The original POP Fridge Swap! Planning moved to another thread - link inside!

MyGoofy26,
I am finalizing my paperwork for my trip and need YOU to PM me with your ressie information and full name! I know that you guys have papers with everything on it, but if for some reason they get lost it could be tragic! I would feel better knowing that I also have your information to make sure it gets to you. It would be really awful if YOU ended up not getting the frig because of a small "glitch"!!!!

I will PM you also, but just want to make sure you get this message.

PMed ya back! Thanks for thinking of me, LOL! I've been so busy trying to organize, I hadn't gotten that far yet! LOL!

Bumping this before it gets lost in the DIS abyss. . . Not a lot left this year, but room for people coming in 2007. If we can fill gaps, we may be able to keep this moving for awhile!

Thanks for the bump, I had to open up a couple days and you saved me from digging for the thread, LOL!. Things seem to be going alright, we're a couple people in so hopefully some will come back and report to everyone their experience.

Alright folks, we had a space open up over Halloween. So if anyone is going to be at POP from October 31st to November 4th there's an opening that we can squeeze ya into!

Just checking in to see how things were going...keep the interest alive and make sure there were no glitches! Hope evryone is having a great day!

I just PM'd MyGoofy26.

Ceroarty just called me (I leave tomorrow) to confirm our swap. So the frig is currenly where it belongs and will be passed on to me tomorrow. :hourglass

Just heard from lovetoscrap's DH last night that the tape was running low, so I guess that means that she got the fridge - no problems. LOL! So everything is where it should be!

FYI, the box must be being taped super well. I left 2 rolls when I started the swap and if I am counting right only 4 people have packed it up so far. Looks like we are going to need every 2nd or 3rd person to bring tape.

LOL! I guess I'll pick up a couple/few rolls then!

Should start going slower - I think there's a good month of people overlapping dates, so there should be quite a few hand-offs without going to luggage services.

Just checking in!

We've been here a few days now and it's been great being able to toss a couple bottles of water into the side pockets of the backpack. It's been getting pretty roasty toasty outside (and my shoulders will attest to that)

We had no problems at all picking up the fridge. I checked in and they brought out my water from Staples. I then walked back outside to luggage services and mentioned that a "friend" had left a package. They asked my name and ran in back. While we waited, another CM asked if I needed a cart (seeing the case of water I had) and got the cart all set up. A few minutes later the first CM came out with the box and I was on my way. We headed to the room, set up the fridge, and headed back to return the cart and get a couple refillable mugs.

The fridge is starting to look very festive :thumbsup2 and Sandy has done a WONDERFUL job with the individual packets. She really went all out. Thanks so much Sandy!

I took a few pictures, just so you can all get an idea of the size of things. I'll post them later, once I get a chance to resize.

Just returned today! For anyone worried that Pop doesn't approve, they sure didn't act like it! In fact they made things easier, LOL! I wasn't able to coordinate a time to meet up and hand off the fridge to the next family (already there) so I called the room this morning and left a voicemail that it would be waiting at luggage. I got it up there and the CM was very friendly and looked up her room number and delivered it right to her room immediately! So, hopefully she got back (or will be getting back) from the parks to a nice surprise, LOL! I just wish I would have got that CM's name - I'm going to write a letter anyways with as much detail as possible so that they can hopefully figure out who it was and give him credit. I wasn't fully awake and his name didn't register. . . I remember looking at the tag, but my memory wasn't functioning yet. :rotfl:

I'll post a couple pics later. Gotta get ready to watch LOST now!

Just an FYI:
Southwest airlines put my stroller in a HUGE plastic bag because I checked it with my luggage. I saved the bag and when I was packing the fridge up I realized it would fit inside the bag. I placed the bag INSIDE the box, to make a liner in case of leaks. Then I put the fridge inside the bag lined box and pulled the bag over the top and sealed up the box. I didn't use tape on the bag so it wouldn't tear. Hopefully the bag will last through a few people and between a towel inside the fridge for storage and the bag it will contain any accidental leaks.

I unplugged the fridge the morning before I was leaving and left the door open with a towel inside. It seemed to be completely thawed by the time I returned that evening. I wiped it out and it was still completely dry the next morning when I boxed it up.

Not a drop of water when I opened it up!

Oh good! I was so worried after someone else said that it was still leaking after 24 hours. I think leaving the door open is the key to thawing it quickly. Closed it will insulate itself and probably tend to take much longer to fully thaw.

It was so great to have cold water and even better--cold Neckwraps! We stored them in a baggie in the fridge and then transfered them to a cooler. With the DDP it was also nice to be able to store our leftover drinks and desserts and fruit for breakfasts!

Thanks SO MUCH for having the courage to start this--and the fortitude to stick with it and keep it all straight! I really hope that the Values take notice and decide to provide the fridge free in each room like the other resorts.
