Kathy - just to clarify - the Tony's gravy mix is a powder, not a liquid. the container is yellow and designed like the seasonings. I'm not sure that what I told you last night was clear?!?

Thanks, I know exactly what it is!:thumbsup2

Tonight I am making something new. I saw Rachael Ray make it on her talk show. It's double chicken and dumpling stoup. It looked so good, I am going to give it a try. I will post a recipe if it turns out good.

WFD at your house?

ETA: My doctor put me on an iron supplement yesterday to build mine back up. Apparently I am seriously lacking in it, therefore accounting for my lack of energy. The catch is if you drink coffee and tea (black, not green) it will constipate you. Ugh. So I'm sitting here with a cup of green tea, hoping I will be ok this morning.

I'm on an iron supplement as well. I had some problems at first, but as I increased my water intake, it really helped with the constipation. Now, if I don't take my iron, I can get really dizzy. It's scary how dependant I am on it! I used to think I got enough iron from all the dark leafy greens I eat, but it's just not so!

Every time I get a blood test done, the doc tries to put me on iron again. But with the IBS I already have I just can't take it. I try really hard to get enough in the foods I eat.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's dinner didn't go as planned. I was getting all ready to do the shepherd's pie, when my son and his best friend came into the house just screaming, ripping their shirts off. Apparently, they had disturbed a wasp nest in the woods near our house, and they were both under attack. They both had trapped a couple of wasps inside their shirts, and by the time they got to my house, they were covered in bites/stings. Jacob ended up with 3 on his tummy, 3 on an elbow, and 1 on his head. Poor little Connor got it the worst, 16 bites on his back, and 8 on his tummy! It was a really sad afternoon for those 2 boys. Luckily, there were no reactions to the bites, and Jacob is feeling 100% better this morning.

I had to take some time to get rid of the wasps that they brought home with them inside their shirts, and then get some relief for their pain. Got Connor home, gave Jacob benedryl and tylenol, and by that time, no one wanted shepherd's pie. I gave the kids tomato soup and sandwiches, and zapped a precooked chicken breast for me.

Poor boys!!! Thank God they didn't have any reactions! That's a lot of bites, glad they are both okay!

This no coffee is killing me. I can hardly keep my eyes open.

Lindsay, Thank goodness I haven't had to give up the coffee, cus I've tried tea to get going & it just doesn't cut it! Luckily for me, with the IBS, the coffee has the opposite effect on me!

Lindsay..I'm addicted to caffeine, and if i don't get it I get a migraine..If you start to get a headache/ nausea too you may be getting a caffeine withdrawl migraine..

I'm roasting a whole chicken and making stuffing, mashed potatoes and creamed spinich with it..I'll use the leftovers to make matzoh ball soup to take to Ed while he's in the hospital.

Jenny, That sounds soo yummy! When does Ed go in?

What's for dinner tonight is lamb chops. I can't decide if I'm going to be good & just grill them with Meditterenean seasonings & serve with tabouli. Or go with Kathy's Outback Sauce on them & maybe some cheesy grits! and some cooked greens. That's really what I want, but that would so blow the diet!

!

He sees the doctor at 3 PM tomorrow, and there is a very good chance he will be admitted right away..If they can do the procedure tomorrow night, he should come home the next morning..If he has the procedure Friday morning, I think he should come home Saturday..It's a pretty serious blockage,so they want to take care of this right away..I'm so dreading this whole thing, and i've come to realize that even though he is healed from the surgery, we are going to have health concerns for the rest of his life...I'm going to try really really hard to cut out all of the junk food and eat all organic/healthy.

Piglet, Was that Edge Cab really a good price? About how much can I expect to find it for?

I paid about $20 for it at my local wine cellar.
Its that price online too.
To some that may sound high - I usually don't spend much more than that unless I'm buying a wine I know is excellent or is great for aging or something.
Good wines come in all price ranges though...

WFD? Tonight DH won't be home so I'm thawing out some crab cakes and a stuffed Sole from Omaha Steaks. Seafood indulgence for me tonight!
Now - just gotta decide what bottle of wine to open....:cool2:

Not sure what tonight's dinner will be, as we are going out for dd's birthday! I'm sure it will be something good though!:woohoo:

How insane am I.....at 1am I started making popcorn balls for them to take, as I know that they needed extra snacks. There are 24 kids and 32 total with parents and the marine resource workers. So I made 40, I got to bed at 3am, by the time they cooled and I could wrap them up. I was back up at 5:30.
I have a hair appt at 10:30 so I think that I will take a quick nap for an hour.

You are such a good Mom! I am amazed at the Moms we have on this thread, you all make me tired just hearing about all you do, this old gal could never keep up :rotfl:

Now you take it easy during your "time off".

Tonight will be, sadly, something fast food. All the recipes I picked out for this week are more labor intensive then I want to do after I work 12 hours and come in at 830 from work. Wednesdays are ALWAYS like that - why do I continue to not plan 1 easy meal each week?

I'll do the usual - call DH when I left church tonight and see what he's craving =)

I can't imagine cooking at all with the hours that you put in :confused3

Tonight we are having leftover meatballs and I have no idea what else. Maybe a rice pilaf, but I just don't know. Kenny is planning on telling the children tonight about their grandfather, so I don't think it really matters what we eat.

It must seem to you that it is never going to end. :grouphug: It will get better, I think, but it is going to take time. He has been through so much and you have got to be exhausted between worrying about Ed, your Mom and then taking care of the kids. I'll be praying for a speedy recovery for Ed and for some more strength for you.

Not sure what tonight's dinner will be, as we are going out for dd's birthday! I'm sure it will be something good though!:woohoo:

Well, a big :bday: :cake: :bday: to your DD. How old is she?

Luckily my Mother is doing really well..She said the other day that she now feels better than she has in a year..She still has the second cancerous kidney to be dealt with.

Thanks, I'll look for it! I usually keep it under $20 bucks unless I know it's a good one! Sounds like you need a nice chardonnay with dinner! :goodvibes

Poor boys!!! Thank God they didn't have any reactions! That's a lot of bites, glad they are both okay!

Don't I know it! I was so worried all night long! I kept getting up to check on Jacob throughout the night. My grandfather was a beekeeper and he was deathly allergic to their stings! He had to carry an epi pen with him when he went to the hives. I inherited that allergy, and have been so worried that my kids would be allergic, too. However, 3 of my 4 have been bitten/stung multiple times with no reaction, so I guess they dodged that bullet. Still, that many stings/bites really had me thrown for a loop. I talked to Connor's dad, and he said he's just fine. A really red back, but no pain and swelling! They were terribly lucky! This was the second wasp "attack" in 3 weeks. Some other neighborhood boys were at the same place 3 weeks ago, and they all got multiple stings, too. The men in the neighborhood are planning on taking care of the wasps this weekend. That ought to be amusing to watch!

You will all be in my prayers until I hear he's home and ok. :grouphug:

I don't think I ever said "hello" to you! Welcome to our little family! Happy birthday to your dd.

2 eggs, lightly beaten

Morning again all--

Ross is off with his G/T class for his overnight field trip on an island. I helped get the bus packed up and on it's way.

I have to be at school for 1:30 for a meeting until 2pm, and then.... nothing. I have nowhere to be tonight, and I am pretty sure I do not have to be at school tomorrow. So I am free from 2 this afternoon until 6pm tomorrow night. Ross won't do karate tomorrow either as he won't be back until class has started and he will be beat!
I am hoping that Kris won't have to work to late tonight, and we can go out for a late supper somewhere.

Dinner tonight is...?????????

You are such a good Mommy!!!! :goodvibes
