The only way to have a friend is to be one." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Amber, I hope your FIL is ok. I'm glad that it wasn't worse and that he went in right away so he can get the care he needs.

Well it wasn't really a mistake. Today was my last day. :( It was handled horribly. The woman who does the temp only placements did not tell the temp-to-perm division that she had been contacted to hire a new receptionist, and then she went on funeral leave. My rep at the agency had a hard time finding out what happened, she had to call the boss at the job on his cell because he was out today for a medical procedure. He told her that one of the ladies in Accounting was jealous that I was going to be hired permanently and it caused some hard feelings. I don't understand and think there must be more to it, because both of the accountants were super nice to me. I even helped one plan her upcoming WDW vacation and she told me as she left today that she might come visit me at the store this weekend. So that leaves the other one, who was never anything less than nice to me. She was the one who was most friendly with the lady I was replacing, but she also gave me updates on what that lady said about if she was coming back and even encouraged her not to come back. I don't get it. The agency rep doesn't get it either. She said that the boss told her it was not my performance, just personality conflicts because somebody plain out didn't like me. Oh but not to take it personally. He blamed it on "too many women in too small a space." These are the same women (and boss) who just placed large orders for cookie dough from Lyzzie's fundraiser. I am bewildered and upset.

Hopefully the agency can find me something else, and soon. Something better. I know my rep, who I have worked with for years, felt really bad about her coworker dropping the ball and screwing up. I hope that will motivate her to work harder to find me a good job.

I have to go work at TDS now. I am so not in the mood to smile all night.

Ashley -- maybe you can PM or email me about where to find those pictures. They're not too... uh... explicit, are they? :scared:

Lyzziesmom- I am so sorry! They handled it all wrong. It does seem strange that they all were nice to you and even ordered from Lyzzie. It sounds fishy to me. I hope your agent finds you an even better job!

Ashley- I want to see these incriminating pics and I don't even watch the show! :teeth:

Amber- I am sorry about your FIL's stroke.

I forgot to tell ya'll, Steven didn't get picked for jury duty. They told him a little about the case, and it happened on a road which we travel on all the time.

I'm not sure what we will do this weekend. I want to see where all the Easter Egg hunts are going on, and see if we can take our niece and nephew to one, since I'm sure their mom won't.:rolleyes2

Lyzziesmom, I am so so sorry!! This is just so weird and sudden. I agree there must be something else to it, the actions of those accountants certainly don't sound like they didn't like you.

PMs on the way for those who want to see pics. :teeth: I'm singing like Scar in The Lion King- "Be prepaaaaaaaaard!!" ;) Seriously though, they aren't really explicit or anything.

Lyzziesmom, I am so sorry they did that to you and to find out the way you did

Ashley, got the PM; they weren't bad at all, but he definitely likes boys. :)

My FIL is... well, I don't really know what to say about him. The doctor told him he can't smoke anymore (he smokes a TON of little cigars- they look like cigarettes). He said fine, but then called my SIL and asked that she bring him the cigars so he can sneak out to smoke. :sad2: He has been yelling at everyone and is just plain mean.

Yep, they weren't really shocking to me, but they probably would be for some housewives in America who watch the show.:lmao:;)

I am so sorry!!! It must be so hard to quit smoking but I don't think it wouldn't matter to me if the situation was so serious...I hope he feels better soon!!

I'm sure.

Yeah. He has smoked his entire life (he just turned 60 Monday). They offered him a patch, but he refused it (kept saying he didn't need to smoke). Mike used to smoke, but quit after he got pneumonia - the doctor told Mike if he didn't quit, he would end up in ICU on a respirator. That was the last time he smoked.

My FIL just doesn't care. He was also told he needs to exercise and stop drinking, but he won't. He also won't admit what really happened; if you mention the stroke, he starts yelling. I am sure he's scared, but I would be doing everything in my power to get better.

Amber -- it does sound like your FIL is scared. It also sounds like he might think it's too late, the damage is done, so why bother making those changes now. He is just telling the dr's he will quit so they will leave him alone. I've seen a lot of older people who react like this. Lyzzie's grandfather (not my dad, her other one) has had five (!) heart attacks and still refuses to change his diet. :( He did quit smoking, but his wife and son (Lyzzie's dad) did not, and he allows them to smoke in the house and occasionally sneaks their smokes. I think some older people just get very stubborn and think, "Well I've done it for this long and I'm still alive..." Hopefully your FIL will realize in a few days how serious his situation is, and start treating himself accordingly. I gotta say though... I'll probably be one of those stubborn old ladies. My great-grandma was, and everyone says I'm just like her. I hate being told what to do and it makes me want to do the opposite.

