The Pirates and the Frog (7/17 Welcome to the Next Adventure!)

Nice update! I love that parade! :)

I remember seeing the chicken in one of the really old, early cartoons but I have no idea of her name.

I remember that singing chicken in some of the old cartoons.
Is that who its supposed to be!?!?!?

And finally the 3 famous hitchhiking ghosts

GReat pictures! Love these!!!!! I never tire of seeing the Halloween parade!

Followed by a chicken in a barn.

[AUTHOR'S NOTE: Okay, can someone please explain to me the significance of this chicken?
I could not place it…]

My first thought was that it might be related to Chicken Little. While it doesn't look it at the moment, take a look at this version from 1943, anyway:

If only we could have cartoons like this any more. :happytv:

Her name is Clara Cluck :) She sang Opera in a few very early cartoons. Back in the '80's they would play some of these and I recognized her. Here's a link to one of her video's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJC-EVFtmlo

and here's how I found the info for it. (I had no idea whom the gravedigger with the dog was) http://www.charactercentral.net/L10...World_MagicKingdom_MickeysBooToYouParade.aspx

It looks like an awesome parade!

ETA: I do have to say she seems like a completely random character to have in a parade. I remember seeing her back when I was a kid, but not since. My kids probably won't ever know who she is. :(

Thanks very much - if you liked those, sit back and wait for Mickey to light up the sky!

Nah, we've seen Chicken Little too many times - that ain't it.

That was the best I could think of as well.
But she's such a minor character, I was very surprised to have such a place of honor in the parade.
She had a whole float to herself!
Oh well, I guess Disney is trying to get the kids to go "old school!"

After Mickey and his troops marched through the Kingdom, we made our way back to Main Street.
And yes, rain began to fall.
We took refuge standing outside Casey’s Corner and the Fair Maiden went for snacks.
She returned with booty to the delight of me crew!
Disney2009Pirates783.jpg

Each crewmember anxiously dove into their treasure!

Disney2009Pirates787.jpg

And then we inched back out onto Main Street.
The rain slowed to a slight drizzle and mere water would not slow me crew down.
Battle Stations Matey!
Disney2009PiratesPass470.jpg

Mickey was about to light up the sky!
[Author’s Note – yes, I LOVE the fireworks setting on my camera!]

And with a final blast, Mickey sent me crew a message loud and true.
I don’t think we can compete with that kind of firepower.
Disney2009Pirates817.jpg

The blast sent the peasants scattering all about Main Street.
Many retreated to the gates but me crew wanted more booty.
So we headed over a bridge towards the flashing of neon lights.
Stay tuned as the night comes to an end...

Beautiful fireworks pictures! :thumbsup2 I am so jealous, ours never turn out that well!

It's funny - we did much better at that party than normal.
On our most recent visit, the angle was different and every good fireworks picture has a blurry castle.
And, believe it or not, Hallowishes! was our first view of the fireworks from Main Street.
We literally just parked ourselves in the middle of the street and had a great view!

I could go for one of those cookies right now. Yum!

Beautiful firework pictures!!!!! I love the castle colors during halloween.

Me crew stumbled towards the glowing lights and saw sights we could not believe.
A World of the Future lay before us.
Lights flashing, odd forms of transit, and unusual creatures surrounded us.
Music sounded from within and we headed in that direction.
Along the way, me crew pillaged the Candy Outposts and filled up their sacks.
Then, off to the side, we noticed something new.
A “Space Ranger Station” – this was definitely not here before.
Disney2009Pirates818.jpg

We headed over and soon a real live Spaceman landed and began to question our intentions – we being pirates and all…
Disney2009Pirates819a.jpg

Me crew was a bit nervous as the Spaceman approached but me First Mate stepped up to the challenge.
Disney2009PiratesPass474.jpg

And then it was clear for the rest of us…
Disney2009PiratesPass479.jpg

Disney2009PiratesPass485.jpg

Me and the Spaceman sized each other up.
In other circumstances, we may have made a great team!
Disney2009PiratesPass487.jpg

Disney2009PiratesPass492.jpg

After our meeting, we headed back to meet Mom.
It seems X could make it no longer and was a victim of the Mouse.
Shot down in his prime, poor matey…
Disney2009Pirates822.jpg

Mom quickly changed X into more comfortable attire and then we headed out.
With one crew member lost to the Sandman, we decided to take a tour of this Land of Tomorrow.
I threw X over my shoulder and we made our way to the main mode of transportation in this futuristic place and boarded the Blue Line.
Disney2009Pirates823.jpg

By now, the First Mate and the Pirate Princess were succumbing to the Sandman as well.
We best be taking our leave.
However, a portrait-maker clad in khaki stopped us one last time.
I had already shed me coat and hat due to the blistering heat and was the beast of burden for little X.
Apparently, she had to preserve this moment.
Disney2009PiratesPass495.jpg

Disney2009PiratesPass498.jpg

Then we took our leave and headed back to the Dark Destroyer.
We made it out before the second march of Mickey and his troops.
I think we finally arrived at home by around 11 – a long day to be sure.
But there still be several days left in our adventure so don’t stray too far me hearties!

