The Princess Bride - 20 Years Later

I also LOVE The Princess Bride, the movie. I too have read the book but I think it is one of the few instances where the movie is better than the book. The book has such a depressing ending; I prefer the happy ending of the movie.

I had it on laser and it got watched once a week back then. Then ex took the laser disk player and the disks.

Ooh, another (former) laser disc owner. :) I actually do own one, but it's inherited from my mom, and she *almost* lost it to her ex like you did... Alas, I don't have Princess Bride...but do have Smokey and the Bandit...2. :rotfl:

I think that pic is fairly accurate of Elwes...as someone who gets rather chubby in the face with weight-gain, I've noticed that he's lookin' pretty round the last few years...since I know how that feels, I feel bad for him (and am glad I'm not on TV and only have to deal with my friends thinking "ooh poor girl").

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

;) :lmao:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I was going to write that too! I agree that it's a terrible picture of Carrey Elwes, probably the worst I've ever seen. However, it was an interesting slideshow - thanks for the link!

I had no idea Christopher Guest was the six fingered man!

Has anyone ever read the book? I had no idea it wasn't a "real" book.

Me too! I did know it was a book though.

I have a friend that will not watch that movie with DH and I. We just quote it word for word. Man I love that movie. princess: :bride:

I Love The Princess Bride...for years I never saw it because I thought it was a chick flick!

You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.

Have fun stormin' da castle

I LOVE this movie!

Recently, Rob Reiner, the director of PB, was on TV and talked about an incident at a local restaurant.

He glanced over in the corner and saw John Giotti (not sure how to spell it, mob guy). He decided it was time to go, when suddenly a rather large man from Giotti's party came over to him. In a very gruff voice he said "You killed my brother, prepare to die". Reiner stated that he was so afraid he almost wet himself. Then the large man, with a big smile, said "I loved that movie!".:rotfl2:

Reiner and Guest made a great team (Spinal Tap was awesome as well) but Guest decided to go in alone. His stuff is good, but IMO not even comes close to Bride or Tap.

DD9 just watched The Princess Bride for the first time and really liked. I, on the other hand, LOVE it. I can't believe it's been twenty years; I was in college when it came out.

That is a terrible picture of Cary Elwes. We all look better when not carry 20 extra pounds, however.

Every once in awhile my DH and I look at eachother and bust out with, "My name is Enrigo Montoya. You kill my fatha. Prepare to DIE!"
:lmao:

" As you wish" on today, my anniversary. This has always been a fav of DH and mine. I just need to buy it on DVD! :thumbsup2

No more rhymes and I mean it!
Anybody want a peanut?

My absolute favorite movie of all time!

Do love Christopher Guest's films as well, though. Waiting for Guffman is probably my 2nd favorite movie!

Thanks for the link. This is one of my favorite films. It was also my mom's favorite before she passed. She watched it with my DD and passed on the love of the movie to her. There are so many quotable lines from this movie, it's impossible to pick my favorite. I guess I'll have to watch it again to try.

The Dread Pirate Roberts.
"Spent the last few years building an immunity to iocane powder"
Great movie! :) :)

Awhile back, my husband and I lived in an upscale apt complex that had a 'movie screening room' where they would show movies like once a week. One night, they were showing PB and the woman next to me (a 2nd grade teacher) was like, "This is GREAT! I've never seen this before though." I looked at her like her head was screwed on wrong. She was a few years older than me and I thought, "How can you have grown up in the 80s and NOT have seen this movie at least once?"
