Good morning ladies!

Glynis - so glad your pain is easing up a bit.

Jenny - Ed is doing so well, I'm so happy for your family!

Hersey - thanks for the tilapia recipe, I'm definitely going to try it.

Lauren - Hope you have a great day with DS on the class trip, I used to love doing those field trips!

Tonight I'm making Chicken Parm w/ spaghetti, lemon/parm broccolli and a salad.

Have a great day everyone!

tonight will most likely be pasta and meat sauce; some garlic toast too. Unless something at the store calls to me today. Have a great Hump Day everyone!

Morning Y'all,

Everyone already has such great meals planned for this evening!

DH has several free lunches lined up this week, so I still have the pork loin & chicken left over. So, we'll probably have leftovers.

Hersey, that sounds great! I love those panko bread crumbs on fish. I'll have to try adding the sun dried tomatoes next time I do fish, that's one I haven't tried yet. Thanks!

Have a good day!

Well, I ended up not doing the taco pizza last night, as my body decided to hit me while I was down. A pinched nerve was not enough...no, my body decided to try to pass a kidney stone last night. OUCH! I'm doing much better this morning, as I think, although it's not completely gone, it's at least moved to a better position. Now I just feel bruised!

DH made dinner last night since I was in no condition to cook! He made hamburger patties and rice for the kids.

Tonight will be Barbecue Jack Chicken. Although I'm having to be creative. The recipe calls for Pepper Jack cheese, which my children will not eat, so I'm using regular Colby/Jack cheese for them, and Pepper Jack cheese for DH and me! I get to grill this chicken, so no heating up the kitchen for me! We'll have a salad and some kind of noodle dish on the side. Ice cream sundaes for dessert!

Have a great day, everyone!

Glynis ~ Glad you're feeling a little better today.

Wendie ~ I'm glad you liked the Aloha Pizza. I'll have to try making it sometime. DS wasn't too thrilled about the red bell pepper so I'll leave that off part of it.

Last night I threw together (lite) smoked sausage, onions, potatoes, bacon and saurkraut for dinner. It turned out to be very good.

Tonight I'm making Portuguese grilled chicken thighs, tater tots, and baby peas. We all love this chicken and it's so easy to do. It always amazes me how flavorful it turns out even though you only need to marinate it for 30 minutes.

 for you. After watching DS suffer through that, I can almost feel your pain. Glad you're much better today.

Hello, all! Just realized I did not post yesterday. Last night we had grilled chicken breasts marinated in soy sauce and sesame oil with red pepper flakes (well, I did, DH just had plain grilled chicken breasts with barbecue sauce for dipping) with rice and sauteed bok choy, also with sesame oil, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes. For tonight, hamburgers and maybe homemade oven baked french fries. If not that, potato chips. Depends on how I feel when I get home.

Have a great day, everyone!

:yay: :yay: Share please!!!

This recipe came from a Good Housekeeping grilling cookbook. What makes it Portuguese is actually what I leave out, but I call it Portuguese Grilled Chicken anyway. lol I never have (or remember to buy) the red onion, chorizo, or Kalamata olives when I make it. Here's the original recipe for Portuguese Mixed Grill http://magazines.ivillage.com/goodhousekeeping/recipefinder/recipe/print/0,,392231,00.html

This is just the recipe for the chicken.

1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper (I use a little less)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano leaves (I use 1 tsp. dried oregano)
8 large chicken thighs (skin-on or skinless, it's good both ways)

In a large zip top plastic bag, combine vinegar, salt, pepper, olive oil, and oregano; add chicken thighs, tossing to coat. Refrigerate 30 minutes to marinate. Grill about 20-25 minutes, until juices run clear.

Glynis, sorry to hear you are not feeling well... .

Kathy, the trip was fun but a little messy for 3rd graders. We went to a local park...the kids had to fill out forms for the environment, go into the river and measure the depth, see how fast the current was going and look for living things. Needless to say Andrew and several other kids went all the way in ... fun fun!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi All!

Jenny- I'm so glad to hear that Ed is up and around and walking!

Glynis- I hope that you are really on the mend! My SIL almost passed out for the pain when he had one.

