I have all that jewelry - except the earrings. I won't be wearing the necklace for the wedding, though. I will probably wear my grandmother's. I might wear the bracelet though.

The pillow is on ebay Item number: 270165637443 if you want to see.

This is so much fun and getting exciting already - you are going to be STUNNING!!!!!

Now I did find a repeat-worthy recipe in Kathy's Velvet Shrimp! Kicking myself for waiting so long to try that one.

So glad you liked it!:goodvibes

I've got lots of errands to run today. Kyle's senior pics in tux and cap and gown are finally ready! Dinner tonight will be take-out.

Have a great day!

That Morrocan chicken looks GOOD! :)

Lauren, we are going to be at Disney either the first or second weekend in November, I don't have the exact dates yet.

DH and I have the day off today, hooray! Unfortunately, our only plans are to run lots of errands, boo.

Here are pictures from last night's dinner. We started out with some steamed dumplings, there are two kinds, shiitake mushroom and leek (no we did not eat all of these! And no, I did not make them from scratch! I bought them at the Asian market and steamed them at home):

Then we had the shrimp I mentioned earlier, they are skewered on lemongrass, with some fried rice and traditional asian greens--this kind is Chinese broccoli and it was the favorite part of the meal for me:

Not sure wfd yet, because I just woke up! :rotfl:

IWho EVER finds time to clean out a pantry?!? Unless it's the "unidentifiable munchies"- oh, that sounds good-no, that- no, wait, that too...... Ya'll know what I mean!

Unfortunately, I know exactly what you're talking about. And I have the hips to prove it? ;)

Pork Scallops with Tomato Cream

1 pork tenderloin sliced into scallops
flour for dusting
3 Tbsp. EVOO
2 Tbsp. margarine
2 Tbsp. minced green onion
1 Tbsp. dried basil
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 Tbsp. dry vermouth or white wine
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 c. tomato sauce
1 c. heavy cream(I use half & half)

Dust the pork in flour. Heat oil in a skillet and brown the pork on both sides over high heat. Remove the pork and keep warm. Discard the oil but do not wash the pan. Melt the margarine and add the green onions, basil & garlic. Toss to coat and heat through. Add the vermouth/wine and mustard and cook for 1 minute. Add the tomato sauce and cream. Stir well and cook until slightly thickened. Return pork to skillet and cook for 5 minutes. ENJOY!!!!

Kathy, that looks good. On the menu for next week for sure. Thanks for sharing.

I am looking forward to Pics of the F&W festival. We are going next month and I have never been.

Oh Good! Another report on F&W coming up. I can't wait. I've wanted to go for years, but the timing hasn't ever been right for us. So until I can make it there myself, I'll have to live vicariously through all of you.

Here is what I'm making this weekend. I thought of you all when I found it just now. So, it hasn't been tested yet, but here it is

Weight Watchers General Tso’s Chicken

Thanks for sharing this and your wedding party updates. Both look wonderful!

There are not going to be any weddings in my family for a while (unless my oldest meets a nice girl, and he won't let me help :confused3), so I have to live through my DIS friends.

It's a shame he won't let you help. In retrospect, I would have been better off if I had allowed my parents to help with my selection - I certainly wouldn't have married my first husband. Oh well. Live and learn.

LuLu, I have made this recipe. It really is good...not like the fried version though but still very good.

It's funny. The girls will come upstairs when they know Riley is in his crate or very tired. I guess they can sense these things.

Thanks for the info on the recipe. I'm going to try it, hopefully next week. As for the girls, I think it is funny that they seem to know just when to come upstairs. Eventually, they may all play together. A dear friend of mine has a blended household (2 dogs / 4 cats) and I have seen the large dog asleep with a cat lying on top of him.

ETA: Um, you guys? I have no idea where that bouncing jack-o-lantern Mickey head came from. I didn't put him there. Any ideas?

Could it be the Halloween Tag Fairy? Is there such a thing? Like Nancy, I can't really help - it took all my limited computer ability to load it on my signature.

I've got lots of errands to run today. Kyle's senior pics in tux and cap and gown are finally ready! Dinner tonight will be take-out.

:sad1: I know you are excited to be picking them up, but that is certainly one of those events which signal growing up. Good luck, I would likely be crying. But you are talking to the woman who cried when she saw her baby brother dressed for the prom. :sad2:

Tonight we are having the basil scallops I have posted earlier with garlic bread for Kenny and a salad for me.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Senior pics!! How exciting!! Kathy, you need to find a way to scan it so you can share. We want to see too!!

I actually know WTD tonight!! Friday's meals are planned out the Friday before since we have dinner with DS & DIL. Tonight is their turn and we are doing Roast, mashed potatoes and peas.

Morning Y'all,

I've been searching for a cheap but nice hotel in Houston all morning. Bob was given some suite tickets to see the Astros in 2 weeks! We've done this before & loved it, he was given 4 tickets and DD is off that weekend so they'll be joinging us. Now to find the hotel!

Lindsay, You mean I worked on that boucy head most of the morning yesterday & your's just appeared!!! :confused3 No clue how that could have happened!

Becky, Your food looks scrumptious! :thumbsup2 I'll have to go back to yesterday to see what you did with those shrimp again! & the dumplings were a good quick idea to go with it!!!

Kathy, on that Pork scallops, How large did you cut the pieces of pork & do you think it would come out okay with non-fat half & half?

The rain from Humberto really hasn't been too bad! Looks like we could get a bit more today, but doesn't look like much!

Dinner today will be either the Moraccan chicken leftovers or going out.
Have a good day!
Sheryl

Holy crap. I am reaaaaaaaaaaly wanting to know how it got there now.

I have a brand spanking new printer/scanner/fax that I don't have a clue how to use, guess I need to figure it out, huh?:rotfl:

About 1/4 inch. I've done the recipe with chops too, just cook a little longer.

