Ooohhh!! A surprise trip? So fun! We did that last August. I planned and planned the trip and didn't tell our girls until 30 minutes before the taxi picked us up for the airport where we were going! I stacked our suitcases along with 2 my pal mickeys up in the living room and brought the kids downstairs with eyes closed. We put them in front of the pile and opened eyes. It took them a minute to catch on! So fun!!:rotfl2:

We did the drive from MA ~ 23 hours straight  ~ but honestly, it was one of the easiest drives we've ever taken. We did the overnight thing - left around 5PM, picked up dinner on the road to occupy the kids for a little bit, and then pulled out the portable DVD player ~ these kids have it made with all the portable gadgets now....the only thing we had to do in the car on long trips is beat each other and drive the parents up the wall  We got to WDW around 4PM the next afternoon. Now we planned the 1st 2 days as hotel/do nothing days and had 11 nights there so it wasn't a big deal to do the 24 hour stretch drive. We went to bed early the 1st day and I was ready to go the next day.

WOW!! We live 24 hours but have never attempted to drive straight through. :worship: :worship: We always drive 12 hours and then stop overnight in Nashville and then drive the other 12. We always stay at Comfort Suites, where there is an indoor pool(wears the kids out) and a full breakfast in the morning. Suprisingly, it's not that bad and the kids do great, we bring lots of activities and take lots of potty breaks, the meals in the car help break up the time as well. We always take a DVD player and borrow videos from friends that the kids haven't seen. I read here on the Dis that window clings and dry erase markers are fun for the kids to use on the windows of the car. Also pipe cleaners, kids make lots of crazy things with those. Books are a great quiet time activity. Time goes by anyway, might as well sit in the car and be going to WDW!!:cheer2:

Those are some gret ideas, Thanks!:goodvibes Dh won't be real happy about the dry erase markers, but I say whatever keeps them busy keeps them quiet!:rotfl: We plan on taking the portable DVD player bu the only problem is I have 1 girl who is in pre-teen mode and 2 boys who would spend ALL day watching spongebob! I guess I'll have to make a plan on who gets to pick the movie first.....They better be happy or I'll drop them off at their grandma's in FL and I'll go to disney alone!:woohoo:
