I TiVo’ed all the NBC primetime coverage so I could watch it at my leisure. I liked being able to fast forward through the segments that don’t interest me. I watched over 40 hours total, I would guess. I’m an Olympics junkie! LOL :teeth:

I watched a lot of it when I was waking up-in the morning , ans when I came back from work . And a lot during the weeken: The live coverage by the CBC was very good.

The closing ceremonies yesterday were amazing and made me very proud since most of the people who organized it were from Montréa l ! I watched them live a 2PM ( While NBC was showing one of thousands basketball games !) When I tried to watch the NBC coverage at night , it started with a 20 minute piece about, not the olympic spirit , not the achievent of atlhtes , not a recap of how the american did , but a story ( that could have been fascinating during a 20/20 type show) about how an african-american participated in the liberation of Italy durin WW2. So once again , the Turino Games were not about the games , or the city Of Turino , but about the USA again !

I watched most of the Prime Time coverage. Probably in the 10 - 20 hour range.

I am a SPORTS FAN. A fan of all sports. I love the competition, no matter the sport. Yes, some sports are much more boring than others, and with those, I probably paid much less attention to.

A vent here........I listen to a local sport talk radio station. These are supposedly "sports guys". And they do all they can to bash sports that pretty much just don't interest them. I can understand if you don't like a sport, but you don't need to bash the sport. They seem to do the same with women's sports. [/end rant]

I watched all the Primetime Coverage, most of the NBC weekend coverage, and quite a bit of curling and hockey on the cable channels. I would have to say 40+ hours. I love the Olympics, and I enjoy the winter events because I there are less events and I think they show more of the competition (not just the highlights).

One of my favorite "finds" during this years coverage was Olympic Ice. That show was great. I loved the insight into all the skaters, not just the favorites. I also liked a lot of the behind the scenes stuff and the commentators were hysterical at times. I normally get a little sick of all the coverage ice skating gets, but I really enjoyed watching this show and got hooked on it.

Less than 15 minutes. DBF turned it on one day last week and I fell asleep about 10 minutes into it.

Zero. With all the pre-Olympics hype that the U.S. would sweep everything, it seemed almost pointless to watch. Now I sort of regret not watching to see all the super-hyped athletes not being so "golden" anymore.

My Olympic addiction started when I was very young and my mom and I sat glued to the tv. I love everything from start to finish but will admit that I'm more into the winter games than summer. I enjoyed most of what NBC did but there were other channels to flip to (USA and MSNBC) which helped when NBC fell short.
I agree with some of the other comments here, especially about the ice skating. I love ice skating but I couldn't even sit through the entire men's competition. The women were only slightly better, especially their long programs. I'm so happy for Ben and Tanith though! The pairs were pretty exciting compared to the individual events. I think a big part of it for me is the new scoring...I don't think I'll ever really get it.
I'm sad to see the Olympics over because it seems to be forever until it's back around but at least I'll get back to a normal sleep routine!

Keep in mind that sports take radio (or any talk radio for that matter) isn't about covering sports. It's about saying bad things about people. People like to say bad things about others, and listed to folks on the radio doing the same.

Even for sports they like, pay attention to what they cover. How much time is spent covering the actual sporting events, and how much time is spent saying what an idiot TO or Kobe or Barry Bonds is.

Seems like everytime we tuned in they were either curling zzz zzz zzz zzz zzz zzzz zzzzzz or skating. The skating was routinely vetoed by my husband and son.I didn't put up a fuss because I though it NOT inspiring this year. We watched one hockey game. I didn't like the NBC coverage. I wanted to see more sports and less talking heads. We did catch some ski jumping and snoboarding; now that was fun!!!

I know....I was trying to remember what sport they were showing and was asport that is on every sunday of the year , and I did not understand why , on sunday , they could not show the closing ceremonies live , as it was happening.

Because it's the closing ceremonies? :confused3 :confused3

Seriously, what about the closing ceremony was important enough to show live? I can understand wanting more live coverage of sporting events, but I'm pretty sure whether the closing ceremony was live or tape delayed, it would have had the same effect. :rotfl2:

The rerason for showing only the Olympics at night was a question of rating: put everything in prime time and package it. I Understand that for a week event , but a sunday event , when most people are at home , I feel that a world event is more important that a round of golf or a nascar race. But that is just my feeling , and that is why I am very happy with the Olympic coverage we had here in canada !

Thanks to digital recording, I watched most of the ice skating with my daughter. We just watched the ladies' final last night. If it weren't for DVR, I would probably skip it. Too many commercials and all that back and forth, sport to sport.

I agree with previous posters though, that the skating was pretty unexciting this year. The only drama was the Italian dance couple not speaking to each other and then making up.

The personal story coverage was pretty strange too if you ask me. Way too obviously trying to dig up some emotion...

I watched at least 3 hrs/day for the entire duration. It was great having it live. I rarely watched it at night.

We watched every day for 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
