I think Stephanie was just there and enjoyed it...it's a Irish bar...if the food is not good the drinks surely will be!!! :lmao:

Yep, it was really good. We sat out on the patio, no need for ressies, and had some great Irish beer (they have a good selection on tap, as well as lots of specialty irish cocktails). The food was really good too--but it's all traditional Irish pub fare, so if that doesn't appeal to you, there weren't really any alternatives. DH had a portobella "burger", which I guess was the only non-traditional thing there. I had a great piece of pork tenderloin--and the bangers (sausages) and mash looked great too. The inside of the restaurant is really cool to look at. Our waiter gave us the whole history of the bar and the stand where the Irish dancer performs (but forgive me, I had 2 beers by this time so the details are sketchy!) I would definitely go back--if not for the food, definitely to have some drinks on the patio. We trying Rose and Crown in January to mix it up a bit.

Tonight I ended up making the Shrimp Fried Rice that was posted a few days back--sorry I don't remember who posted it. Was really yummy, and used up some shrimp that needed cooking!

Anyone else upset about the menu change at Wolfgang Puck's? They took the crabcake appetizer off, the steak entree and the chocolate fondue dessert!!! I am going to cancel but am having a hard time deciding what to replace it with. We need a place at DTD because it's our Cirque Du Soleil night. For some reason the menu at Raglan Road doesn't appeal to me at all, I'm thinking Rainforest Cafe. Anyone care to tell my why Raglan Road is so appealing, please, I'm in need of my buddies help.:flower3:

Kathy - we went to RR when we were there last July. The food was really, really good. But I've noticed that the menu has changed a lot so I don't know what it may be like now. My DH said to tell you the entertainment was pretty good. A dancer gets up on one of the tables and does that irish clog type dancing.

Well Hello there! Please post some of the meals you have and maybe share some recipes. :thumbsup2

Yea - I really need to start doing that;) Problem is we don't usually know what we are having until its time to eat!
Tonight we had chicken and pasta with green beans. Certainly nothing like the food porn I find on this board:lmao:

No recipe really. I just saute some onion and garlic (smoked sausage or tasso if I have it on hand) in olive oil. Throw in the chopped cabbage and creole seasoning and let it cook down slowly. My Mom used to throw in some potatoes too!

Yum!!! I will try this one!

I feel sorry for you since I am in the same boat. Summer is a hard time to lose weight with all the BBQs and yummy drinks!!!!

And then comes Fall and the start of the holiday season. Is there ever a really good time to lose weight? Not for me!

Tonight is my husband's monthly Geek meeting so I am on my own tonight (was rescheduled last week). I picked up some bowtie pasta, some black olives, and some sauce. So I will be having Throw-together Pasta for dinner tonight. Quick and easy!

WFD at your house?

I need to get something in gear, my vac is coming up and I haven't lost much weight. I think I may try not reading this thread for a while, so I can be strong and resist the yummy dinners you all are having while I'm becoming a bunny eating lettuce and carrots. Feel sorry for me yet?:rotfl2:

I off to find something lowcal for dinner.

I do because I have failed miserably this summer. For some reason if I don't cook I still find time to make something for dessert :confused3

Are you talking about the Thanksgiving meal? DH and his family did that one year, but I never have.

I can't believe everyone knows the secret except me! I'm going to have to get the kids involved in infiltration.

Nancy, your dinner sounded so yummy! I love planked salmon.

I think so. We went quite a few years go and Gail's kids were still fairly young. I remember taking home the recipes and making the "cheesecake" that we had for our Thanksgiving. The kids had wolfed it down while we were there but would not touch it when I made it. Sheesh!

Now don't get those kids involved in espionage! It won't work I have heard that your sister has teeth and will use them!

Ladies, if I miss anyone, please forgive me...I can't catch up! I send all of you hugs...

I am glad Alexis had a good day at school. I keep telling myself that I will do a better job at cleaning when Andrew goes back!!!

I feel sorry for you since I am in the same boat. Summer is a hard time to lose weight with all the BBQs and yummy drinks!!!!

Hi Lauren! I always miss someone. This is one fun thread but it moves fast some days. Chatty women maybe :rolleyes1

See, I wanted to tell Sheryl that I know how hard it is to send a little one off to school. When I sent mine off I went to breakfast and celebrated. Now it is different :sad1:. Good to hear that Alexis had a good day though, Kady goes on Wednesday and not one of the girls she chums with are in her class.

