The Pirates League - Updates/Changes

Berlioz70-I'm pretty sure from your pics that you had my oldest DS. Just wanted to say GREAT JOB!!!! It was such a great experience, we can't wait to go back!pirate:

What a wonderfully small world - there a very good chance it was me! I'm glad you had a great time!!!

This is quite upsetting to me as I have my dh and ds booked for the 17th of THIS month. I have the Captain's package booked for both of them. Now I wonder if they will honor that.......are they no longer doing the make-up as well? My son wanted to go all out as Boney.......think I'll call them first thing in the morning!

You actually did not book anything. To be honest, I'm not sure why DRC (Disney Reservation Center) asks you the package preference when you call. The Pirates will ask you when you arrive what you want, what is ordered on the phone actually has nothing to do with what most people get.

They are still doing the pirate paint and all of the looks are the same. The Boney Costume is about $65, so add that to the $30 and you only have to pay $95 (opposed to the Captain which was $125). You can add the photo/map case for $15, and then each additional photo is $10.

If you get the three photos, as the original Captain's included, the total is $130. But with the new set up, that extra $5 is going towards the bandana (the Captain's did not have a bandana). Under the old system, you would have pruchased the bandana seperately at $10. So this new system will actually save you money.

Thank you for the info. We're going in April and both my boys have appointments. Do you know if they will allow the boys to pose together for pictures or do they have to pose seperate. I'm actually happy about the change because it saves me money.

Thanks for the info. Do they still do the pirate name ceremony and the "treasure hunt" ?????

We have a 4:00pm appointment on May 22. Should I call and check on this or rebook at an earlier time?

Just an FYI...My TA tried to make us a 3:45 appt in Sept and they told her that since they close at 4:00, they can't do it that late. 3:15 is the latest they would book. However, I wouldn't think they would make you change your already exsiting appt now that they are closing earlier.

Well I was hoping to talk the DD's this for the MNNSHP but if they close at 4 that will not work as we are only using party tickets that night.

So I guess that saves me quite a bit of money, but now need to work on a new plan.

DISCLAIMER: I have no crystal ball and the is just pure SPECULATION.

But I'm sure Disney will see the error of their ways and keep Pirate League open later on MNSSHP nights, for just the reason the PP has mentioned. Lots of people want their "transformation" at BBB or PL done the day of the party, and not all are planning on being at the MK before 4pm.

Disney will not let an opportunity to make extra $$$ slip away. True, staffing and supplies would cost something, but I'm sure they would make a hefty profit on MNSSHP nights! With the lower prices and not so all-inclusive packages I'm betting more people would opt to do PL for the party.

We bought my son a pirate costume last summer and it still fits. Can we bring our own costume and just do the make-up?

They allowed people to pose together in the past, not sure if a new rule went into place today. But previously, you'd pose individually for the included picture and your group picture would be on the photopass card. Not positive, but I assume it'll be the same.

Just remember, to be able to add photos to the photopass card, you do have to purchase the first photo at $15.

They still do the "wheel" (name station) but the treasure hunt was discontinued about 6 months ago. It didn't work like it was initially planned, so they stopped dong it in September.

Berlioz70 Thanks for all the information. Hope to see you in September :goodvibes

Sorry :guilty: I do not work there anymore.

MNSSHP nights last year were by far the busiest... but with the hour long waits and HUGE COMPLAINTS it was quite a challenge. I know the CMs wouldn't mind working it, but the other logistics are a bit more complicated.

YES - bring your own costume!! Perfectly fine!!

If they let the pirates take the picture together that will be a savings for me. I would prefer my boys in 1 pic together than 2 seperate ones anyways. This is definately a savings for those who don't want the pictures!

It's still ok for adults to do this right? We're not looked at too strangely? :confused3 I just think it'd be fun!

This may be complicated, but under the old system this would not have been allowed. They may have changed it to take what I say with a grain of salt...

Under the old system they would only print the pictures of the individual pirate and then you can add those group pictures to your photopass. If this is still the same, you'd have to purchase at least one individual pirate in order to have access to the duo picture. You can get the duo image from either Expo Hall or from on-line.

Be warned, the lighting for the picture is designed for only one face, so one person always looks better then any others.

We love it when adults come!!! Have fun!!!
