The Official VILLAS at DISNEYLAND HOTEL (Discovery Tower) Owners and Fans Info Thread

When they built that entrance it was really pimped as an exclusive entry into DCA for Pixar Pier guests. (In fact, it was actually a "re-opening" of an old exclusive entrance only available to Pixar Pier guests that was closed when they built VGC). I think the signs have always said "Pixar Pier Hotel Guests Only", even though over time they did seem to let DLH guests in too.
I don't understand why not let DLH guests through if its more convenient for certain attractions? Is there a bottleneck?

I haven't cruised over there in a month or so. Were you able to see in? Did they add any coolers to the Coffee House in the remodel? Wondering if they added some space for refrigerated and frozen items for the tower. Even a little would be better than nothing.
We visited The Coffee House today. The coffee was good and the almond croissant was delicious, but it is very claustrophobic in there. If they refurbished to increase space I can’t imagine what it was like before. There is really only room for 2 or 3 people to wait for their drinks after ordering.

Hi, all! We will be checking in at VDH in 2 weeks and will be in a 1 bedroom villa. Plan on having breakfast in room and making dinner a couple nights. Does anyone have any pictures of the cookware and bakeware in the villas?

Thank you!
:thanks:

Now that we are home I thought I'd share some thoughts on VDH.

The thing that made VDH great to us, among other things, were the cast members. They were all so friendly and seemed genuinely appreciative that were were there. From the very first front desk cast member who worked to keep us in the same room on our back to back stays to one of the general managers (maybe...but a big wig) who talked to us when the Coffee House opened back up and gave us high fives since it was our first stay to the housekeeping staff, everybody was awesome.

Other positives -- the laid back vibe, the pool, the ability to walk to the parks, and the room. The studio seemed so spacious. It didn't hurt that we had a great view of the fireworks.

My negatives -- VDH not having it's own security area is a pain. I hope they do open up the old one and make it dedicated to hotel guests. We walked to VGC for the most part and used theirs. Also, the food. Don't get me wrong....Palm Breeze, Trader Sams, and Tangoroa are good, but they are all on the higher priced side for what they are.

But, we thoroughly enjoyed our 11 night stay and are a bit sad that we won't be back for 2 years.

So....any of you fellow VDH owners have a similar screen when booking a stay on the DVC site? Since I added VDH as a home resort, VGC has now started showing up also as a home resort....that I do not own. I haven't recently tried booking anything at VGC.

Did you by chance buy some one-time-use points? That's the only time I get different home resorts listed that I don't actually own

Ah yes I did! But it was for Aulani. Speculating but maybe the Aulani is run out of the west coast operations at Disneyland. When we were there, we could purchase the photo pass though Disneyland and use it in Aulani. I bet you're correct.

I’ve had both VGC and Aulani one time use points before (from the east coast). It just depends on which resorts they have available points for. It doesn’t correlate with the resort you are booking.

Agree. I've had OTU points from all over the place - Aulani, Riviera, AKL to name 3. No correlation whatsoever to the resort we booked. Just the luck of the draw at the day/ time you buy them.

Worth it to pay a little more to stay in a Deluxe Studio Garden vs. a Deluxe Studio Standard for a family of 5, ages 5/2 and 8 months?
I think so! That's where we stayed with my 3 year old. It was great to have the big balcony for him to play outside and very easy access to the pool! I also enjoyed being about to sit out on the balcony while he napped. We will probably stay in the Garden Studios from now on based off the balconies :)

Just checked in this morning, waiting for villa to be ready. Finally our first time in VDH.

The CM at registration said that TOT could be charged at end of trip. She did let me pay with my Disney gift cards.
