Note: I do NOT have a funky eyebrow over my right eye. It's a birthmark :)

Lindsay, They make some bathtub scrubbers on sticks now! They also have that automatic spray stuff that keeps the bathtub clean all the time. I haven't tried it, but my Mom has & she said it really works!

What a great grandma you have! I think if the tub/shower is all clean now & you use either the automatic sprayer thingy or the ones you spray yourself (with the silicone protection stuff in it) you can probably keep it clean for quite a while. But if you use that bathroom too, don't try it, it is slick slippery stuff! I haven't tried them in a while but I should since we now use a roll-in shower chair for Bob. I was so excited when I had used it & it was working good, but DH was still trying to stand in the shower & there was just no way!

Stephanie---sorry about the accident...glad no one was hurt!!! What a hassle it is to get things like this taken care of!!

Lauren--Love the step by step pics!! That looks yummmmmmy!!

Kathy, Sheryl, and Lori if you are around.....I know we are quite far away, but we have plenty of room, and would love to have any or all of you!!! It is an open invitation....storm or no storm!! (pets welcome too!!) My prayers and thoughts are with you all.............and I am trying my best to think this storm away from all of you!!!
!!

Well you know we'd love to come up & have some lobstahs with you! But as I've said to Steph already, be careful what you offer. Staying in dumpy nasty hotels gets old really fast! If we end up kept away from our homes for a while, we'll actually be looking for something else.

On a good note for anyone who wants to take us NOLA Gals in, we'll all probably be cooking up a storm of fish & shrimp this weekend, so we don't leave it to get totally funky in the freezer while we're gone. Wendie, Ever had any Redfish Courtbouillon?!

My Dear BIL ended up cleaning out my garage fridge last time for me, the one I keep all the seafood in. He was a bit upset about the fish he had caught, filet & packed up for me, only to have to practically where a gasmask to throw it out. So if I leave any of his fish in there he will just kill me!! ;) So along with Lauren's London Broil & I'll be cooking fish some kind of way!!!

Sheryl--The offer is 100% legit...we love a house full of people..You get sick of the hotels, my door is open..have to say I have never even heard of Redfish Courtbouillon, but after looking it up...it sounds mighty tasty!!!

Lindsey--I was going to mention the same things that Sheryl did as well for the cleaning. I think it is Mr. Clean that has the one on the pole, and it is shaped to reach corners etc.

Hey girl, A road trip up the coast might just come much sooner that we were even thinking!!!! ;) I have 2 huge packs of redfish from my DBIL, so I need to cook those up this weekend! I'll freeze & pack away a big container & try to keep frozen in ice chest, (if we have to go) just in case, we actually decide to make that road trip!!! Seriously, it really doesn't make any sense to sit around & just wait for news in some dumpy motel, with tons of other worried depressed guests!! I am determined to not to do that ever again!

Today my husband and I are going to Atlanta with some friends. We are eating at The Cheesecake Factory. I can't wait!

WFD at your house?

ETA: Thanks you guys for all your help. I have a Mr. Clean Magic Reach, is that what you're talking about? I haven't tried it in his bathroom so I don't know if it's long enough. I will look.

Shovan, this is my husband's bathroom, not mine. Mine has a walk-in shower and I use a shower chair, so slippery floors are not a worry in mine :)

Morning ladies. Last night's dinner out was nice. The food was so-so, but it was nice to get out w/o the kiddos. The chicken I had, in theory, should've been wonderful. Chicken breast, stuffed with spinach, fontina, proscuitto, sun dried tomatoes, then grilled. Problem was that the chicken was dry and over salted. It also came with some pasta topped with grape tomatoes and roasted garlic with a balsalmic dressing. But just okay. The presentation was great--wish I would've had my camera. But the company was the important thing anyway!

Not sure WFD tonight. We are headed to church tonight, as we are having DS dedicated in the service. For those not familiar with baby dedications, think pre-baptism. My parents will be there as well as my dsis and bil, so we'll probably go out to eat somewhere.

Lindsay - I don't have anything useful to suggest that Sheryl and Wendie haven't already. However, I wanted to comment that I love the way the bare minerals looked on you. I haven't ever tried it because I felt it wouldn't cover enough, but it looks really good and really natural on you.

Sheryl, Kathy and Lori - I didn't offer any of you a refuge yesterday, but you are certainly welcome in SC. I didn't think of it quite frankly, because we are on the coast too and could be the ones facing the next storm. But you are welcome and I can promise my house is never boring.

ITA! We sat in a Houston motel dump glued to CNN for days, just crying. I will never forget it and don't want to ever go through that again!

For everyone who has offered their homes to us, I can't tell you how much it means to me and my guys, especially because we have NO family. You all are the BEST !!!!:grouphug:

As for dinner, unlike Sheryl I have no seafood in my freezer, I've been trying to use it up. Now I'm craving boiled crabs so I may send DH out to some of the local seafood markets and round up some for me.:yay: or  better yet - Sheryl - do you prepare take-out??:rotfl2:

Steph - sounds like you guys had a nice night out, you're so right the company is what counts, not the food!;)

Lindsay For the in between times you can use the Scrubbing bubbles automatic cleaner, works fairly well. Try one of the long handled mops, they do have shorter ones for the tub. I use the spray scrubbing bubbles and just wipe down the tub. With my problems with my hands I've learned to work smarter. When I'm at Target today I'll look around for more ideas.

I think I cook some chicken or beef kabobs tonight since I can do those inside if the weather doesn't cooperate. I thought about making a fresh fruit cobbler like they have at Artist Point too.

Wendie -- Enjoy the play this afternoon. Break a leg, Ross!