More I wanted to say, but the kiddos just got home. Later!!

Happy Easter to all my friends!!

Didn't sleep well last night, after the busy day & then worked at TDS until 11pm. Came home, did the Bunny business, and was too keyed up to sleep. Woke up just in time to call Mom and opt out of the early church service -- she was just about to call me for the same reason! Then of course I couldn't get back to sleep so I hid a few more eggs. I got some very cool "zero gravity" eggs that have strings, suction cups, or sticky stuff on them so there are some very cleverly hid surprises this year! The only problem is the sticky stuff is not sticky enough for some eggs -- once in a while I hear one fall & then have to go search for it. One fell into the litterbox! :scared: And of course Jonas thinks the house is now full of cat toys. :rolleyes2

My TDS manager said I can pick up some extra hours this week (up to 12) helping out with the floor move. She is so nice to me. I am also getting my review this week for sure, on Tuesday. I'm hoping it's good news!!

Gonna have a GREAT day! Amber, Ashley, Nicole, Lin (I think that's all of our little group) -- wishing you all a GREAT day too!! I hope the Bunny is very good to you, and that we all keep in mind the REAL reason for the holiday. (besides chocolate  )

Happy Easter!

Spencer likes his presents (he got a dino bookbag, Little People Easter set, and two books). We are suppose to do the egg hunt later (we found dinosaur eggs at Walmart). :)

Today has not started off well. There was a HUGE blowup between Mike and his mom (mostly stemming from his sister). :sad2: I am so sick of it.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Amber- I hope your FIL quits. But like Lyzziesmom said, he might think since he's smoked for so long, why quit now. I'm sorry about the fight between Mike and his mom. I hope Spencer has a great Easter!

Lyzziesmom- I'm glad your manager gave you more hours. I know you'll get a great review!

Ashley- I saw the pics! :lmao: They weren't too bad, but like you said, they would shock a housewife for sure!

It just started raining here. :(

I hope everyone has a great Easter!

I hope everyone had a great Easter and is doing well!

I had my interview for the sales lead postion today. I don't think it went well. :( I was nervous even though the interview was with my manager. Actually she just called and recommended me for the position and gave me a sparkling review, I'm honestly surprised. She is always harping on me about being quiet. As much as I would love to be this bubbly, outgoing girl, that just isn't me. I can't change my personality overnight but I'm working on it. I wonder why she wants to promote me if I'm not assertive enough. Well, I have another interview sometime soon with the manager of another Body Shop, my manager needs her approval before I can be promoted.

That's great news Nicole! I'm sure your manager doesn't want you to change your personality, but she probably sees potential in you to be able to open up a bit more. I had a manager tell me one time that no matter how great an employee is, they always have to find at least one negative thing to say or else there will be nothing to improve upon and no room to grow for comparison next time.

I had my TDS review and it went ok. I didn't get the lead position I was hoping for, but to my knowledge nobody did so I don't feel so bad. I was surprised that a couple of my scores were lower than I expected. Apparently they think I "vent" to other coworkers and don't go straight to management? I can't recall a single time when I've ever done that. Oh well, I got some good pointers on how I can raise my scores for next time, and also was able to give some good feedback so I think it went well. I did make a mistake though, in that I started a new med before my shift and it made me feel really floaty and high -- NOT a good state of mind for a review! My mind was racing and I felt really twitchy. At least my back didn't hurt!

I am hoping I will get another job soon, this staying at home thing is starting to drive me crazy. I think I'm a little depressed because I don't really feel like doing anything (of course that could just be the PMS). I love being able to spend more time with the girls but hate that I'm not making any money.

Yesterday Lyzzie had a half-day at school and the weather turned nice, so we spent the afternoon at the farm and had a great time. We were looking at the baby chicks who were just starting to get their real feathers, and a boy of about 13-14 came over and said to his mom, "They look funny because they hardly have any fur." My mom looked at the kid and said, "Actually, chickens never have any fur -- they have feathers." The kid just turned and walked away! :rotfl: We kept joking afterwards about every animal having scales, fur, or whatever.

OH... temp agency calling. Hope its good news.

Well I'm working Monday & Tuesday at a drastically lower rate than I'm used to, but it's better than nothing.

