I've gotta say, that pot roast was outstanding. I wasn't sure about all those different seasoning packets but it is just perfect. Very yummy and thanks for sharing it!

I agree. In fact someone posted that it's also good with a pork roast, which I'm going to try Sunday!

Tonight we are having leftover chicken provencal soup and breadsticks. I happened to find a Pillsbury low-fat breadstick and gave them a try. I sprayed them butter, add a little garlic salt, and some fresh grated parmigiano reggiano cheese. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

WFD at your house?

Good morning! DH has to work this evening and will pick up something for dinner at a restaurant near where he works. It will just be he and I, DS is going to a "sweet sixteen" party!

Tonight will either be homemade pizza or out for pizza!

Morning all! Where were the rest of my Dinner folks yesterday?? :confused3

Anyway, we are going to the Olive Garden today and to do a little shopping so I am off tonight :)

We went out for dinner last night and I am not cooking this weekend. :cool1:

Today we are going to go into Philadelphia for the Mummers parade and have dinner out. Tommorrow my husband is going to the Eagles playoff game - so no cooking for me.

Next week back on planning and cooking ahead. This week was leftovers and not very inspiring.

We had meatloaf yesterday and there is some left but will probably get eaten at lunch time. I'm trying to use up what's in the freezer, so I'll have to go dig around in there and see what looks like it needs to go first.:rotfl2:

Last night was "whatever you can fix yourself"--though my youngest DS' had pizza.

THIS EVENING? I am not sure what we are doing; I may make homemade chicken & stars soup. Too bad we don't have enough $$ to go to Olive Garden or get Chinese Take-Out....

I haven't been posting because I have been on strike in the kitchen the past few nights. I don't know, I think all of the holiday cooking wore me out. Tonight though, I am back in the saddle and making a nice roasted chicken stuffed with lemons and garlic and thyme, mashed potatoes, gravy, broccoli, and carrots with cumin.

Tomorrow is going to be crazy! I am hosting a double decker football party. First shift for the Patriots and second shift for those who love the Eagles! I have not figured out all of the Pats foods yet: so far all I have is the lucky guacamole and hot wings, but for the Eagles game I am definitely making mini cheese steaks. I'll post the full menu tomorrow.

I am finally getting around to trying some more of the recipes I've seen raved about here so tonight is: Glynis' Pot Roast!

I'm only doing one roast so I hope it turns out. I don't have a big enough crock pot to do two. I need need neeeed to get a newer big one!

Me too. I'd like a stainless steel oval shaped one so I don't mind leaving it out on the counter. My current one is large, but round (so some meat doesn't fit as well) and is white with pink trim :rotfl:

The pot roast was a hit at our house too. As a matter of fact, the seasoning packets were added as staples in my pantry so I'd have everything on hand when I had the craving for it. I've only topped mine with baby carrots and mushrooms, but I may add onion next time. I just can't chop them too finely or DS won't eat it.

I am looking for a few good recipes, please:

Red Beans and Rice
White Beans
Black eyed Peas
Any other bean recipes anyone wants to share.

I'm not a big bean eater, but I'm trying to incorporate them because the rest of the family likes them.

I'm not sure what's for dinner tonight.

Here's an easy recipe for some really good biscuits to go with these all these yummy-sounding recipes:

Sunday School Biscuits

2 sticks of margerine (at room temperature)
1 cup sour cream (at room temperature)
2 cups self-rising flour

Mix margerine and sour cream until combined, then sift in flour. Put about 1/4 cup of batter into each cup of a muffin tin. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes.

This recipe makes about a dozen, so just half the ingredients if you don't need that many. Oh, and don't forget to wave your magic wand over them to remove all fat and calories, because they do have alot.

I cook the red and white beans ALL the time, but I don't use a recipe. When I cook them Monday I'll make a note of everything and approximate measurements and post it for you then, is that OK?

Tonight we're having rack of lamb with a cabernet sauce, au gratin potatoes and roasted asparagus.

Since I got my stand mixer for Christmas, I'm going to try and start baking more. I'm planning on trying a recipe called cheese cake squares today. Looks like the base(crust) is a cake mix layer topped with a cheesecake type layer. We'll see how it comes out!

Today is DH and my 6 year anniversary!!:cool1::cloud9:  Unfortunately, after spending all the $$$ on Christmas and our upcoming trip to WDW, we are a little strapped in the cash-ola! So my sis is watching the kids and we probably will get some yummy take out and rent a movie--hey, at least it will be a kid free house for a few hours!:thumbsup2

Happy Anniversary to you and your DH!!! I hope you both enjoy your evening.....

Nucpharm, Happy Anniversary!

To all of you watching the Eagles tomorrow...think of me...the Giant fan!!! I cannot believe they are in the playoffs...they hadsom horrible games this year...

Well, my diiners were all screwed up this week. I had chix marinating for Thurs and then DFI took us ut for pizza...no complaints here...so I planned to make the chix yesterday but I woke feeling yucky. I guess I had a touch of the stomach bug the guys had at the beg of the week....so

I cooked the chix last night - I didn't want it to go bad and we will have that today...hopefully...Iam laying in bed now...I hurt my back...so I just doctored up...

Yadda Yadda Yadda!

Happy Anniversary!

We're having Italian Crockpot Chicken tonight.

Happy Anniversary, nucpharm29!

OK, I am not making anything I said I was going to make. It is too darned hot for roast chicken! So, instead I am grilling some cedar plank salmon and also grilling shrimp that I am going to serve with a garlic aioli dipping sauce Big tossed salad and crusty bread for sides. Plus some wine. I really want a nice glass of wine after the way I spent my morning. I went to see my niece compete in her very first ice skating competition. Did you know that at ice competitions every single person in an age group skates to the same song? And that for one group, the song was Achy Breaky Heart? So, I got to hear Achy Breaky Heart about 27 times in a row. Sigh.

Lauren - I hope you start feeling better, especially for the game! Check your PMs.
