The Perfect Gift - Californai equivalent????

thanks susan,
now do you recommend how you get from airport to hotel and back..i dont want to be sitting on a bus for 3 hours waiting to get to my hotel..

San Pedro will be about 20 miles from LAX ... 40 miles from John Wayne (aka Santa Ana aka Orange County) airport ... 15 miles from Long Beach airport.

Now, you'll be in Southern California ... traffic sucks, no matter the time of day, especially around LAX airport ... your best bet will be to arrange shuttles in advance (i.e. PrimeTime Shuttle) for your airport/hotel transfers.

Between the hotel and cruise terminal will be easy ... many of the hotels have shuttles, and taxis are fairly inexpensive.

can you tell me where there is a nice hotel close to the port..i am booked on mex.riv 2008 on 6/29..
any tips on what to do in the area
When we went in 2005 we stayed at the Hyatt in Long Beach. It was short distance from the Queen Mary and right across the street from the Aquarium of the Pacific! We liked it and we'll probably do it again in 2008. It was a short drive/shuttle/taxi from here to the San Pedro pier. Here's a link:

Joanie, I can tell you where NOT to stay ;) We had some serious issues with the Holiday Inn San Pedro ... won't stay there again.
My family stayed at that Holiday Inn before our cruise; and the rooms were just OK; the benefit was leaving our car there and taking their shuttle to the cruise terminal. If I recall we paid about $140 for one night, but that included indoor parking for the week.
