The President is coming to our town!

All of the info must be provided for security reasons. Kind of a no brainer... don't you think?

Undesirables? So we now can identify terrorists by their appearance alone? DHS may be very interested in speaking with you.

Funny that "all that info" only has to be provided for a Bush rally.

Please, the security is plenty heavy at those things. They can certainly screen at the entrances. Besides, never before have we had Presidential campaigns where only the "chosen" were allowed to attend.

The 9/11 excuse just won't wash. It's not as though the terrorist attack was directed personally at Bush. If Bush is that intimidated by terrorists that he has to know in advance the names and addresses of anyone who attends one of his rallies, then we've got a lot more to worry about than who gets in and who doesn't. Besides, aren't we being told to carry on with our lives and not let terrorists change the way we live? Or does that only apply to others besides Bush?

Finally, it's funny to me that the ones they've been refusing to allow to attend are people that don't agree politically. Do those who oppose Bush now qualify as terrorists?

Could you possibly explain how they could "see" the physical appearance of someone by doing a quick computer check using name/address and whatever else they make you give them before you can get a pass to listen to his speech?

Perhaps I should have been more plain spoken myself. By using the term "look and see", I didn't mean those who were issuing the tickets would look at you and single you ought because of your appearance. I find it hard to believe that's what you really thought I meant.

I know I should just let this thread quietly disappear but something about Pugdog007's " no brainer..don't you think" comment got me thinking.

Could someone please explain to me how giving your name, address and e-mail address is being used for "security purposes?"
When you picked up your tickets at the Fish House or radio station did they automatically run your name through a computer before they gave you tickets? If so, what were they checking for... to see if you were on a terrorist list?

Did they just give you the tickets without checking a database for information?

After you got the ticket or tickets couldn't you just walk outside the door and give the tickets to anyone???? So where's the security with that?

I believe the security is being done at the metal detectors and baggage checks that you will go through before entering the arena.

It may be a "no brainer" for some of you but I don't believe for a minute that having to give a name and address is for "security purposes"....... it just doesn't make sense to me. Call me a skeptic

George Bush is the President. I would assume that security would be tighter for him than for a Senator.

I did not go to the Fish House....actually my father in law got them for me. He went to WCOA. He said he actually had a good time waiting in line. He had a line chair and a cooler, and just watched "the show". He likes to watch people.

It would be nice to think that it's for security purposes, but it's not. This article should upset every American, Republican or Democrat. Basically, the RNC is requesting that attendees at these rallies sign what amounts to a Bush loyalty oath, or be asked to leave. I think that it is absoltely unconscionable that I, as a Democrat, could not take my child to a rally that involves the President or Vice President of the United States bc I am not a registered Republican.

Given the stunts that were pulled by organized Republican activist/hecklers at some of the Kerry/Edwards rallies this week, I guess I should not be surprised that the RNC is worried that the Democrats will give it right back to them. But when they complain about what they think the other side might do, it sure smacks of the pot calling the kettle black.

We have sunk to a new low in this country. Both sides are playing dirty, and the voters will suffer for it.

Your link didn't work for me. Do you have another source for this?

And for what it's worth, I attended a Bush rally at the Florida State Fairgrounds during the 2000 Presidential campaign, and I had to provide my name and address to get tickets in advance.

people who don't like President Bush will find something wrong no matter how hard they have to look!

Hey stevenpensacola,

Bush is coming to my town (Panama City) tomorrow also !!

I can't wait... I got 4 tickets on Saturday, and my boys and I are going after school... I just hope that we will be able to see him because I think it is going to be held outside instead of the Civic Center where it was originally planned. So many people wanted tickets, they changed the venue to outdoors...... so we may not be able to get very close, oh well it will still be worth it to be there.

BUSH 2004 !!
