Well hello there friends....feels like I have been MIA for weeks and weeks....I missed way to much to catch up on it all, so I will start fresh as of today....I tried popping in to keep an eye on things during breaks at school..but even that wasn't enough to know what was going on!!

School started Tues, and for someone who was going to only have to work that day for a few weeks, sure was there a lot, lol!! Tuesday was hectic in kindergarten...once I got tears dried, tissues passed around, and hugs to those whoe needed it and this was the parents, lol...I could then focus on the wide eyes little ones! I swear they get smaller every year.....we only had one (ahem) "moment" with a mother whose child was sooo scared, clinging to her leg and crying, and she stood there and screamed at him to get over it, and get in there, cause this was her time now, and had things to do..................needless to say, I drew the short straw, and got to deal with her...we were all happy when she left..........I took this sweet little one with me, and made him my helper for the morning...a little attention and love and he was having a blast......(we will be looking into his home life in the next week). I ended up helping out a bit this week on some last minute Kindergarten testing of students who never came in the spring for it, between that and having P/T 2x this week for my wrist, the time flew by!

Ross has started football....so he has practice m-w-f from 5:30 to 7pm, games on Sunday and karate on T/Th..with tournaments one Sat a month.....It is going to be a busy busy fall!!

I have been going over this thread for quick meal ideas...I think my crock pot will become my new best friend.

I hope all of you are well, healthy and happy!!

Kathy- I am so glad that Johnny made out so well, I hope it goes well so he can get back to work next week!! How is Kyle liking school this year?

Nancy- I am so glad that your party went well...I had no doubts my friend!

Gretchen--I am just blown away at the treatment of your precious dd!!! How sad for them to be that way...makes my mil look pretty good...and after this week that is saying a lot!!

Glynis- Thank you for the updates on the mine situation.........I do not want to be around that owner when Karma bites him in the behind!! Those poor poor families, my heart goes out to them all! By this mine closing what are the financial impacts to the area looking like?

Lori-- glad you made out safe and sound on your all nighter in the shop a few days ago!

Stephanie--you are busier then I am...I hope you do find some time just for you!

Lauren--I hope you have a blast at the fair....we were supposed to go to our little country fair last night, but it poured so plans were cancelled, and we got take out from this little unique southern cooking rest, and watched karate kid...my goodness was Ralph Macchio young.........or is it that I am just getting OLD?!!?

Gina--(gosh I hope it was you) glad to hear the chief made out AOK!!

Welcome to those that are new that joined us!! post often....lindsey does a marv job keeping things up to date....we are a chatty crew, but that is half the fun....sort of like standing outside with a cup of coffee, talking to your family friends and neighbors....difference is....I like all my family on here, lol!!

I know I missed a bunch...sorry....all of you are in my thoughts daily....hope everyone is having a good weekend......I am washing 4 karate gi's and football uniforms today.....fun fun fun!

Oh yeah dinner....whole point of it here...sorry about that.....I am making ground turkey with onions, peppers, garlic and tom sauce served over rice!

Wendie - Good to see you back. You surely have been busy my dear, take some time and relax if you can. That poor baby who's Mom told him to get over it and it's her time now - how horrible. Good thing y'all are going to check his home situation out, it sure doesn't sound good.:sad2:

Johnny is going to the Dr. Tuesday AM and will hopefully get release papers to go to work. He's doing great, already feeling MUCH improvement!:yay:

Kyle is loving his senior year so far and he just started his first job yesterday. He's bagging/stocking in a grocery store and he loves it. This particular store has a ton of teens employed, which I think is a good thing. He's working 8 hours today and 7 tomorrow. They can only work 20 hours per week while in school, but at least he'll have some spending money now and maybe I'll actually have a few bucks on me(not having the open palm in my face every day).:rotfl:

Ross is going to be one busy boy this fall. Good luck to him!!

OOPS! Almost forgot, I'm making a chocolate chip cheesecake!! YUM!

WELCOME to Pooh67_68!!!! I look forward to sharing recipes with you.

John (DH) liked the chicken and dumplings. Also had my mom and sister (another picky eater) for dinner. My sister didn't like the biscuit dumplings.

Just popping in - still no cooking being done here, really! I ate two frozen waffles on my way out the door to the mall around 11am and picked up Chipotle on my way home at 4pm. I down the bag of chips already but will dig into my burrito bol in a bit and it will be food for the day.

I am craving blueberry pancakes, which DH doesn't like, so I may fix that for myself tomorrow =)

Hi All!

We're back from the fair...we had a great time...the only thing is...and this will never change, there sure was alot of Whiskey Tango (white trash for my friends that don't remember my lingo ;) )

American Idol is playing there tonight so I had my eye out for Blake all day...not luck though! :)

Nancy, I am glad you had a nice night out last night. I love going out for Chinese. A new place just opened here and I already hinted to Tom. You are right about fair food...I paid $5 for a lemonade but it came in those big sippie cup things and I carried them around all day since it was like my souvenir!!!

