Cast of Characters:
Angela…that’s me (30), darling wife of Sam and doting mother of Samantha, whose only desires for the trip are to spend her birthday in the Magic Kingdom & to have as many Eeyore encounters as possible
Sam (30), devoted husband of Angela and doting daddy of Samantha, official trip planner, list-maker & speed dialer who has been counting down the days since June 2001
Samantha (3 going on 10), devilish daughter of Angela and Sam, the Princess of our home & hearts who is anxiously awaiting her date with Cinderella

Mode of Transportation:
We’re loading up the Santa Fe (my second baby) and heading east on November 26th. With overnight stops in Shreveport, Louisiana and Tallahassee, Florida, we expect to arrive at our heavenly destination in the early afternoon on Thanksgiving Day. Samantha’s a wonderful traveler (conditioned from birth), and I’ve spent the past year (yes, you’re reading that correctly!) assembling a one-of-a-kind travel bag for her. She’s sure to be entertained and keep us entertained for the duration.

Length-of-Stay Accommodations:
November 28th-December 3rd: All Star Movies Resort (fingers crossed for 101 Dalmatians or Toy Story)
December 3rd-December 9th: Wilderness Lodge Resort (Courtyard View)

Background:
When we began toying with dates for a return trip to Disney, we decided to go for the first week of December. This way we could experience the magic of Disney at Christmas without the gigantic crowds. As an added bonus, my birthday is December 4th, and I was secretly hoping to spend that day with Eeyore. One is allowed to dream! After looking at a calendar and discovering that Thanksgiving was on November 28th, we got the okay from my mom (always a consideration when you’re thinking of depriving grandma of her only grandbaby on a holiday!) and booked November 29th-December 7th at All Star Movies. Over the next few months, we obsessed over the trip (big surprise there!) and started contemplating a slightly longer visit to paradise. Sam negotiated a deal with the powers that be at his office and arranged for some of his overtime hours to be credited as additional vacation hours. Woo hoo! We then called WDW Travel Company to change our dates to November 28th-December 9th. I then pitched the idea of spending part of the trip at the Wilderness Lodge. “Wouldn’t this be a perfect birthday present for me, dear? Look at the rates, dear. We can afford this…we’ve got 18+ months to save!” In short order, our reservation was modified, and my wish was granted. I just love that my husband listens to reason! :teeth: We’re now set. All that’s left is to peruse the DIS on a daily basis and wait for Mousesavers to post an amazing code. By the end of summer we had our codes. All that was left was the waiting….and waiting….and waiting.

Plan of Attack:
As referenced above, Sam is the King of trip planning. He’s been working on a tentative itinerary for the better part of a year now, and I must say that I’m quite impressed. It’s become his favorite past-time, and it will be interesting to see just how closely his guidelines are followed. He insists that all plans will be tossed out the window as soon as he breathes that sweet Disney air. The itinerary is simply a guideline needed in order to make priority seatings, he says, and boy, oh boy, have we made them. At last count we were holding 19 PS’s. Loads of character meals, the Candlelight Processional dinner package and the Wonderland Tea Party for Samantha, just to name a few. I don’t know if we’ll hold to his rigorous eating schedule, but Sam’s mantra is “better safe than sorry” so I acquiesced. Nineteen isn’t overly obnoxious for a 12-day stay, is it? Humor me, please. :teeth: Anyway, we plan to visit all the parks, see all the parades and witness fireworks (Samantha and I LOVE fireworks) whenever the opportunity presents itself. We have tickets for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on December 3rd, so I’ll ring in my birthday at midnight while sitting in front of that wonderful castle. We’ve booked the Candlelight Processional dinner package as stated above, and we want to see the Osbourne Lights and Fantasmic!, of course.

Trip Goals:
Fun, fun, and more fun! This vacation is to be a true celebration of our family. I can’t wait for that feeling you experience at Disney. You all know what I’m talking about…the outside world ceases to exist and there is simply happiness. I’m so ready to grab that little slice of happiness and share it with those I love most in this world. If the well-laid plans fall to pieces and we never leave the resort, we’ll still have a glorious time. One last hurrah for the 3 of us before baby #2 comes along next summer.

Thanks for reading, everyone! I’ll be back in a few weeks! :teeth:
