The President of the United States

but Germany is a similarly wealthy country as the USA. We only have about 46,000 people jailed of a population of 81 million.

Why do you suppose that is?

Do we not have harsh enough sentences?

Do we encourage criminal behavior?'

Do we not discourage criminal behavior?

Is our list of what we consider criminal activities too long?

Civil War?????

Ok, if you say so. But don't worry, I've got some guns to loan to you to protect yourself, or I'll do it if need be.

Everyone keeps going on and on about this marvelous tax cut. Exactly who do you think is going to pay that money back? Have you looked at the deficit lately? Do you think it is just going to go away? It is plain and simple math. I do not understand how you can crow about a tax cut that is going to come back and bite you in the *** so bad, and worse your kids and their kids too.

Pay it back?? What for? It was mine to begin with.

If you're so worried about the deficit, are you willing to reject the tax cut and possibly send in what you think is the fair amount you should pay?

It's a yes or no question.

Did you miss the (not widely publicized) report that for the month of June, the Federal Gov't received more in tax money than they spent?

There is no egg on my face, all of you.

I did indeed use a non-trustworthy site to compile my list, but I will absolutely not use that same site to source, realizing that it is not completely trustworthy. I promised I would compile all my sources by this evening--I was in a rush and only used that to get the names of what I was looking for. I do not hold an endless amount of names and facts--although i do know that I have read these things in the past, I will only source reliable material.

However, I will only source trustworthy sites. here's something to start with--an excerpt of David Kay's own testimony. Yes, the excerpt is presented on a conservative news forum, but you can double check with David Kay's report yourself. Obviously it's difficult to find this stuff in the Nation or other liberal media.

Plus, do I need to send links for last week's news regarding the attempt to purchase the Uranium and uranium oxide from Niger? That did, fortunately, make the mainstream news.
Additionally, I'm assuming the sarin shell they found but that the media disregarded is still in your memory.

Hind sight is always 20/20, isn't it.

Had I know you were coming, I would have baked a cake.

Yes, of course I am. I am surprised you would even ask.

Did they take in enough to pay down the deficit? ;) How many months of surplus do you think it would take to pay this deficit down. I do not understand why people are so unconcerned about this huge debt hanging over our heads. Just like you and I can only survive on credit for so long, so can the country.

And you are right, I did miss that report. The same way I missed the fact that "Nearly as many US soldiers lost their lives in Iraq in the first half of July as in all of June, even as Iraqi insurgents seem to have shifted focus from attacking US targets to aiming instead at Iraqi security forces and government officials."

But fear not, I know all about Kobe and Martha and Scott and every minuscule detail of their lives, so I am well informed

Um, where did the terrorists come from? Surely WE didn't send them here? And the way I see it, they killed more people here than their country has... that alone is enough to piss ME off! I would think that more people would be too.

And yes, I agree, you do need a new tax advisor!

The terrorists did not come from Iraq.

Most of them came from Saudi Arabia.

The guy from Germany:
With all due respect, if the United States had not rescued your country from Nazism, this board would be unavailable to you. So, you really don't have much grounds from which to criticize the United States.

Secondly, you might want to make the argument that there are more law breakers in the United States proportionately than there are in Germany, because our incarceration rate is seemingly so high. This would, of course, be fallacious.

Here in the United States we are very concerned about protecting our quality of life. One of the biggest threats to our quality of life is the drug problem. We have enacted laws that demand automatic jail sentences for specific drug-related crimes. As we consider illegal drug use and abuse a fundamental challenge to the character of our society, we have taken steps to protect our society from that threat. If you look at statistics, you'll see that there are an excessive number of drug offenders currently serving time in the United States jails. This is our way of protecting our way of life from the scourge of drugs.

You suggest "why don't you work on your own country's problems before fixing other countries". Well, we are.

The high rate of incarceration represents the attempt to protect our society from threat. Folks in the EU may want to follow our lead.

It is so easy to criticize the United States, as we are the only "superpower' left. But just as you folks in Germany feel threatened by your own problems; for example, integrating East Germany and the results of your overly liberal immigration problems, we feel threatened by our own problems. Along the same lines, why don't you look at France to criticize rather than the United States? Why do you suppose France has enacted very stringent dress code requirements that prevent people from wearing outward displays of religious affiliation. This is targeted to a very specific group. Do you think such a law would ever have been enacted in France if 9-11 had never happened?

There is a context to what is happening in the world and in the United States. When you see the context clearly much of these apparently confusing events become self-evidently clear. So, just as we were happy to free the people of Iraq and Afghanistan from tyranny, we remain very pleased to have done the same for the German people.

Thanks for the link but I see no list here of materials found especially not like your post listed. I see documents and evidence of research and that is frightening. But we were told that there were stockpiles of WMD not an odd leftover shell, etc.

As far as the Niger/Iraq connection I have seen the story but it really further clouds the whole thing since the Adminstartion had said that claim in the State of the Union address was a mistake.

Is there a difference in the U.S. and Canada?

I really don't consider Canada that much different than the US, there is a border, but I would go to Canada before I would go to Iraq or Saudi!

no offense but.....well, never mind, there is simply no response to this one that is not going to be offensive.

as is the debt now. You do understand that don't you? Where do you think the money to pay it back is going to come from?

It's a different freaking country! We weren't talking about where you'd go.

Oh, why bother.

I don't know anyone who ISN'T in debt in some way shape or form. The country has always been in debt, will ALWAYS be in debt, and my money surely isn't going to change that. I think that our politicians should take a pay cut, maybe THEN we wouldn't have to pay them so much!

I personally don't care about the debt, doesn't matter how much we give them or don't give them, it is still going to be there, because the more they get from US, the more THEY want to make to sit in a room and argue, so what does it matter?

NEWS FLASH! There was a surplus (not a debt) when GW took over.

May he be real like Osama or 'imagined' like Saddam. Don't get me wrong: I'm no fan of Saddam and I'm also happy that he's gone, but the fact remains that he never presented a danger for the American people. Unfortunately Bush found enough su....s -Ooops;) - people who fell for it - And as this thread proves who are still falling for it:rolleyes:

I would think with your country's history, you would have been the first to remove Saddam from power. He was as bad as Hitler in killing innocent people because of different beliefs. But no, Germany held back and let the good old USA to the job for the world. Until your country gets a backbone, I would work on your own country's problems and leave the USA alone.

It's interesting that the OP does nothing but attempts to minimize the Iraq war. For instance, she indicates that there were 36 combat deaths but fails to mention the death total for coalition forces as of today is well over 500.

I wonder if the families of those who have lost loved ones in this ill-conceived venture of the shrub would appreciate such minimizing. "Well, you know, you're son was only one of 36 killed, you should be happy!!!

If you plan to continue to make statements like this, please take the time and read the original thread. I stated the following:

...I'm sure some will state that the information is wrong or incorrect.

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq during the month of January

How dare you place words in my mouth. I was raised military! I know how it feels to have a loved one go to war, worrying about their safety. I've seen the military inform families that their their loved one were killed. I've been there, seen it and I would never try and minimize this war! How dare you!!

What's worse are individuals like you! You may not like President Bush, but it's rude to refer the President as a "shrub." Is this the way your parents raised you? To show disrespect for the office of the President of the United States.

You may think you're proud of yourself, but others don't. I would wager that your parents don't like it either!