Kathy - we went to RR when we were there last July. The food was really, really good. But I've noticed that the menu has changed a lot so I don't know what it may be like now. My DH said to tell you the entertainment was pretty good. A dancer gets up on one of the tables and does that irish clog type dancing.

Kathy- I never ate at RR but if there are cloggers you can't go wrong! It is fun from a distance, but way more fun if the clogger is nearby.....the feet fly!

Yea - I really need to start doing that;) Problem is we don't usually know what we are having until its time to eat!
Tonight we had chicken and pasta with green beans. Certainly nothing like the food porn I find on this board:lmao:

I almost never know what to cook. We have some really good planners on this thread and they will share how their meal planning works, but I am not one of them. I post after we eat. We have the best food porn here don't we? Even my pretty dishes don't look like some of the meals posted her :rotfl2:

And then comes Fall and the start of the holiday season. Is there ever a really good time to lose weight? Not for me!

Are you kidding? Apple cake.....pumpkin pie.....apple cobbler....warm lemon cake....

Good Morning All!

We are having grilled pork chops, teriyake (sp) noodles and some type of vegetable.

Have a great day...its another very soggy one in Jersey!!!:sad1:

Morning all. Tonight will probably be something with pork chops--we'll see what I come up with later.

My heart goes out to all those that were/are in the path of Dean. Sure looks like a monster of a storm. Glad that the gulf coast dodged this one!

We are picking up our new car tonight (new to us anyway) so we will be having the ever so exciting.... leftovers! I have some marinated chicken in the refrigerator.... I will probably make a salad and throw the chicken on top of it. DS won't eat salad though..... he can just have chicken and a biscuit I guess.

There's a fun "healthy eating" thread on the budget board.... I've been over there some.... found out a few things!

Anyone got an eggplant recipe?? I'm wanting to try some new things....

Good morning everyone. Not too good for me, I was up all night with a toothache. Going to the dentist in a little while.:scared1:

Thanks for all of the input on Raglan Road, I'm going to let the guys take a look at the menu and see what they think.

Mermaid - Laura posted a recipe for Baked Eggplant Sticks and they are very good.:thumbsup2

Not sure about dinner tonight, depends on what happens at the dentist.:sad2:

Good morning, everyone! It's a glorious day here in Alpine! The sun is shining, the birds are singing and............my 2 oldest are going back to school in just 30 minutes!!!

Can you tell I'm excited? Actually, so are they. We got to meet their teachers last night, and both kids are thrilled with their teachers. I think it's going to be a good year. Jacob has a couple of good friends in his class, but Katie doesn't have any of her "really good" friends. I'm pleased with that, as she turns into a real chatterbox if she's surrounded by an "adoring audience."

The twins will start kindergarten next Tuesday. They are totally bummed that they don't get to go to school today. Oh well, I'll take them school shopping today, and that will have to do.

I made whole wheat waffles for breakfast this morning, and in just a few minutes we'll leave to have our neighborhood breakfast at the bus stop. Bagels, juice, muffins, donuts, etc.

Dinner tonight will be Katie's favorite dish: smothered pork chops. We'll have green beans on the side, and ice cream sundaes for dessert. Gotta get to the store for some healthy after school snacks. I need celery and baby carrots. I'm trying to encourage healthy eating in my pre-teen at least!

Wow we were quite a chatty bunch since I checked in last. I hope, like Lauren, I don't miss anyone. If I do, I'm sorry.

I'm back. DS11 started middle school today and I will have my days free again, until I find a part-time job.

Glad to have to back. Our schools start tomorrow and while I'm looking forward to the kids having the routine again, I'm not enjoying the last minute rush we seem to have every year no matter how hard I plan.

Gretchen, Sorry about your fridge & the flounder. Glad you have a new one!

Thanks. I really was more upset about the fish than I was the fridge. Kenny, in a wonderful example of "hope springs eternal", let the repairman try 4 different times to fix it. The final straw was when it went out overnight and ruined the flounder. I told him I was going to buy a new one and asked if he wanted to come with me. Being a smart man, he knew not to argue the point and went with me to the store. ;)

I promised the kids waffles for tomorrow, so that's a for sure. I won't have to make much, though, because we have our annual neighborhood get together at the bus stop in the morning. Each year on the first day of school, everyone, kids, parents, etc., gathers at the bus stop. It's a way for first timers, like my twins, to be able to find the bus stop, get acquainted with the other kids, and just get the school year off to a good start. We set up tables, and serve the kids muffins, bagels and cream cheese, fruit, juice and yogurt. It's turned into a really neat thing for all the kids. We have a really great neighborhood, and this really helps the little kids feel a part of things.