Sounds like you all had a great time at the party! The last picture PP pictures are great! Nothing is quite as precious as a little one sleeping :goodvibes

The party was a blast!
We highly recommend it to anyone thinking about it.
We concentrated on characters, the parade, and the fireworks and had a GREAT time (as I hope you've seen).
We liked it so much, we're considering trying out the Christmas version sometime soon!

You'd really enjoy that too! Nothing quite like seeing it "snow" on Main Street or seeing the castle all lit up in the icicle lights :goodvibes

We slept “late” the next day – at least late for the Capells in Disney - and didn’t get up till 7:00 or so.
With the Pirate Revolt now in our past, I figured it’s time to address the “other” half of the TR.
Remember the Frog in the title? Time for that part of the story…

Somewhat rested (after all, it was very late when we got home), we dressed and got ready for brunch.
We headed off to find a “Breakfast Bus.”
At 8:15, we boarded a bus to Magic Kingdom and Mom talked the driver into dropping us off at the Contemporary since we were running late.
We hopped off and I ran ahead to check us in.
Apparently Mom stopped to take a picture with her phone:
Disney2009Pirates0931.jpg

It was now about 8:45 and we had an 8:35 ADR at none other than CHEF MICKEY’S!!
Disney2009Pirates0932.jpg

The setup had just changed with the addition of the Contempo Café
Disney2009Pirates0933.jpg

And the Outer Rim.
Disney2009Pirates0934.jpg

We arrived and checked in and waited a short bit for our table.
Looking out the window, I noticed a great view:
Disney2009Pirates0935.jpg

And then it was off to take the classic Chef Mickey’s picture.
Now we don’t often buy pictures when they charge you more money but, for some reason, Chef Mickey’s and ‘Ohana both come out great!
So, once again, we were suckered into a picture purchase.
Disney2009PiratesPass504.jpg

So, by now, you should have noticed two things.
One – with the pirate theme behind us, I’ve resorted to talking normal (much to the delight of Mom who was growing tired of my pirate speak).
And two – as I no longer needed to be a pirate and we had some more “formal” events planned today, I cut my ties with the pirates – literally – and shaved off the beard.
So, looking like myself again, I followed the hostess to our table and immediately headed to the buffet as I, like usual, am the family buffet runner.
When I came back, the parade of Mickey and his friends was about to start!
The server quickly presented us with cupcakes as it was DD’s 5th Birthday at the end of October.
Disney2009Pirates0936.jpg

And then Mickey arrived!
Disney2009Pirates0938a.jpg

Now Mickey may be cool.
But he ain’t better than a crispy slice of bacon.
Just ask X:
Disney2009Pirates0939.jpg

And then the family shot:
Disney2009Pirates0940.jpg

Donald was next:
Disney2009Pirates0941.jpg

Disney2009Pirates0942.jpg

And, of course, more bacon:
Disney2009Pirates0943.jpg

Minnie was next and DD was excited to meet her all decked out in her Minnie clothes.
Look! Twins!
Disney2009Pirates0944.jpg

Disney2009Pirates0945.jpg

And one not-so-happy boy made to pose with the girl mouse…
Disney2009Pirates0946.jpg

This one didn’t seem to mind though…
Disney2009Pirates0947.jpg

The dogs brought up the rear.
Disney2009Pirates0949.jpg

Disney2009Pirates0950.jpg

Disney2009Pirates0954.jpg

Then it was time to eat.
X decided it was more fun to watch the monorails.
He even called out each one in passing.
“Monorail Yellow!”
Disney2009Pirates0966.jpg

I like the Hidden Mickeys right next to the monorail.
Not sure what they are supposed to be but they are neat.
Disney2009Pirates0967.jpg

Apparently we took our time as Mickey even came by for Round 2:
Disney2009Pirates0955.jpg

And Minnie joined us for another celebration song!
Disney2009Pirates0957.jpg

Disney2009Pirates0958.jpg

Disney2009Pirates0959.jpg

Disney2009Pirates0960.jpg

Disney2009Pirates0961.jpg

On the way out, X wanted some snack out of Mickey’s bowl…
Disney2009Pirates0962.jpg

And one last remnant of one of our favs – Chef Mickey’s
Disney2009Pirates0968.jpg

Stay tuned for a return trip to the Magic Kingdom.
This time – without pirates…

Nice update! Looks like you all had fun at Mickey's breakfast :)

I love the princess's outfit in these pictures! She looks adorable! :cutie:
