EEEEEEEEeeeeee I'm so excited I could burst!!!! :cool1: Lauren, thanks for that link I hadn't seen it! I must stop all eating now! There is so many things I can't wait to try!!!!

Tonight it's Jambasta and roasted garlic bread.

WFD at your house?

ETA: To all of those who posted about being on iron supplements, a question: I am experiencing an odd but well received side effect. Confession time. I am a compulsive overeater. I eat just because it's there. That's why I have trouble with my weight. I've battled with it for many years. Anyway, every since I have been on this iron supplement, it has stopped. My mouth isn't hungry anymore. Basically I just eat when I am hungry. I have dropped a few pounds in the week I have been on it. Pretty awesome, huh? It really makes me wonder if my body was just craving iron all this time and that's why I never could get control over my problem, as hard as I tried.

I haven't lost my appetite or anything. Just my desire to graze all day long.

Has anyone else had this side effect from their iron supplement? I see my doctor again next week to check on this and I will mention it to him. I just wanted to hear it from the people actually taking it.

Lindsay, I haven't been able to stay on the iron long enough to see if it would decrease my appetite. I'll pm you about this, so I don't gross everyone out with my IBS issues!

Lauren- I was looking forward to the F&W festival before, but now I wish we were spending more time there. I could eat and drink myself around the world several times over :rotfl2:

Wendie- You know how it is, you see things and they call you. I am really taking it easy, Buddy was pretty irritated last week so I am not looking to get tattled on :rotfl::rotfl: BTW- Easy to tell you work with kids!
You also watch what you do, your surgery is right around the corner so be careful.

I am not sure about dinner yet, I am not hungry so nothing appeals to me.

So much food & drink and so little time!!!;) Nancy, I'm still out of the loop here, but are you going to be having surgery for the torn PTL? Did you tear the tendons or was there bone damage too? I ask because Bob had surgery on his leg about 8 yrs ago. He didn't tear the tendon, his tendons are so tight, that the tendon stayed intact but pulled away part of the bone it was attached to. So he had a dangling PTL not attached to anything.

Here are some photos from last night. The chicken with shallots, rosemary, and garlic, just out of the oven:

And plated with a baked potato and mapley winter squash:

I made a batch of paneer (indian cheese) last night, so am probably going to try and make mutter paneer and naan for dinner tonight.

How come your food looks as good as all of the F&W plates!!!!!! :thumbsup2

I've made paneer before! I was surprised that it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be! I made saag paneer (spinach), what's mutter?

Wendie, Thanks! Sounds like your going to have a great long weekend!

I don't know if Kathy can explain the taste of coffee & chicory. I can't really explain it, other than it's good coffee! But I did find this on the Luzianne coffee site.

In New Orleans, coffee with chicory is by far the most popular drink, outselling regular coffee by leaps and bounds. And since New Orleanians drink more coffee per capita than anywhere else in the country, obviously they know a good thing when they taste it.

Chicory is a natural flavor enhancer, and its slight sweetness and caramel-like undertone make it the perfect companion to coffee, producing a brew of deeper color, extra smoothness and added body. Its natural sweetness counteracts the bitterness of coffee, making it much smoother and more flavorful.

Dinner last night was marinated curry chicken breast that I grilled along with grilled veggies & tabouli salad. If I get back to closet cleaning today like I should, we'll be eating the leftovers for dinner tonight.

I am excited as well! I have a different POV though, I have not stopped eating, I figure that I'll deal with my weight and all the extra once I get home :thumbsup2

OMG! I cannot have enough sympathy for Bob! I just tore the PTL and that hurt, I cannot imagine having it pull from the bone. I won't need surgery, the Dr said that the PE should help a lot. My sister just wanted to make sure I listened to him because I she did not think I was taking it all seriously.

That sounds so good! I like good coffee and this sounds like amazing coffee!

Nancy, I'm so glad you won't have to have surgery!!!!!:cool1: :goodvibes That is good news!
Bob is a real tough guy when it comes to broken body parts, he's done it so much! Just don't let him catch a cold, then he's a whiney baby. That surgery was a bad one though, he had to wait a week for the swelling to go down, before they could do it. The bone that seperated had to be reattached with a huge pin, which is still in his knee. You can actually see it under his skin, ewww it's gross. They are not going to remove it unless it starts to give him problems. So I'm really glad you won't have to go through all of that!!!

We brew our coffee very strong down here. Cafe au lait is strong brewed coffee & chicory with about a 1/4 cup of steamed milk added. It's the best, but I really like all kinds of coffee. Lately I've been grinding a mix of Columbian & Sumatran beans, strong but smooth. Poor me, when I'm lazy I just brew a good ole pot of Community Coffee & Chicory!!! ;)

Today will be all eating out. Lunch somewhere on the way to the funeral and dinner somewhere on the way back. I wish we could stay in our hometown longer today after the funeral but i have a meeting at 7 tonight i can't miss so we'll have to eat and run.

This whole responsibility stuff really stinks sometimes =)

So Sheryl.....Can I be like that 10 year old when I see Bob at F&WF and ask to see his pin?!? :lmao: I'm a sickie like that; Now ya'll see why Ross and I will get along fine- it's the same age mentality....actually, Ross might be ahead of me on that!:rotfl2:

And chicory coffee is kick your butt strong stuff! I'm a wimp and can only do it as cafe au lait. Hmm, maybe I need to walk over to Cafe DuMonde now. mmmm, begniets.