What a really cool tradition! It sounds like you live in a great place to raise a family.

Hi ya'll. I'm back home. Sent Rick packing back to Detroit this morning and now I should be working, but I just don't feel like it. Think I'm going to walk up to the casino and get my seared ahi tuna salad and go run some errands.

Take it easy and go at whatever pace you feel like. Like Nancy said, it will take some time to get back to normal, whatever that really is. Please remember to take care of yourself.

No recipe really. I just saute some onion and garlic (smoked sausage or tasso if I have it on hand) in olive oil. Throw in the chopped cabbage and creole seasoning and let it cook down slowly. My Mom used to throw in some potatoes too!

Kathy that sounds really good. I think I'm going to try it. Do you cover the saute pan after you add the cabbage?

I can't believe everyone knows the secret except me! I'm going to have to get the kids involved in infiltration.

:lmao: :lmao: Be careful teaching the kids to be sneaky. When they get older, they'll use it against you. :rotfl:

We are planning a trip to RR this November. I'm glad to hear it was good. I think my Dad will really love the entertainment and the scotch flight. But it is nice to hear the food is good too.

Yea - I really need to start doing that;) Problem is we don't usually know what we are having until its time to eat!

Don't let that stop you. My kids prefer "plain food", so I never contribute to the food porn, but this is certainly a fun group and I have gotten lots of fab recipes here.

And then comes Fall and the start of the holiday season. Is there ever a really good time to lose weight? Not for me!

Not for me either. I can always find an excuse to eat.

Congrats on the new car!

Nancy are you sure we aren't related? ;)

Good morning everyone. Not too good for me, I was up all night with a toothache. Going to the dentist in a little while.:scared1:
Not sure about dinner tonight, depends on what happens at the dentist.:sad2:

I hope you get some relief. Let us know how it went.

Dinner tonight is Shepard's Pie by request of our youngest. Last night's pizza was ok, but I wasn't wild about the crust. It was my first attempt at homemade pizza, so next time I'll try something different.

Have a great day everyone!

Kathy that sounds really good. I think I'm going to try it. Do you cover the saute pan after you add the cabbage?
Actually I cook it in a dutch oven, covered, until tender and yummy! Tip - If you caramelize the onions the cabbage comes out sweeter.:thumbsup2

Hope you feel better soon

There's a fun "healthy eating" thread on the budget board.... I've been over there some.... found out a few things!

I added some recipes to my file from that board. There are a few threads going around over there.

Good morning, everyone! It's a glorious day here in Alpine! The sun is shining, the birds are singing and............my 2 oldest are going back to school in just 30 minutes!!!

:yay::yay:

The final straw was when it went out overnight and ruined the flounder. I told him I was going to buy a new one and asked if he wanted to come with me. Being a smart man, he knew not to argue the point and went with me to the store. ;)

Nancy are you sure we aren't related? ;)

A smart man is a man who knows when to say when...or in this case.....Yes Dear.

I think we are sisters at heart, God knows on this thread we all have one or two important things in common....close enough to related for me :thumbsup2

Actually I cook it in a dutch oven, covered, until tender and yummy! Tip - If you caramelize the onions the cabbage comes out sweeter.:thumbsup2

Kathy- dutch oven cooking was the way my Mom always cooked a lot of our special meals.

I looked quick on your signature and thought I saw James Garner sitting next to you! Now I will confess I had a crush on him when I was a bit younger :cloud9:.

Last night I got to A&P at the most perfect time. The meat guy had just put markdown stickers out- so I stocked up!

And although it's hotter than Hades here, I've been craving chili- so that's what I made. And having leftovers of that for dinner again tonight.

I love the RR talk. We got there everytime we go to WDW and I've never gotten food there. We sit outside on the front patio bar and get fish n chips from the CS place next door.:lmao: Guess I should venture in sometime!

Wow, a lot of schools start early on this thread. Liam doesn't go back until the Tuesday after Labor Day and Kindergarten for Caili doesn't start until two days after that. I think Liam is ready for summer to be over, though.

Kathy -- I hope your tooth feels better.

We're having pizza tonight.

Oh, and don't worry everyone. I won't spoil Becky's surprise.
