Dinner tonight will be greek chicken and potatoes. My husband is bringing home some Paczki for dessert :yay:, in honor of Paczki Day (Fat Tuesday) tomorrow.

I have been lurking on this fabulous thread for a while (at least I don't think I've posted here:rotfl2: ). Anyway, tonight's creation made me want to tell you guys about it.

I've been trying to make lasagna for 3 days now. The first day I went shopping at WalMart for all the ingredients. We don't eat white flour, and WallyWorld didn't have any whole wheat pasta, so I didn't make it that night.

The second day (yesterday), I got the hamburger meat out and started frying it mid-afternoon, while I put a big pot of water on to boil for the pasta. It wasn't until the meat was brown and the water was boiling that I remembered I didn't have any lasgana noodles. We had leftovers that night.

Today I finally got to the other grocery store that I know carries WW lasagna noodles, only to find that they no longer carry them! Aaaaargh!!! I ended up buying some whole wheat penne instead, which I used to make my new creation. I layered the penne just like you would lasagna, with sauce, noodles, meat, cheese mixture, sauce, noodles, meat, cheese mixture...

I have decided to call my creation Lapegna. :thumbsup2 I will let you know tomorrow how it turns out. :rotfl2:

Glynis- You kill me! Your kids must think that you are the best! I have got to try the krispy ribbon things for my DGD. She loves peanut butter and chocolate.

Sometimes I kill me, too! Since my gastric bypass surgery, I can't eat most of what I cook, but I love to be in the kitchen. I like to try out new recipes, and my DH and kids are mostly willing to be my guinea pigs. For some reason, I get great fulfillment out of watching them enjoy my food. I'll eat a few bites, but it's nice to cook for people who can actually eat! I'll tell you this, too, I've yet to find a dessert that my kids will say "no" to.

Sounds yummy! Our walmart didn't have WW noodles for a long time, but now they have a HUGE selection of WW and Whole Grain noodles. I love cooking with the WW noodles, as I think they give more flavor to a meal! I can't wait to hear how your Lapegna turns out (love the name, by the way!)

I try to find this thread every day to just see what others are having, and to give me ideas for days I am stuck. I love to cook and be in the kitchen making up new recipes. I fig what the heck I will post tonights meal! Hope it is ok I join in?!!?
We had chicken parm bites( I made it up as I went along) with egg noodles and fresh green beans. I love having green beans when we are having a tomato dish.
Dh gave it a 9, and ds a 9 as well though said if he didn't have such a wicked cold it would have been a 10, lol.

Well, turns out I have strep! Ick! But, kathy, yes, I"m medicated now and I'm functioning fairly well. Hope to be back to somewhat normal tomorrow. Oh, and dinner tonight was grilled cheese. Hey, gotta love that DH took off early to come home and cook dinner!:goodvibes

Crab Imperial Twins--crab imperial on an English muffin topped with cheddar cheese and put under the broiler, and sauteed asparagus.....

Tonight we are having black bean soup and cornbread, per my husband's request :)

I am anxious to get to work today to see how my friend's shower turned out!!

WFD at your house?

We are having the chicken francese, rice pilaf and broccoli that we didn't have yesterday...we opted for pizza.

Stephanie, feel better!

I feel much better this morning--it's amazing what a day on antibiotics will do for you--I'm going to try the greek beef stew tonight! Yummo!

Tonight it is Alton Brown's refrigerator pie. Like quiche but yummy and never fails. I am putting in asparagus, tomatoes, swiss and parm.

THE HAT - Welcome!!!!!! I'm sure you will enjoy our thread. You'll get plenty of ideas and we'll be able to get some recipes from you as well.:goodvibes

Stephanie - I'm glad you're feeling better today!:)

It's Mardi Gras here today, DH has to work, DS will be at parades with his GF's family and I will be DISing and cooking. I've got crock-pot Osso Bucco going and will fix pasta with pesto sauce and walnut roasted cauliflower. My guys should be hungry when they get in this evening!;)

I have in the crockpot a recipe that I found either on this thread or on the Budget Board - I did not print out the title - it is some type of sweet/sour chicken

Good morning everyone! I don't think I have strep like Stephanie, but I am having the worst sinus pain (maybe an infection?) and if I don't feel better, the family is getting take-out. I'm taking some Tylenol Sinus now, so I guess we'll see.

I'm kind of new here myself, but welcome to the other newbies like me! I love the new ideas and recipes of others.

Speaking of new ideas...

I need a new chicken marinade recipe. I love marinated grilled chicken breast, but Italian salad dressing is getting a little boring. Any ideas?

The Lapegna was fabulous! We had it again today for lunch, and I think there's still a couple more meals worth of it, so it's a good thing we liked it!:rotfl2:

My WalMart has a pretty good selection of WW pastas, too, just not lasagna.:confused3

I mix teriyaki sauce, pineapple juice, olive oil and minced garlic together. It makes a great marinade.
