Here is the "Arline update" that I sent to anyone in her family/friends that I have email addresses for. Unfortunately not all of her relatives have computers and that sucks. I can't keep calling all these people so I'm trying to do it via email.
Sometime during the night Wednesday night, they believe that Arline aspirated. Thursday morning the nursing home called me saying that her oxygenation was low and that they were concerned. They called 911 and the paramedics took her to Los Alamitos Hospital across the street. Yesterday she was diagnosed with pneumonia, a bladder infection and she evidently had a small stroke on the front of her brain. When Patric, Carrie and I saw her she was mildly alert, seemed to understand her situation, but couldnt remember how she got there. She was stable overnight and showed improvement on the infections.
"Around 5AM they moved her from the ER to ICU, she was mostly stable until this afternoon when her oxygenation dropped dramatically. They put her on a mask and called a pulmonary specialist to take a look at her. No one could figure out why it happened, but they agreed that she needed to be placed on a ventilator before she coded. Last night she indicated to Dr. Josephson that if they needed to put her on a ventilator to get past the pneumonia, she was in favor of that. Throughout this entire time, she continues to ask me, Hows Fran? Its time she needs to start taking care of herself! Keep her in your prayers.
Dr. Josephson hopes that she will be returning to the nursing home within a week or so, but at this point, we have to take every day at a time."
Ugh, Darcy is going to get here extra early tomorrow, so I'll say good night!
