Hi everyone! I'm so sorry I have been missing for so long but everything has been so very busy here.
First, I wanted to tell everyone how much your condolences and prayers have meant to me and to Kenny. He and I are both very touched by your support and I wanted to be sure to thank all of you.
Also, I wanted to send Kathy a HUGE thank you for all her support over the past week. She has been PMing me and letting me vent to her and has truly been wonderful. Thank you so much sweetie. I'll never forget it.
The memorial service is tommorrow morning at 11:00. Kenny's uncles and aunts are arriving today and we are looking forward to seeing them, especially the uncle Kenny has never met.
I would like to be able to report that the fences were mended and the relationship healed before Kenny's Dad passed away, but sadly, that was not the case. He chose to spend his final days pushing his children away. I think it is this loss that is so very hard for Kenny and his sisters - the death of the possibility of a relationship with their father.
When he became unable to physically speak, we took our DS to see him as he had been asking repeatedly to see his grandfather. We did not want him to go prior because we were afraid his grandfather would reject him as well. This worked out very well because it allowed DS to have some closure without the risk of the emotional rejection. He has said he was glad he had the opportunity to go.
Now I am trying to get through the craziness of the rest of this week and prepare for a visit from Kenny's old college roommate. He decided to come for a visit and arrives Friday afternoon and leaves Monday morning (staying with us). So I am trying to finalize my menu today so I can hit the grocery stores tonight after the family dinner. I figure I can straighten the house tomorrow afternoon after the service and do a couple of loads of laundry. Then it is back to work on Friday.
Tonight's dinner is being graciously provided by the ladies from Kenny's oldest sister's church. I am extremely thankful because it looked for a while like it was going to be my responsibility.
I don't have time to catch up on the reading, but I hope to this weekend. I know several of you have trips which are close. If I don't have a chance to tell you later, I hope you all have a good time.
