Hi!

We all know that tracking is the number one tool for weight loss. But sometimes it's hard to do! Well, this is the place to get back on track, start tracking, or stay on track. Come join me, and bring your friends!

A little bit about me...

My name is Liz, and I've lost 62lbs on WW since Oct 24, 2007. I have been greatly helped by my friends on these boards, and I really do owe my success to tracking my food. I am hot and cold with exercise, and don't always drink my water, but when I track I lose.

I'm starting this thread to help my friends and to keep me on track - I have 25 more lbs to go to goal!

Liz, I just noticed your ticker on another thread and have to comment you are doing great. I hope I can keep it up as good as you and achieve your success.

I have been tracking faithfully since I started on 5/19 and I know that is key. I'm pretty good on the water, I admit I'm not big on the exercise. For now I am going to concentrate on the two I do well and hopefully at one point the exercise will kick in. I think I would like to do some kind of walking but to be honest, I'm in the office most days from 7 am to 7 pm and by the time I get home and do a few things it's late.

Hi Mary Anne! Thank you so much for posting and thanks for the kudos. I cannot believe I got this far!

I did the most basic exercise (like treadmill 2x a week, parking farther away, taking stairs, etc.) until I hit 50lbs, and then I joined a gym. I do try to go regularly, and I do enjoy it, but I know the weight came off because I tracked.

I am so excited for you, just starting out! What are you doing? A program or on your own?

Thanks, Liz!

Nice to meet you Mary Anne!

Ok, my name is Erika and I am the reason Liz started this thread...the above mentioned "helping my friends..." ahem...that would be ME.

I have had great success here and am almost at goal. :cool1: MUCH of my success is thanks to the wonderful and amazing friends I have made here.

However, I have been on a plateau for, well, months really! And I am frustrated beyond words. Exercise...not a problem. I never miss, never wimp out, never make excuses. I work-out hard core 6x/week. Today I ran 8 miles. Yup, count 'em, 8! I followed that up with a 15 minute core work-out. Told you I was hard core! :rotfl2:

BUT...no matter how far I run or how much I work out, I am not losing. I have played with a variety of eating plans...South Beach, WW, and just plain ol' counting calories, but none are really giving me the success I have been hoping for. Ideally, I have about 15 pounds left to go, but would be happy with 10 at this point.

After talking with Liz, she is convinced that I need to track my food. I am sure she is right. The problem? I HATE IT! I hate counting and logging and measuring, and the whole tracking process. But honestly, I think it will get my scale moving in the right direction again.

There are no rules here (yet! HA! :rotfl2: ) other than to help each other stay on track (with whatever you need to stay on track with...food, exercise, etc.) Eventually, we would like to set up some sort of fun and friendly challenge. You can post your food or exercise right here on the thread, or if you use another site (like SparkPeople, WW Online, FitDay, etc.) you can log your food/exercise there and just come here and tell us you are still on track for the day.

Ok, enough for now...glad this is up and running! :goodvibes

Yeah, she is a true goddess and I am so proud of her! :goodvibes

Nice to meet everyone. I am on WW and started 5/19. I weighed in today and lost 1.8 lbs this past week. I am at 9.2 so far. I'm using the flex plan and signed up for the monthly pass so I am using the online WW site to track.

3 Disney Kids - I am DVC also. I'll be in disney in about 10 days (OKW) and plan on using the kitchen to help me stay on plan. You ran 8 miles, WOW oh double WOW

Do you want the good, (water-uh that's the only good thing I had today)

AND

the bad, (like the Butterfinger I am currently working on)?

Okay, the truth comes out! Yes, Erika is the reason for the thread...but I know you can do it, Erika!!! You can be a tracker!

Yeah, she is a true goddess and I am so proud of her! :goodvibes

Oh, thank you, honey! :goodvibes

You will soon learn Erika is an exercise maniac! Don't worry, the rest of us sit on our couches plenty!

Mary Anne, you have done great on WW so far! I am impressed! I have the monthly pass, too; I love it. I use the recipe builder a lot.

WDW in 10 days??? Wow, tell usmore! PTR?

Do you want the good, (water-uh that's the only good thing I had today)

AND

the bad, (like the Butterfinger I am currently working on)?

We want it all, babe. Every last stinking candy bar!

It's 11 pm NY time and I need to go to bed, but I promise to come back over the weekend and tell you about my WW trip to the World

Yes, Lyz, we want it ALL even the Butterfingers! (What's up with that? Thought you were a Hershey's Girl! :rotfl2: )

Ok, so I started TRACKING all of my crap today! UGH. Yuck! Yes, you are gonna hear me moan and groan and wine and complain.

I am tracking my water again, too. (Yes, I even stopped tracking that. I know...I know....)

SO....how and where do you all track? Online? Just a list on a slip of paper? FirDay? Spark? WW? other?

I am a tracker form way back (we're talking years here), but I always managed to fall off the wagon after a few weeks. I am proud to announce that I have been journaling for 22 weeks. The pages don't always look good (hence why I am only down 13 lbs in those 22 weeks), but I have every page. I have tons of weddings (6 to be exact), trips (a total of three weeks worth) and other social activities (don't get me started), this summer, so the book may not look all that good until October, but at least I have it.

I have "my little black book." It was actually a very old day planner I got in Disney when I was 14. It made me feel grown up when I bought it, but the novelty of using it wore off fast. I found it again a few months ago and decided to use it for a new purpose. It is faux black leather with a little silver mickey head clasp and teeth marks from when my animals tried to steal it! ::yes:: I bought blank divider (day runner brand fits) and made 10 tabs.