We have a new addition in our household...we won a fancy tail gold fish...I can't remember the real breed but she is happy in her new 90 gallon home. We named her Irma, which was my nickname in HS.

Kathy, I am so glad that Johnny is feeling better. That was wonderful news! Wish Kyle much luck in his new job. I can just imagine when Andrew gets old enough to be pal - ing around...cha ching!!!

Pooh 67_89
...welcome!!! Please stick around...:)

Wendie, you and Ross are very busy lately. Wish him luck with his sports. My heart goes out to the child you told us about. That Mom needs a good swift kick! I have no patience for people like that. You are an angel for taking great control of that situation.

As I sit here in my screen porch, the outside cats are enjoying their dinner with the local raccoon (sp)...yup, he's chomping away.

We re going to Big Mama's house tomorrow for her son's bday so I probably will not be on the boards, so have a wonderful Sunday all!

Hi all! we had burgers with mushrooms corn and garlic bead (no bun on the burger).

Talk to you all tomorrow I'm off to the couch to watch a movie with the boy and try not to fall asleep:rolleyes1

Good Luck! ;) I tend to cap nap during movies too!

Hi All!

Wendie- I hope that wicked excuse for a Mom fell over a rock or something! Her poor baby :sad1:. It is a good thing that there are caring people like you to ease these little ones along. Between work and after school football....you are going to be a busy lady!

I like my family here as well. The people here are like a comfy chair and a blanket on a fall evening

Lauren- Lemonade and a fair....what could be better? Have fun at Big Mamas and ask her to come back and post....her meals looked so good the last time she was here.

Aimeedyan- Yumm! BB pancakes :thumbsup2

Kathy- Here's hoping that Johnny is healed enough to return to work :thumbsup2

You gotta love that first job, there is nothing like it when you are in school, working and have a little spending cash :thumbsup2 DD is going to want that recipe for cheesecake. She ordered a cookies and cream cheesecake tonight at dinner and was disappointed. My chocolate madness cake was way better :yay:

We did go for dinner tonight. DD wanted to call her brother at work to rub it in. We were at one of his favorite steakhouses, and dinner was very good. Erica eats like a bird so Daniel will have plenty of dinner when he gets in.

We went for Chinese last night. I went shopping with the girls and Jeff and Buddy took advantage of the quiet to fall asleep on the couch. He had his sandwich and we had some of the best Chinese foods that I have had in years. I want to go out for dinner tonight, so I have my fingers crossed for Glynis and for me as well.

Have a wonderful and safe Holiday weekend!

Well, thanks for the fingers crossed, but no such luck for me. I hope that you got to eat out. We took the kids to the zoo for the day. It was fun, but very, very, very HOT! We did have water bottles that we refilled over and over, but I guess it just wasn't enough. My poor little guy, Jacob, got overheated, and when that happens, he gets migraines. Poor kid! He turned white on the way home, and we had to pull over 3 times so he could upchuck! We made it home, got some aspirin into him, and he literally passed out in my bed. He'll sleep for 8-12 hours and then he'll be fine. I just hate that he gets these migraines! I'm hoping that he'll outgrow them, but I'm not holding my breath. I still get them, and I think I passed this "joy" on to him!

So, to make a long story short, we stopped at Wendy's for dinner. Nuggets and burgers for the girls, chili and Caesar salad for Alan and a Chinese chicken salad for me.

Your welcome, hope you both like it. :)

Even with a big sweet tooth there are things he won't eat, so when I find a recipe that he likes, I like to share it.

Today's dinner is the crock-pot chicken and dumplings that are posted here, hoping he likes it.

Did he like it, Heidi??? It's one of my favorite meals from this list! I love the ease of just tossing stuff in the crockpot!

Glynis- Thank you for the updates on the mine situation.........I do not want to be around that owner when Karma bites him in the behind!! Those poor poor families, my heart goes out to them all! By this mine closing what are the financial impacts to the area looking like?

Well, it's official. The search for the miners is over. MSHA called it off last night. They sent down a robot with a camera, and all they could find was mud, rubble, and no breathable air.

We are still waiting to see what the real impact to the area is. The two mines that Murray closed are not the only mines in the area. So, hopefully, the others will be able to continue. The more we hear about the safety violations from Murray's mines, I really think that MSHA will be policing the other mines more vigorously from now on. We'll see what happens!

Hey Irma!!:lmao: Now I'll never call you anything else.:rotfl2:

Tell Big Mama to come back and join us and have a great time tomorrow.;)

I'll post the cheesecake recipe tomorrow, it's an old recipe I hadn't done in many years. The guys loved it!!!!