Thanks Lyzziesmom, I just feel so bad sometimes! I just called the other store and the manager is out sick and the asst. manager that was covering for her said not to call her cell. I just left a message and then left a message for my manager. I hope my manager doesn't think I'm not aggressive enough for not calling the other manager, that's how she thinks. I feel like I can't win with this woman.

I'm sorry the pay isn't what you want, and I hope they find something better fast. My mom has been unemployed since November. She's had a few interviews but that's it. She did have a interview last week and was offered the position but turned it down since the pay wasn't what she wanted. Then they called her back yesterday and offered the position with an increase in salary. So now I think she's thinking about accepting the offer.

I'm sorry you didn't get the lead position, maybe they see you talking with your coworkers and think that you are venting? :confused3 That's good that you got pointers for next time. Oh no, well like you said, at least your back didn't hurt!

That kid! I think he's old enough to know that chickens have feathers and not fur! :rotfl:

Hey guys!!

Well, I'm sick again....how is it even possible that I'm sick again??:confused3 It seems worse than last time because I think the cold has settled into my chest.:scared: Buddy is doing good, but he is HATING wearing that cone thing around his head. He is acting very pathetic and just laying around! Hopefully we can get the OK from the vet Saturday to take it off!

Nicole, hopefully you get your promotion! That would be wonderful. I know what you mean about being outgoing, I'm not really either. Hope your Mom finds a job soon too!

Lyzziesmom, I'm so sorry you are feeling down in the dumps. That is perfectly understandable considering what you are going through! It's good you got a job for Monday and Tuesday though- everything helps right?? Don't worry, things will get better soon.

Hi to Lin and Amber! Hope you are doing well.

What did you guys think of American Idol? Overall I thought it was a VERY boring night, I was disappointed. You would think with such a broad catagory some people would pick better songs..:rolleyes1

Nicole -- I think your efforts to contact the other manager were fine. If you were told not to call her cell then leaving a message should be fine. If you don't hear back from her in a couple days, I'd probably follow up to make sure she got the message. I feel that way with my TDS manager too, she is really nice but she's really strict and picky and it's like no matter what you do, she will find "opportunity" for improvement.

Ashley -- I've noticed the song choices on Idol this whole year are just bleh. I think they have a limited list they can choose from, I know I've heard a few references to drawing from a hat to choose songs. We had to laugh at Simon: "The good news is that you'll be back next week, the bad news is that it'll be disco week!"

Hi Lin and Amber! Hope you guys are having a good week.

Thanks Lyzziesmom, I called my manager this afternoon just to tell her again what happened and I asked if she knew if she was there, they are our "buddy" store and I thought maybe they had talked to each other. My manager said "Well, I'm not her, I wouldn't know." It was the tone that she said it in that just sounded so rude!

ETA- I realize now that all I seem to be doing lately is venting about my job! I'm so sorry.

ETA- I realize now that all I seem to be doing lately is venting about my job! I'm so sorry.

Don't be sorry!!! Vent away!!

What did you guys think of American Idol? I had a feeling they were going to use the save. I thought it was so stupid how Simon and the other judges were 'acting' like they didn't know what their decision was going to be! Stick to what you are good at guys, and acting is not it!;) I used to really like Anoop but now his personality rubs me the wrong way, almost like he is too arrogant.

Anybody have any plans for this weekend? I'm been really sick this whole week and I still feel pretty lousy, so I think it is going to be low key for me unfortunately!!

Sorry you're not feeling well Ashley. Get some rest this weekend so you can get better quickly! Emma woke up coughing this morning and had to stand over the toilet for a while but nothing happened and she is fine now, just sounds a little froggy. She went to school and they had a visit from a paleontologist which she said was really cool.

We went to a church sale in our neighborhood this afternoon and they were selling brand new Crocs for $10!! They didn't have any in my size and Emma already has a pair, but Lyzzie wore hers out and I was lucky enough to find a pair in her size. What a steal! They also had Jibbitz for $0.25 so I stocked up on all the Disney ones. I'll save them as surprises for our trip in the fall.

I haven't really given much thought to what we'll do this weekend. I am working tonight and tomorrow morning but beyond that I have no idea. I'm sure we will come up with something. The weather has been so nice for the last couple days!

Gotta run & pick up Lyzzie from Girl Scouts. I hope you are all having a great day.

Oh and Nicole, don't worry about venting about work. You gotta do it sometime right? That's what we are here for! :)