Food ( i write down the item, amount, calories and protein)
exercise (what activity, how long, calories burned, and distance walked)
weekly (comparing calories ate to calories burned per day)
Motivation (i get a reward every 5 lbs and this is the list of them that I check off)
Reference (food calories, and exercise calories aka a banana-100g has 95 cal and 1 pro)
Small accomplishments (a list of things I have done to look back on-like not eating the piece of cake that was offered to me)
Monitor (where I record my weight weekly and measurements monthly)
Resolutions (where I check off drinking all my water every day and walking at least 5 miles)
Sleep/Cravings (i write down how long a slept and what I am craving everyday to help make sense of it)
Calendar (self explanatory- it is a day planner)

All the pages (minus the calendar) I made myself in excel and cut to fit and punched holes in. The food and exercise use a page per day, weekly is obviously one a week, the sleep and craving is weekly as well and the resolutions are monthly. When the book gets to full, I put the used pages in a box in my closet. Not sure exactly why, but I may want to look back on them one day I suppose.

I just started making changes this week in my eating and exercise habits so I'm very glad that I stumbled onto W.I.S.H!!!! 6 years ago I lost 35lbs and went down to a size 5 then I got a nice little cushion office job and the weight has piled on year after year...having a baby never helps either! I'm only 5 foot tall so being a size 12 isn't appealing to my body frame at all. I dont even care if I make it to a size 5 again. I really need to lose at least 30.

So...I'm here to join in on the weight lose adventure. I did it once, I can do it again. Here's to a summer full of healthy changes!!!

:cheer2:

Welcome Chic! Glad to have you here.

I am 5'2" and needed to lose about 30 pounds also when I started this journey. I am down to the last 10. I can't seem to get 'em off no matter what, but I am still trying. You have come to the right place!

Heck I'm 5 ft and weigh slightly over 220. I too was a size 5 once. Honest, I don't even think I want to be that size again, I was 20 then I'm going to be 57 in a few months. I just want to look nice, fit into some nice business suits and feel good about myself. I'm targeting 150 as a goal which I know is still 22 lbs OVER my target weight but if I can get just to there, I will take the next 20 lbs in 10 lb weight loss goals.

We are off to Disney next week to celebrate my youngest son's HS Graduation, Father's Day and then my oldest son's 20th Birthday. He is already planning next year to be there for his 21st and being able to order is first beer at the ESPN Club :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I have no idea how I now have a child that is one year away from ordering a beer. Where did the time go. I bought him his first Mickey Bar just a few days ago, I'm sure of it.

We'll be at a 1 bedroom OKW for the first 5 nights and then will be moving over to the Cabins at Fort Wilderness for the next 3 nights. I'm counting on the full kitchen to help me stay on my WW plan.

I'm calling this trip report The World on WW - How to stay on points (and not DVC ones) I'll have my laptop with me and will at a minimum update you all everyday with how I'm managing my food plans. Maybe I should put it on the journals board.

Can't wait to read your report! Have a great time!

Ok, I am tracking today. I hate it, but I am tracking it. Grrrrr....

I actually got up and went to Pilates this morning! Monday 6 am is torture, but worth it. We leave for big trip #1 in three weeks and I would love to make my next goal by then. I can do it!:thumbsup2

You can totally do it! Good for you!

Okay, i am a horrible thread mother! A good tracker, but a horrible thread mother! :(

My last few days have been a lot of family stuff, and I just haven't been online!

So, to reply to all of you...

WOW I am so impressed with your tracker! What a fantastic system, and how organized! I love that you have the rewards that you are ticking off, and i love that it's the good, the bad, and the ugly, too. And also that you chart other things beside food - moods, sleep, so you really pay attention to your body. Those are just amazingly awesome habits and I am so glad you decided to join us on this thread!

And also? I adore Excel, so welcome to the spreadsheet club!

I know exactly what you mean, about losing the weight and putting it on again! I lost 30lbs in 2005-2006 and then just let it go! But not this time! *Clinks bottle of water* Here's to our healthy summer!

Heck I'm 5 ft and weigh slightly over 220. I too was a size 5 once. Honest, I don't even think I want to be that size again, I was 20 then I'm going to be 57 in a few months. YES put it on the journal boards! And give us the link so we can follow you! I am so excited that you are headed to WDW! What a fun trip! We went over to FW on our last trip and now I totally want to stay in the cabins. It was so nice over there, and it looks awesome for families. I'm not DVC (yet) so I haven't stayed at OKW but it looks very pretty.

150 is my goal weight, too!

Can't wait to read your report! Have a great time!

Ok, I am tracking today. I hate it, but I am tracking it. Grrrrr....

Good for you, Erika! How did you decide to track? Online?

I actually got up and went to Pilates this morning! Monday 6 am is torture, but worth it. We leave for big trip #1 in three weeks and I would love to make my next goal by then. I can do it!:thumbsup2

OMG, 6am!!! Goddess crown for you! :thumbsup2

I have a crazy day today and I'm going out to dinner, and my weigh in is tomorrow....ack! BUT, I am going out to a raw food restaurant in NYC, do you think that all mostly counts as veggies??? I am so unsure how to track the food I'll have there! Advice???

Also, no time for the gym today, lots of client meetings but I did do a step class yesterday, first time, and didn't fall off the step once!
