I remember watching Whose Line is it Anyway when it was still only on Comedy Central, it was one of those British imports. The host was a British guy whose name I don't remember. The cast was never the same from week to week, but Brian and Colin were on it pretty frequently.

Does anyone else remember this show? I bring it up because I just always wondered what happened to the host...did they just oust him when ABC took over the show, in favor of a more recognizable face, or did he quit on his own, etc. Anyone know? I loved this show back then, its still great, but that issue of the host has been nagging at me!

I'd only seen the British version after seeing the American version with Drew Carey. I don't often understand the British humor and many times missed the gag. Drew's show is on ABC family at 11 & 11:30.

We used to watch that all the time....

At first I liked it better than the American version, but now I relly like the American guys :)

Clive Anderson was the host of the English version. By profession he was a barrister (lawyer). Recently he has been a presenter for a BBC show "Before the Booker" and he also a 6 part show called "What if" about rewriting history.

Don't know what ever happened to him, but his name is Clive Anderson.

Clive Anderson continues to be a popular presenter of TV and radio shows in the UK. "Whose Line Is it Anyway?" was/is just one of his shows.

Regards

Rob

The show still runs in Britain where it originated. Drew Carey hosts only the American vesion of the show.

I like the British version better, likely because I saw it first and had watched many times before seeing the takeoff of it here.

I saw the British version first and found it hilarious. That being said, I enjoy the US version, as well.

I personally love the British version. I thought the "props" segments were hilarious.

I LOOOVVVVVEEEE the props segments. Another favorite segment of mine is "scenes from a hat."

I still prefer the British version of Whose Line, although the US version is great.

Some of the regulars from the British version, besides Colin Mochrie and Ryas Stiles would include........

Greg Proops, Tony Slattery (my favorite... he's just nuts), Paul Merton, Mike McShane, Josie Lawrence, Sandy Toxvig, Jim Sweeney, Steve Steen, Stephen Frost, John Sessions, Chip Estin and Richard Vranch on the piano. Would you like me to keep going or have I bragged enough LOL
