The one Monday I was looking forward to go into work...

and I can't. :furious: Last week it was anounced to our office, I work in a law firm, that President Clinton would be coming by for an event that was being held in our office (unrelated to my firm). And at the end of the event, he was going to do a meet-and-greet/hand shake time with the everyone from my office. Well, wouldn't you know it that murphy came knocking at my door! My car pulls up lame this morning and I had to call in sick. :furious: I live 60+ miles from work, a 2 hour commute one way, and by the time I would have gotten my car fixed I wouldn't have made it on time. I'M REALLY MAD!!!!!!! A chance to meet a President up close and in person and I can't be there. :furious: :badpc: :furious: :badpc: Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening.

For Clinton?!!! Sorry - can't understand why you'd be mad to miss that!

To be honest, I'm republican and I didn't vote for the guy, but I respect the fact that he was a president, and it is a chance to meet a former president...that's why I'm mad.

I feel your pain.

I think I'd rent a car to go see Carter or Clinton. As for W...they'd probably tell me not to come to work that day, after running a background check and seeing all the liberal causes I've supported!

Exactly- I didn't vote for the First President Bush but still went to the end of my road to watch the Presidents motorcade go by when he was on the Cape.

It is the toughest job in the world responsibility wise.

i've shook bills hand so often i wouldnt even think about it now, but i agree, thechance to meet any of our presidents is an honor i would hate to miss.

Heck, I'm very outspoken about W, but I'd still love the opportunity to meet him and shake hands. As for Clinton, I was too young to vote for him, but I think he was the best President we had in a long time. :thumbsup2

Sorry you were sick and missed it!

I was just going to say something very similar.

I can't stand the guy, but I certainly respect what he had to do to accomplish winning the very first presidential election he was ever in, and winning a second term.

As much as I REALLY don't like him, I will admit, he is one of the most effective "politicians" in US history. I would've liked to meet him. Like you said, how many opportunities do you get to shake the hand of someone who was President?!?

Sorry you had to miss it.

Aww that stinks!

I'm the same way--I'd be honored to meet any dignitary whether or not I agree with their platform. Especially with a president.

I have no idea how your car can make this up to you though.

I've shaken hands with both Bill and George Senior.....military stuff....but sorry - Bill just leaves me so disappointed.

I'd really like to shake the hand of GWB.

Not for any political reason.

Did anyone ever see the "King of the Hill" when Hank met Gov. Bush when he was running for President and Hank couldn't vote for him because he had a "limp" handshake.

Curious to see if that's true. :rotfl2:
