Yes, I've looked for that sweet paprika before & couldn't find it. World Market seems to carry it but is always out of it, when I'm looking for it! I would try it with the turkey & not the chicken, I've found the same thing with ground chicken, blaaah.! I'll pick up some ground turkey & try that later in the week, Thanks!
FYI, I add a sprinkle of cumin in there, too :) Also, make sure you mince your garlic very fine. If you have a MicroPlane, all the better. Grate it up! I've found the garlic flavor goes throughout the burger better that way :)

We don't know the exact location. We don't even know when he is deploying. However, I did hear from him last night and he thinks he might be able to come home two more times...at least once...before he deploys. I didn't think we would see him again until the spring or summer, so that is good news.

Tonight is a skating night, but we won't get home too late. I think I'm making cheeseburgers or pizza.

I can't even begin to understand how hard this must be for you & your kids! :grouphug: The not knowing must make it even tougher to handle. I'm so glad to hear he'll come home a couple of times before being deployed. I know our family appreciates everything your hubby & your family do for our country!:thumbsup2

I have a sad/sweet but funny story related to being deployed. My DD's best friend's husband is in the Guard. (Who is scheduled to be sent to Iraq in March :sad1: )

But right before her friend's wedding, DD's friend called my daughter and she was very distraught. They had just gotten news that her then fiance was going to be deployed. But her call to DD was that her fiance " IS GOING TO BE DEPORTED!!!!" ;)

Janice, thanks for the clarification on the coffee maker and for the offer. DH (Greg) said to thank you (he can't believe someone he doesn't know would be so generous to send him something like that), but he doesn't think he will be able to have it. He thinks on this mission he won't be able to have too much extra stuff. Apparently, coffee maker doesn't make the Army's list of essential items.

Contrary to popular belief I can be very nice. Like I said it was free to me. I
just thought if someone could use it I would share my fortune.

I was surfing at lunch and look what I stumbled on http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/microsites/text/0,,FOOD_9915_51670,00.html#Canada

Lindsay, Thanks for the tips! I do have a microplane & I'll try that!:goodvibes

:confused3 Any of you know anything about different kinds of salmon specifically, COHO Salmon?? That's what I'm thawing out for dinner tonight. It was the "special" at Whole Foods on Friday, so I bought it. I have a filet with the skin on. Is this much different than other types of salmon? Milder or stronger flavor? Marinate it or not? Grill it (on a plank) or bake it? Any tips are appreciated!!!!

Kathy, What's Creole Steak? smothered with onions, tomatoes in there too?

Dredged in flour & browned. Onions, green peppers, celery, garlic, rotel & can of mushroom soup. I am actually using up some stew meat I have in the freezer this time.:goodvibes

Thanks! That is cool!!! :cool1: Two gals on a F&W thread just pm'd me the Irish Lamb Stew recipe & the Scone recipe from last year's fest! If anyone want's those recipes, I'll post them. Now I'm going to have to try that, this eating right is going to be tough!!!

Kathy, that sounds yummy! I'll have to give that one a try sometime soon too!!!

Hi all! I turned the leftover red beans and sausage into a rice and bean soup for dinner. You know who (he who always complains about food with beans or rice) can have leftover chicken and stuffing. I made a beef vegetable soup for Kady. She has only been eating soup for lunch at school.
We'll have tomatoes with a roasted garlic dressing for our salad.

Hi Friends! Last night we had lemon and garlic chicken with blackeyed peas and veggie rice. It was good, and easy.

Today I have to work 8am - 9pm so I am going to grab a piece of pizza before deacons meeting. I am ordering it for the youth group tonight bc they are doing a service project for me so I'll see what is leftover. Yum, yum.

Thanks! I found out today that DH knows where he is headed, but he hasn't told me yet. He is kind of paranoid about sending information out on the Internet. That probably means he would frown upon me putting his location up on here. :confused3 :rotfl:

:confused3 Any of you know anything about different kinds of salmon specifically, COHO Salmon??

Sheryl, I am probably too late, but Coho salmon is much leaner than some other kinds of wild salmon. I would definitely marinate it, especially if you grill it, so it doesn't dry out on you. Serve it with a sauce. If you're baking it, topping it with a mustard sauce and some pecans would be good. If grilling, a butter sauce (I know you're trying to avoid that though) or a cucumber sauce would be tasty.

My stomach didn't want burgers tonight, so I just made pasta with a fresh tomato sauce, rolls and carrot salad.

I guess I'm not with the popular crowd because I have always thought you were nice. Thanks again! And I just saw your ticker...18 days! You must be getting so excited.

BTW, I should tell everyone that my mom blew Becky's surprise last weekend at linner. I'm not sure I did a great job of acting surprised though because I had already guessed what it was, and Becky confirmed it.

ITA - Janice, you are a sweetheart!!!!! Not sure who the crowd is, but they're soooooooo very wrong! 18 days will be here before you know it!!:cool1:

Laura - That was one heck of a surprise, I'm sure you're really excited about it. I've been keeping your DH in my thoughts and prayers and will continue to do so. As stated so many times here on this thread before, please pass on our thanks for what he is sacrificing for us all. We can't say thanks enough.

Janice---I guess I am not popular either!! :goodvibes

Laura---until Becky confirms that you know what it is....I KNOW NOTHING!!! ;)

I sure hope he stays safe. I used to worry big time while my ex was still active with the Marine (during the gulf war) My MIl used to call me several times a day to find out where he was. :confused3

Thanks you all are very sweet :cloud9: I'm like the old disney commercial so excited. The only thing that would top disney is if the Cubs would please stay in 1st place :scared: Their up their down I feel like I'm having a heart attack. Sorry for all you that want their teams to be in the playoffs. I'm tired of "next year"

We don't need to know, just glad to hear that y'all know where it will be. :goodvibes

Laura, No worries! I did a little hunting on the net, so I did marinate the salmon!!! I marinated it in olive oil, sherry, garlic & a little bit of soy sauce. I grilled it on a cedar plank, it came out really good. I'm lucky I kept a close eye on it though, it did cook differently then the regular Atlantic salmon I've cooked. A sauce would have been yummier!
Here's a pic of dinner. Becky's curried sweet potatoes, portobello mushrooms & asparagus I marinated then cooked on the grill with the salmon. It was yummy & we each only ate half of our salmon, so I think we did a bit better on the diet front.

Hello, my old friends!

Sorry I'm MIA!

I just wanted to say hi! :)

I am 99% sure I"m doing a Disney wedding, and I wanted to let you know!

:cloud9:

Glynis, pear butter sounds sooo good.

I made a great little dessert today - I sliced a banana in half long ways and cross ways, put them on a glass dish and sprinkled them with dark chocolate chips and roasted it in the oven until melty. The whole dish was 3 ww points!!

I've been doing soups, salads and sandwiches for dinner unless my dad made extra of my parents' dinner. I did discover a great sandwich at WDW - which I recreated at home three times already -

baguette with pesto, lettuce, tomato, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, cucumber and hummus. It is so delicious and filling!

I also did leftover grilled chicken with sauteed mushrooms, brie and spinach on a whole wheat baguette. Yum!

Today was a mahi mahi burger (omega foods, frozen) with jalapeno and tomato relish. (canned petite tomatoes with jalapenos tossed with a little onion and lime juice)

I hope you're all well!

Tonight we are going to my grandmother's house for dinner.

WFD at your house?

Lindsay Here is a recipe I found Margaritas
Chill out with a twist on the classic--they’re peachy!

Prep Time:15 min
Start to Finish:15 min
Makes:6 servings (about 2/3 cup each)

5 Ratings : 0 Reviews : Rate/Review Recipe

1 medium lime, cut in half
Granulated sugar
3 cups crushed ice
1 cup tequila
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/2 can (12-ounce size) frozen peach juice concentrate, thawed
6 peach slices

1. Rub rims of 6 stemmed glasses with 1 lime half; dip rims of glasses into granulated sugar.
2. Squeeze juice from both lime halves into blender. Add remaining ingredients except peach slices to blender. Cover and blend on high speed until foamy. Pour into glasses. Garnish sides of glasses with peach slices. Serve immediately.

I can't find the recipe I had, everything else I found was frozen. Sorry

Tonight we are having orange chicken in my slow cooker. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Good Morning!

LuLu, glad to see you're back!!! Please keep us posted on all the wedding details. :goodvibes

I am making the Catalina Chicken in the crockpot, white rice and tossed salad. Easy Peezy Lemon Squeezy!!!

Have a great day!

***Just wanted to let you guys know I haven't been around much since A is back in school and Riley came along...I am trying to get the house cleaned and organized. :)

Okay, I know I've missed some stuff around here--Do we know what the surprise is????? Inquiring minds want to know!;)

Let's see--I didn't post yesterday, but the foccacia from tues. turned out great. Had it with some pesto/pasta and some green beans with a tomato vinagrette. Last night was a new recipe, Chilequiles. Interesting and tasty. The recipe said it was like a "mexican lasagna" Okay, so NOTHING like lasagna, but tasty none the less.

Any of ya'll in Humberto's path???? It's scary how quickly a storm can become a hurricane!:scared1: Luckily, it was a "tame" one. We're gonna get some rain from it--and I was just getting used to the beautiful fall-like weather we've been having.

Have a great Thursday all! Oh, WFD tonight......I think Italian chicken salad with cornmeal flatbread.