DH and Liam are out fishing this morning. As of an hour ago, they hadn't caught anything, but they were planning to stay for another hour. It sounded like Liam was enjoying himself, so that is the most important thing.

If they don't bring home a fish, we will probably have ribs, macaroni and cheese, sauteed spinach, and cornbread.

Morning all....the "star" of the day is having a huge breakfast right now....eggs, toast, bacon, yougurt, and silver dollar pancakes, lol. What will I do when he is 16??
I will drop him off in 20 min or so for the dress rehersal and the play is at 3 this afternoon.
We will be going out to dinner after at a local bistro with outside tables etc. it should be nice....the inlaws are coming along for the play and dinner...so I will be drinking...I learned that after a few margarita's I like the inlaws more.;)

Laura- Ross said thanks and he is hoping to break 2 legs...(he is such a clutz that there is a chance this wish could always come true, lol)
I am happy to hear how much fun Liam is having with Daddy...these are the memories he will have forever!!

Stephanie--You are so correct that the food doesn't matter if the company is great....glad you had a nice evening out with you dh!!

Lindsey--the make up looked wonderful on you....I loved how your cheekbones looked afterwards!!

Kathy--You might not think you have any family..(blood related)...but girl....you have all of us, and we love you as if you, and your guys were!! I send hugs to you my friend!!

Sheryl---We will put some lobstahs and steamahs and fresh corn right along with it!!! (and wine)

All of you that are in the line for this damn storm....I pray that it fizzles out and is nothing of concern......my heart and prayers are with all of you!!!

Wendie I hope Ross does well (no broken legs) WOW with that breakfast he won't be able to move. :rotfl:

liamandcaili Glad to hear your husband is enjoying time with Liam I hope they catch at least one fish.

Lauren, nice photos!

Lindsay, I will second the scrubbing bubbles, You can just spray them on. Make sure you let them sit for a couple of minutes, then wipe them off with a squegee thing with a long flexible handle. You should be able to do this easily from your chair.

I love bare minerals too! I love the way they look, so much more natural than the liquid foundations. I found out about them from the DIS, one of my favorite discoveries here.

ANYWAY, back to food.

Here is Friday's famer's market haul:

See the mushrooms in the front left? Those are FRESH porcini mushrooms. I was so excited when I found them that I actually started babbling to myself! The farmer thought I was a bit nutso, I think (He's right. ).

Here's dinner. I made DH some lamb chops, and we also had some pasta with truffle butter, and mixed yellow and green harcort verts:

Here's my plate, with mushrooms instead of lamb:

The mushrooms were so amazingly good. DH liked them better than his lamb!

Bonus picture: this morning's breakfast:

And the bacon recipe:

Crispy sugared basil bacon

8 slices bacon
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp dried basil, crumbled fine

Preheat oven to 375.

Place bacon on baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Turn over, sprinkle with sugar and basil, and bake until done to your liking, 5-10 minutes longer.

I talked to Laura a bit ago, and Liam has a bluefish! I am hoping he gets a striper too, we'll see.

Not sure what's for dinner yet, I am still full from breakfast!

Final bonus picture: the drink I invented last night. It's a fizzy tequila drink--1 1/2 ounces of silver tequila, 1 tbsp. grand marnier, juice of one lime, and club soda to taste. The glass is rimmed with orange-ginger sugar.

Great pics as usual Becky! I was drooling over the bacon and then the cocktail just knocked my socks off.:woohoo:

I found some Tilapia in the freezer, going to pan saute it and top with a mango salsa. DH got my boiled crabs, so that's WFD tonight.

I'm also making some peanut butter cookies today, trying to keep my mind off you know what.:rolleyes1

NANCY - Where are you???????

I am going casual tonight. Making burgers (black bean for me), sweet potato fries, and honey-chipotle corn on the cob. I'm tossing around the idea of a cocktail with raspberries, orange juice, tequilia, maybe some lime...we'll see if I get ambitious. DH is allergic to rum and we both hate gin, brandy, etc. so my cocktail ideas are limited.

Hi ladies, just stopping bu to check on my Nola friends. I am getting worried about all of you, this Dean character is too close for comfort. Why don't you all just head up North for a bit. I promise not to send you put into the field :rolleyes1.

Lindsay-the shower advice is good, and I'll add one tidbit. When I used to clean houses I always carried some Scrub Free with me. Now I know that your shower is not the way I used to see, but since you want to spay, this will do the trick. Spray it on the shower and let it work. Any soap scum will melt away and then just run the shower to rinse. You Grandma must be a Doll!

I don't think these guys are Rastas, maybe 7th Day Adventists. I really don't know why if not for religious reason, but none of them will touch it. Most of the guys who help us won't touch pizza either.

I made chicken salad and not I have egg salad going for supper tonight. I am going to make some ham and cheese because I have close to 20 people there and I know they all are not going to like egg salad.

I'll catch up better this evening, and again, my friends, please stay safe :grouphug:

I don't think they are seventh day adventists, since adventists don't work on Saturdays. Plus they would be completely vegetarian, no fish at all. Hmm...

The pizza thing is really weird. If there was a religion that banned pizza eating, I would be running as far away from it as possible! Yum, pizza!

Anyway, I made the drink, and here is a picture. It is a strawberry-lemon-orange margarita, and the rimmming is mojito sugar. Of course, I made it, and now I don't feel like having a sweet drink! Oh well...

That cocktail sure looks good.

I just got back from Costco. I bought a really nice piece of salmon so I'll make my fav salmon tomorrow. Oh Costco had my favorite red bean and rice chips :thumbsup2

I think I'm going to make a ham and turkey sandwich for dinner. It's raining here and I never got around to marinating the meat this morning. Can you believe it I got involved in cleaning the house
