The Official VILLAS at DISNEYLAND HOTEL (Discovery Tower) Owners and Fans Info Thread

It’s an inverse Cabin/Bungalow problem…, so many people buy with the plan of banking/borrowing for a villa…. and the availability will only get more difficult as millions of points are sold every year….

We wanted a 1bd in early January…. but because of walkers we have 2 studios….
I think they have only declared about 1/2 of the inventory or so. This keeps the availability a bit sketchy. I don't know the rationale or how DVC determines when and how much to release. Rumor is that they get more for cash stays, but I have no way to confirm.

It’s all related to how many points they have sold. @ehh probably has a more detailed answer

Hello! Just bought 150 points at VDH! We own at AKL, too, but wanted some West Coast points, since it was so hard to get rooms at 7 months. I've always loved the nostalgia of staying at the Disneyland Hotel and the kind of retro vibe, plus love Trader Sam's and the monorail pool. Our first stay probably won't be until next year, but excited to get a chance to visit again in the not so distant future.
Yay!! Congrats!! Welcome Home

Yeah they are the refillable ones at VDH. I was curious if anyone knew if it still H2O or something else.

I ask because I have always gotten a “Disney rash”, except my last few trips to DL where we stayed at VDH. Here at WDW and I got the rash again. And since they have the old school H20 lotion in the travel tubes and I used it, Im wondering if I’m allergic.
Just wanted to update since I had mentioned it here. I took all my own stuff to WDW this time. I got the rash again. Not as bad but I think it’s because I was there less days. So it’s not the H2O I guess.

That’s unfortunate. Are you staying at the same resort? I wonder if it is certain plants around the resort? I get a rash if I am around certain plants, especially around my lower legs if I am wearing shorts.

This is interesting. I wonder if its the mineral oil or whatever is in the lotion heats up from intense FL sun . It doesn't get nearly as hot at DL so that could be it, but who knows!

Heat rash occurs when sweat gets trapped in the skin. Especially common in humid conditions
It is even called Disney Rash! Most often happens on the lower legs where socks trap the heat and moisture. My DW got it on our may trip to WDW. Not fun. Once it starts anything seems to just make it worse.

No different resorts.

It used to always happen to me at DLR too but the last few trips there it did not happen thats why I thought maybe the H20, wearing differnt types of sunscreen too. It didnt happen at Aulani.

The strange part is it only happens on upper chest and sides of my neck, nowhere else.

Only on neck and chest that are exposed. I wear jeans socks and tennis shoes nothing there.
Zyrtec might help
I bought Benedryl last trip for from the gift shop it didnt help except maybe the itchiness.

Anyone hit up the reserved DVC viewing area for Paint the Night? I'm curious as to where it is, and how big it is. I guess you have to get lanyards somewhere beforehand during the day?

(We don't like the Plaza Inn food options, so I'm thinking of canceling that reservation. Plus, the viewing area isn't so great.

That’s scary that Benadryl doesn’t work.

I get the same rash every year also. It is much worse in Florida than California for me. I think if it were just a few days, I would not have this problem. But our trips are 10 days. By about the fifth or sixth day, I start getting the rash. And it gets worse each day. By the end of the trip, I am miserable if the sun hits my arms since the sunlight makes it really itch. It is mainly just my arms and top of my hands. I do apply sunscreen, but only once before we leave the hotel for the day. I really hate having to mess with sunscreen. I am fair skinned. The once per day sunscreen application keeps me from getting burnt, but it does not prevent the rash. I am thinking next summer of buying clothing that is SPF like has been mentioned on these boards. I just don’t wanna get overly hot, so I don’t know if wearing a long-eeved white shirt would be better or worse. I want to avoid the rash, but not die of a heat stroke lol. And I have used a couple of different sunscreens and still always get the rash by the end of the trip.

I thought I may not get it since we didnt go hard at the parks this trip, it was more resort hopping. And only 2 nights 3 days. I am also very fair skinned. I have also done outdoor outings other places where sun hits me like Legoland, hiking etc. No rash then only at Disney, although it stopped in CA.