That trip to Houston sounds like fun!!!!

Gretchen - The photography studio was closed due to an emergency so I'll have to wait until Monday to pick them up. When I took Kyle to have the pictures taken and I saw him in the cap & gown - I LOST IT!!!:sad1: It's sooooooo hard to believe my baby boy is a senior.

Becky - Those shrimp looked amazing!:woohoo:

/
Sheryl - I use the fat free half & half all the time, it normally works well, just not quite as thick and rich.

Lulu -- That jewelry is so pretty and the engagement party sounds so fun. Make sure to post pics for us!

I bought salmon for dinner tonight -- thanks, Sheryl! I'm going to grill it, and serve it with a mustard sauce over spinach. I'm also making green beans, and some sort of starch, but I'm not sure on that yet.

Time to go pick the kids up from school. Caili LOVES Kindergarten.

Lulu- I am always coming back to post what I forgot to say. I love the jewelry your have chosen, it is beautiful. Definitely wear your GM's necklace, though. My sister wore my Moms' gold cross on her wedding day and she has it now. I think she is wearing it today....she is getting married today in Mexico (if the paperwork all worked out, this is the sister who had trouble packing boxes :lmao:)

Kathy- I can surely understand how you are feeling. When my baby, who is 28 today, was graduating from HS, I cried for 6 months. Then I cried for another 6 after he graduated. Everyone else was cheering that their kids were going to be getting out and I was hanging on to mine for dear life :rotfl:

Gretchen- I think he would probably be afraid to even let us near the next one. We loved the girl he was seeing (even Marisa liked her, and she usually cannot stand any of the girls), but she was sheltered, raised in a strict Italian home, and very shy. All of her friends started to discuss wedding plans, he freaked and that was it. This lovely girl thought it might have been because of us and he had to tell her we were going to hate him for letting her go. I have whined for over a year now and he finally told me it is not all about me. I told him it should be :thumbsup2.

Sheryl- You are going to have so much fun! I hope that you find a hotel that you like.

Sorry about the salmon cravings!! ;) Glad to hear that Caili is enjoying kindergarten! :goodvibes

Kathy, Thanks for the pork tips, I'm going to fix that sometime next week! You HAVE to figure out your new scanner! We definitely need to see the grad pics of your handsome boy!!! I sooo understand how hard the next year is going to be!! I'm with Nancy on this, verry very tough! I really think I was truly depressed for about a year when we went through that time with my DD!

Sheryl- You are going to have so much fun! I hope that you find a hotel that you like.

Thanks Nancy!

Lulu - beautiful jewelry. I can't wait to hear more. The engagement party sounds like its gonna be wonderful.

Becky - food pics again are yummy. I'm gonna have to go back and find that recipe to try with some shrimp. Just as soon as I re-stock my freezer.

Kathy - sorry you didn't get the pics. And I'm with you on the fax/scanner thing. I haven't learned how to do mine either;)

That's me cheering away!! :cheer2: (see tag line)
But it's not like mine have gone far. DS & DIL live 20 minutes away. DD is at college, 30 minutes away from us, 10 minutes from DS. She's home on the weekends and DS and/or DIL pick up DD at least once or twice a week and bring her to their house for dinner.

Caili LOVES Kindergarten.

That's great!!:yay:

Thanks Nancy!

I've already called my computer geek girlfriend and she's going to come over tonight and ATTEMPT to teach me how to use it. She only asks that I have a bottle of wine on hand for us to enjoy as her payment.;)

Jeez, This is my first time on today and I am totally lost!!! Hopefully I can catch up later...

We are going to try a new chinese restaurant tonight and no cooking tomorrow either...we are going to Tom's company outing...Its usually a blast...they rent out an amusement park (Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom).

Have a great weekend all!

I had plans to make a mexican casserole but now I want to go out for dinner or at least take out.

I need to get busy tonight on the computer and also do some laundry. Tonight they are calling for a freeze warning. I still have things growing outside :confused3 I'm not ready for fall yet. Why don't I get a vote?

Kathy Nancy Even though Alex is still young I'm not enjoying this growing up stuff. When he was 3 he promised he would stay small he is almost 5' 6" now :rolleyes1 He will be 13 in October the week after we get back.

Gotta love a friend who will work for wine! Wait a minute. I think I fall into that category too. ;) However, I am barely computer literate. And way too many miles away.

Really?!? It's still in the high 80's here and after all the rain we've had, the humidity will kill you. Send some of that cold air down this way. We'd love to have it.

I would be willing to work for wine :)

Caili tells me she is going to live with me FOREVER. Liam says he'll live next door...as you know he wants to get married so he can have someone clean the house for him :headache: . I know all this will change. I can't imagine 13 right now, and Kathy, I would be having a tough time with the senior pictures too. I've only just survived putting my baby on the Kindergarten bus.

Sorry about the salmon cravings!! ;) Glad to hear that Caili is enjoying kindergarten! :goodvibes

The salmon was really good, so I am glad you inspired me to go find some. I ended up serving it with a mustard/mayonnaise/onion/worcestershire sauce, and I made the curried sweet potatoes as a side. It wasn't the best pairing, but everything tasted good.

As for Kindergarten, it makes it so much easier for me that Caili is excited to go every day. However, today she told me that skating is a lot more fun than school. I really didn't know what to say to that.

Janice, enjoy every minute of it, when he turns 15 things really start to change.:rolleyes1

But we'd have fun between us two being computer dummies and the wine consumption.:lmao:

I think we'd all work for wine!:rotfl: Laura - treasure each and every day while they're young, when they become teens it becomes a whole new ballgame.:sad2: As for Caili enjoying her skating more than school - Kyle has always enjoyed baseball more than school.;)
