I just had a horrible experience on the people mover.... It kept starting and stopping.... At one point, just as it got up to full speed again, BAM! Full breaks, I was thrown into the seat in front of me..... Makes me question the safety of Disney rides...

Well, since top speed is less than 7 miles an hour, I'm not sure it is the death trap you are making it out to be (assuming one isn't trying to jump from car to car.)

On our last trip in October we had terrible times on the people mover - stoppages every single time we rode, one trip stopping 4-5 times. It made me start to sour against what is one of my favorite attractions. Nothing happened that had me questioning my safety, however.

The stops are only unsafe if you aren't seated with your hands and feet inside the vehicle. Now if you are sitting on your leg, stretched out with your feet up, or any othr way people will sit in the people moover then it won't work the way it was designed if it has to stop.

At least you were able to get on it!!! I tried several times over my stay...Dec 2-9. It was always down. On Tuesday evening, at MVMCP, it was boarded up!!!! Looks like an overhaul is in it's future. That ride is usually my first and last ride of my stay.....not this trip.

It was broken for much of our visit last week, but we finally got on yesterday. It's fine the way it is. The e stops may have been mechanical or stops due to guests tryinf to stand up or acting foolishly.

A lot of the time, as Jennasis says, stops are due to guests acting dumb. That being said, over the summer I was once stuck in the Space Mountain pitch black section for like 10 minutes and nearly had an anxiety attack. SO even though I love it I feel hesitant.

Was this yesterday (Friday)? It was down for refurb this week, I thought Monday to Friday. I tried to ride it Sunday and it was closed mid-day, never got to ride it.

Update - wdwinfo shows refurb Dec 7 to 10, so Monday to Thursday.

We had this happen to us as well on the last trip. I kind of enjoyed it, but the kids were freaked out. Didn't stop us from hopping right back on, though.