I don't know what I am fixing for dinner yet. I have chicken thighs out, but the gas grill is not filled yet so no grilling. I am not going to start anything until I finish all of my washing and ironing because though because I am sick of being behind on it.

Ironing? What's that? Seriously, I figure the damage I would do with an iron would make the clothes look much worse than the wrinkles.

Speaking of housework, since I know all of you like to cook. What do you use to clean your stove top? Anyone found any product that works well on grease?

I feel like I made a mistake when we redid our kitchen about 5/6 years back. I have an Advantium Microwave Oven with the vent above the stovetop. So everything gets icky when I cook on the stove. I'm not very happy with the cooktop I bought either & am thinking of replacing it. It's a Magic Chef Gas 5 burner which works great, but it hard to clean & the finish is actually coming off. Which really ticks me off considering that ancient Harvest Gold color one still looked great when we pulled it out!

Does anyone have a Stainless Steel Cooktop & is it easy or difficult to clean?

Glynis, I feel your pain. Back & neck pain anyway, I have lots of trouble with that. I have not had to deal with kidney stones, that sounds awful. Hope you feel better real soon!

You sound like me! The last time I ironed, the iron tipped and burned the couch!!!! :rolleyes1 I am horrible at ironing...if it wasn't the couch it would have been my hand! I have scars all over. My Mom always said it was becauce I am left handed...who knows...but I hate ironing!!! I only iron when its absolutely necessary. I do know people that love it though. :confused3

Speaking of housework, since I know all of you like

I have a Ceran flat cooktop. I had to get used to electric...I grew up using gas. I usually use the cleaner specially made for that type of stove.

I did, however, find a new cleaner that I love...it is called Touch of Purple...it cleans a heck of alot of stuff...works wonders on my engagement ring. Here is the website:

http://www.purplecleaner.com/cart/Scripts/prodView.asp?idProduct=4

OK, but now that I see the price on the website, maybe its not worth it!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: When I bought it at a home show, the combo price was half that!!! :)

ETA: There are times when something boils over on the stove and gets baked on and I can't get it off...that is when I call DF and he gets out the razor blade...can you tell I am accident prone??? :) Any stupid thing that can happen, will happen to me.

Thanks, sounds great & EASY!!

Ironing? What's that? Seriously, I figure the damage I would do with an iron would make the clothes looks much worse than the wrinkles.

I have to join the "who me, iron?" club.:lmao: DH always makes a comment about how much I use my iron, which is still in the box unopened.

Firsy we are going to take a walk..We are aiming for about a mile today..Then I will order Chinese. I'm thinking Lo Mein, Teriyaki Chicken, Orange Chicken and spare ribs

Lauren, I guess I'll have to wait for a home show! For the price of that on the website, it would have to clean the stove all by:laughing: itself!

I only iron when absolutely neccessary! I sure do go through a lot of that Downy Wrinkle Releaser though!;)

Thanks, everyone, for your well-wishes! I have to say that kidney stones is not a pain I would wish on my worst enemy! Luckily, I stockpile heavy meds (from surgery, childbirth, etc.), so I have an arsenal! Unfortunately, there always comes a point where it just doesn't matter if you have pain meds or not, you just have to scream your way through it!

I'm feeling quite good right now, so I think I'll go make a batch of cookies for the kids after school treat!

Sandy-We hate red bell pepper in our house so I left that out, but it was delish!!
I will try the chicken recipe next week, I am always looking for different things to do with the boneless skinless breast I stockpile!!

Glynis- Boy what a week you are having! I hope that things clear up real quick for you!!

As for the ironing bit well I am the odd one I love to iron :confused3 - I pick out the clothes for dh, ds and myself the day before and then in the evening I iron everything.

Glynis, sorry about the kidney stone. I have heard they are horrific, but I'm glad you are doing better today.

Lindsay, your dinner sounds wonderful. Hamburger steaks with sauteed onions is one of my favorites.

Tonight's dinner is a Stouffer's lasagna with garlic bread.

I'll know for sure tomorrow, but it looks like DSil is going with us on Friday!
