*The Official VILLAS AT DISNEY'S GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT & SPA Owners & Lovers Group* - LOBBY REFURB BEGAN 4/14!

Besides the actual room itself are there any advantages to the resort vs. the deluxe? I know deluxe seems to be preferred for it's amenities but any case for the resort studio?
You get 2 queen beds in a Resort Studio, just like you would a hotel room. In a Deluxe Studio, you get one queen bed, a pull down Murphy bed and a small pull down bed under the tv. Better bathroom mirror in Resort Studio. Central location. Just depends on your personal preferences. If you look on Page 1, you will see virtual walk throughs. Hope that helps a bit.

Resort studios are basically a cash hotel room so if you like two dedicated queen beds that is a plus. They're brand new hard goods including bathroom tile whereas deluxe studios just got the soft goods facelift. Big Pine Key is closer to the Courtyard Pool and feels like it's part of the main resort since it previously was. It's also closer to the main building, boat launch, bus stops, and MK walkway.

The villa building has the nice covered walkway which Big Pine Key does not and it's closer to a dedicated parking lot, but they are both lovely IMO. :cloud9:

Great question. I really didn't feel any advantage/disadvantage of either outside of the room that made a big difference to us as empty nesters.

I could see that the DVC 1 has its own vehicle pull up load/unload that's separate from the main entrance, so that's a plus. DVC 1 also has a nice lobby to enjoy with a cool penguin fountain.

Both are close to pools with DVC 2 being closer to the hot tub which we use. In DVC 1 we had lake view Studio in March and loved the nighttime view of the Poly and could see the Epcot fireworks and we saw a wedding in action which was fun to feel the happy vibes. So, if you're lake view, that was nice.

In the end, both are great, but until the DVC 1 has the updates of DVC2, we're staying at DVC 2.

To me, the biggest advantages of the Deluxe Studios are the Kitchenette, the Split Bath with 2 showers, and the much better proximity to parking (since we always drive).
We don't drive but that proximity to parking makes it way more convenient for grabbing a ride share or Minnie Van too.

As much as we use the kitchenette, the two double beds will come in handier. Also no parking needed and we rented a patio at the courtyard pool so all in all staying resort will probably work out better. But next time will try to grab the deluxe if possible. Like I said just very excited to finally be staying at the GF! Yay DVC!

This was on FB, so I took screen shots so I can share.

I'm thinking the GF Lobby renovation has gone back to the drawing board, as it was unceremoniously cancelled last year and there has not been a peep since...

would be nice if they could find a way to incorporate the GF orchestra into the space...

A fellow Diser was there recently and said CM’s told them “they don't think anything is happening in the lobby until next year. They also said that they heard the tea room returning should be announced soon as far as they know.” Does seem late for them to start now. I assume all the stores/restaurants will get an update first and lobby will be last. Bringing the Orchestra back would be wonderful. You can see that post HERE.

Absolutely loving GF so far in my first stay the resort and room and everything is awesome! What a great resort but…

The right elevator when looking at them in BPK seriously gives the Tower of Terror elevator a run for its money. Has it always felt like it’s about to snap and fall 5 stories? Other people who get on the elevator are saying the same thing!

But again besides that wow totally living up to the flagship name!

The Owners List on Page 1 has been updated!
First off, we can't thank you enough for your work on this thread, it's the best resource for VGF we've ever found. We're very happy to say we are new owners as of this year (my wife and I together at least, family has owned VGF for many years). Whenever convenient for you, we'd be proud to be added to the list!