My prayers are with the families, what a horrible way for them to lose their loved ones.:sad1:

Hi All!

Lauren- Lemonade and a fair....what could be better? Have fun at Big Mamas and ask her to come back and post....her meals looked so good the last time she was here.

do you believe I had to go back and tell them the lemonade was horrible??? I taste (tasted...whatever the correct grammar) mine, and it was perfect, then A complained and I thought, "What does a 9 year old know?"...it was awful! I then took a sip of Tom's...who was busy talking to a new friend...an older lady that was at the fair by herself....and offered to share her table...and his was horrible too.

They tried to fix ours to no avail..so I just took a bunch of Splenda and called it a day!!!

Just a horrible tragedy. My heart goes out to all the families.

Hey Irma!!:lmao: Now I'll never call you anything else.:rotfl2:

Tell Big Mama to come back and join us and have a great time tomorrow.;)

Gee thanks! Hey, it's gotta be something right? Zilla is long gone. Irma was from a show in the 50's..."My friend Irma"...she was a dumb blonde...:confused3 :) :lmao:

I will tell Mama to come back. She never posted what we had for dinner the night we were there last...King crab legs and filet mignon...YUM!!!!

Mama...COME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight it's Jambasta and garlic bread, per my husband's request.

WFD at your house?

Today we are going to a cookout with family. The little family I have left, we now fit around one table:sad1:. It will be fun though.

I need to get myself moving and do some housework that I don't feel like doing.Hope everyone has a great day

Glynis I saw the story on the news about the miners. How sad for those families:hug:

Morning.

Glynis, yes John did like the chicken and dumplings.

We are having pizza for dinner, but I rather go to Lindsay's instead.

Good morning everyone!

Glynis - How is Jacob feeling today, I hope he's better.

Janice - I know the feeling about the small family, it's just me Johnny & Kyle. But small is OK as long as there's a lot of love going on.:goodvibes

I was inspired by talk on this thread this past week -tonight will be Roast Beef poor boys and Becky's frites! YUMMO!!

Morning, everyone!

Jacob is all better this morning. He woke up early, very hungry, and polished off the leftover cinnamon french toast bake we had yesterday morning.

I'm not sure what we're having for dinner today. It ll depends on whether or not we go to my SIL's house for dinner. If we do, I'll take some oven roasted herbed cherry tomatoes. If we end up staying at home, I'll make the Italian bistro casserole that I wanted to try last week, but never got around to.

Here are some photos from yesterday's antipasto. Laura told me that she likes my photos but she thinks I should tell you whether I liked the taste of the things I make, so from here on out I'll add commentary.

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1081/1297976747_c58f6d4ec5.jpg

Assorted sausages with marinara sauce. There are three kinds, sweet pork italian, hot pork italian, and garlic chicken. That's my all-time favorite marinara sauce!

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1032/1297976079_0e0b77f688.jpg

Proscuitto-wrapped asparagus and fontina bundles. I did not eat this, but everyone else said they were yummy.

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1044/1298844972_e909e2fc76.jpg

Roasted onions with thyme. Very sweet and good.

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1258/1297975643_c23e21bb0a.jpg

Assorted olives and meats. There's proscuitto, pancetta, and dried duck breast.

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1038/1298843914_27eba302f2.jpg

Two types of fritters. The ones on the left are eggplant, and the ones on the right are risotto.

I also made a pan of manicotti with marinara that I forgot to take a picture of, which is too bad because it was the favorite dish!

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1173/1298843384_e75b623b30.jpg

Cannelini bean salad. Laura made this, and it was yummy!

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1383/1297974039_258685bf77.jpg

Artichoke fritatta. I love artichokes but don't cook with them often. They go really well with eggs though--this fritatta was super tasty.

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1070/1297974533_16c36e3763.jpg

Tomato-rubbed bruschetta. Laura made this too, and they were good but incredibly garlicky!!

I took a picture of the kitchen once we were done cooking but Laura said it was too scary and I should not post it! :lmao:

Today is the Caribbean menu. I put the rice bundles together yesterday and the flavor of the rice was terrific, so I have high hopes for today's meal.

Becky - Now you know we want to see the kitchen after all of that awesome food was made.:rotfl2: Seriously the asparagus bundles and the fritters have me drooling. Everything looked amazing and love the commentary!! Tell Laura great job.:thumbsup2

Nancy - I'm not going to post the cheesecake recipe, it's flawed. The center didn't set and the chocolate chips all went down to the bottom.:confused3 I'm not a baker but I think the recipe was to fault this time, so I tore it up and it's in the trash.:rolleyes1

Glynis - Glad to hear Jacob is better and woke up with a huge appetite!!:yay:
