of something than they could have gotten before is better.
:thumbsup2
The people who like FP+ aren't falling in line with those who dislike it, it's as simple as that. I honestly think some here have the thought that if Disney sees enough negative FP+ posts here, that they'll go back to the old system. That won't happen.

I don't like the current system. Disney won't go back to the old one, but I do believe more changes will be implemented. Hopefully, they will be for the better.

Hopefully they're gone from all the parks soon. Can't get rid of that antiquated technology soon enough! Those machines/areas were such eyesores.

I guess you haven't seen the replacements ?? Pretty much the same thing but more of them with huge hoards of people in line in front of them.

I don't know how anyone can say that it's not rolled out yet considering they already removed all access to the old system.

You can certainly say it's not optimized or finished, but it's certainly rolled out by now.

I also disagree that it was a slow change. Testing for on site guests didn't start until the latter part of last year. No long range announcements were made as to when legacy FP machines would be shut down. It was announced maybe a week before. We had two weeks before our February trip to scramble and change plans revolving around FPs. Seemed quite quick to me.

I guess we all must have missed that memo.

Just like the guests at PoP missed that MB-only memo....

And just like we all missed that AK going FP+ only memo.....

Just like.......

No, you didn't miss anything, but EVERYONE is a guinea pig right now for their "test" that everyone has to use because there's no alternatives.

That's my point. Nothing has been announced and yes, everything is being "tested". I go in a month, staying offsite with an annual passport. I can only get three FastPasses per day in one park when I arrive at that park and I park hop. Will that severely damage my trip? Maybe. But I don't think any Disney World trip ever had any expectations such as I'm going to ride every single ride when I want to ride it.

I took a big step back and looked at the entire picture. Will I be happy on my trip Probably. Will I over the moon and positively glowing? Probably not. BUT - will I have a good time and enjoy myself and my time away from the real life? Oh yeah.

Not sure I want to put work into having a time off from work. Defeats the purpose.

The lines aren't why I think it's a failure. I thought it was going to be a failure from the time it was announced. I don't consider myself to be a "half glass empty" type of person. I just consider myself to be knowledgeable enough about WDW and of the way I like to tour the parks to know that it was a lousy system (for me.)

-Tiering.
-Only 3 FP per day.
-FP at only 1 park per day.

Those are the reasons I think the system is lousy.
Haven't tried it yet (This Fall) and I agree with SOA. For people that Parkhop this sucks.

If you know where you will be hopping to, make your FP+ selections for your second park of the day. By Fall, though, the hopping issues could be addressed. We are also going this Fall (Oct.). I have a feeling the system will be different by then. Only time will tell.

Looking forward to park at rd/EMH then 2nd park with FP+ for evening EMH. Just have to figure out the new way to beat the system. For all those smart people that figured out fp- this should not be too difficult.

I haven't been able to use a FP since about ten years ago when you could only have one at a time per ticket. I wake up and hit parks at eleven. If you did this with FP- all I could get were fast passes to rides with times way after I would be wanting to hop to another park. Now I'm actually able to walk onto three rides at specific times and plan my park hopping. For me the FP+ works. Period. It's not even a discussion for my way of travel. It levels the field. Just remember if your at any other theme park there are no fast passes and be prepared to wait in line 3 hours for top attractions. Thank you Disney for this new form of FP.