Anyways, Rick's coming home early this week- like this afternoon! I'd like to make something with the green onion sausage I've found. Any ideas? I thought pasta but what kind of sauce? I'm so confused.:upsidedow

Sheryl--thank you so much for the explanation...that sounds sooo goood!! I am a coffee addict, and I love good strong coffee. I need to get myself down there just for it I think!!! Hmm better get a beter reason to get Kris to go along with it, as he HATES coffee..he can't even stand the smell.

Lori--I must tell the truth and say nope....Ross might be super smart but he has the most immature sense of humor which is why I find him a riot I guess.
As for seeing the pin..I would want to too....I have already told my dr that I do not want a sleeping pill for my surgery, just numb me from the shoulder down, and make sure I can see the tv screen too! I think he thinks I was joking, but I am serious!!

You are really determined to freak Bob out, aren't you?! :lmao: Actually he's a guy & you know how they love to show off scars & such! :confused3

Wendie & Nancy, PM me your address & I'll send y'all some coffee!!!

Wendie, Either my CRS (Can't Remember Sh*!) has kicked in again or I missed it. What kind & when are you having surgery?

Sheryl - good job finding that description. I was having trouble trying to figure how to describe that taste!! And Lori - did you get your Cafe du Monde? Cuz I got mine! I stopped on my way into work.

I had no idea that there were gonna be so many different foods at the F&W fest. I've planned three days there but know I'm not sure that's gonna be enough!!

I think I may pick up some chinese food for dinner tonight.

I don't do it on purpose.:lmao: Really! I just have a big personality that sometimes gets in the way of my sanity. Now you watch.....I'll show up to meet ya'll at F&WF all subdued and everything and you'll look at me like I'm crazy and Bob'll just think I'm boring! But if I show up in a lime green boa, with a blinky wine glass, and fun stuff to play with......well.....at least the kids will like me!:lmao: :lmao:

Last nights dinner was Fridge Dump Soup.
A good way to clean out the fridge.

Tonight I will be cooking some boneless pork chops - the ones from Omaha Steaks. Just not sure yet how I'm going to cook them. But I am serving them with some CousCous and corn and maybe some pinto beans and crescent rolls.

Have a good day everyone!

Bob is boring, Bob likes boring!!!

Nancy, She's not joking you know! She really will show up in a lime green boa with a blinky wine glass & luckily we'll have kids along, so at least everything will (hopefully) be G-Rated! If Rick shows up with a bottle of hard shell Chocolate, I'll just die!!!!!! :lmao: :rotfl:

Yea. This is definitely gonna be a fun day! My DH is an introverted soul (also a Bob). Yep. Gonna be fun! Gonna make for some fun pics as well :rotfl: Geez, I can't wait :woohoo:

Well, no Magic Shell on the list.... but I do have matching boas for all the gals! :rotfl2:

It's a F-lime Feathered Flocking to Food & Wine Flest!:lmao: :lmao:

I've made paneer before! I was surprised that it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be! I made saag paneer (spinach), what's mutter?

Mutter paneer is a dish that incorporates the paneer and green peas in a creamy tomato curry sauce. It's one of my favorite indian dishes. I would say the flavor of the sauce is similar to a tikka masala, if you've had that.

All this food and wine talk has me curious...when are you guys going to be there? It's looking likely that our F+W weekend will be the first weekend of November--the 2nd-5th.

Wendie my Dad is the same way as you when he has surgeries. He loves to watch them doing it! I think I would be too grossed out. I get really weird about seeing my blood, it makes me nauseous ever since the time I donated blood to the Red Cross, stood up from the table and promptly passed out!

Hi everyone! I'm so sorry I have been missing for so long but everything has been so very busy here.

First, I wanted to tell everyone how much your condolences and prayers have meant to me and to Kenny. He and I are both very touched by your support and I wanted to be sure to thank all of you.

Also, I wanted to send Kathy a HUGE thank you for all her support over the past week. She has been PMing me and letting me vent to her and has truly been wonderful. Thank you so much sweetie. I'll never forget it.

The memorial service is tommorrow morning at 11:00. Kenny's uncles and aunts are arriving today and we are looking forward to seeing them, especially the uncle Kenny has never met.

I would like to be able to report that the fences were mended and the relationship healed before Kenny's Dad passed away, but sadly, that was not the case. He chose to spend his final days pushing his children away. I think it is this loss that is so very hard for Kenny and his sisters - the death of the possibility of a relationship with their father.

When he became unable to physically speak, we took our DS to see him as he had been asking repeatedly to see his grandfather. We did not want him to go prior because we were afraid his grandfather would reject him as well. This worked out very well because it allowed DS to have some closure without the risk of the emotional rejection. He has said he was glad he had the opportunity to go.

Now I am trying to get through the craziness of the rest of this week and prepare for a visit from Kenny's old college roommate. He decided to come for a visit and arrives Friday afternoon and leaves Monday morning (staying with us). So I am trying to finalize my menu today so I can hit the grocery stores tonight after the family dinner. I figure I can straighten the house tomorrow afternoon after the service and do a couple of loads of laundry. Then it is back to work on Friday.

Tonight's dinner is being graciously provided by the ladies from Kenny's oldest sister's church. I am extremely thankful because it looked for a while like it was going to be my responsibility.

I don't have time to catch up on the reading, but I hope to this weekend. I know several of you have trips which are close. If I don't have a chance to tell you later, I hope you all have a good time.
