The Official T-Rex Cafe Thread!

There were quite a few little boys there - only one I saw dressed in a dino top and dino shorts -- I told Mark he dressed for the opening hehehe.

Aww that is so cute:goodvibes

I'm not sure if my grandson would like it or if he would be scared spitless. I think we will skip it in December and go in May instead. However if he sees it I know we will have to build a dino!

Just as a FYI, I called Build-A-Bear yesterday and your Stuff-4-Stuff certificates can be used at Build-A-Dino.

What is the 'ice room' and the 'warm' room?! Is it like the gorilla or elephant room at RFC?! Can you ask for which room you want?
Would love to see some more photos and hear some more reviews!!:lovestruc

Thanks for the updates. The place does look extremely cool! I am sure there will be adjustments as they get through the opening and settle in. :)

Will they be taking reservations or will it just be walkups
Thanks

DH and I went there today and oh my god was it awesome. We waited on line for 1 1/2 hours for it to open at 4PM (they were having a opening party for executives during the day). Thank god we waited on line when we did because at 3PM the line was around the restaurant and packed. We also got Opening Day pins from the manager of the restaurant which was unexpected.

We loved the layouts of the 4 dining rooms they had - Coral Reef room, The Forest room, The Sephoria Room (I think that is what it was called) and The Ice Cave. We were in the forest room and the details were amazing. We were sitting next to the Triceratops dino and he was so sool to look at. All the Dinosaurs were to the T and we loved the look of the ice cave room it is like dining in a real cave. There is a meteor shower every 20 mins which was cool and everything changed colors. The food was great no complaints. We had the Appetizer Sampler and I had the Teriyaki Salad and DH had the Steak and Cheese sandwhich. We ended up getting full and took some home it was that good. We didn't check out the whole place because of how busy it was but there is Build a Dino there too sort of like Build A Bear but you make Dinos. I am trying that when it calms down. Also a great shop to buy shirts and glasses.

I highly recommend going there when you are on vacation. It is a must see.

I can't wait to go in Nov!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1: Guess we will want to make sure that we are in line nice & early!

Ooooh, thanks for the report!! We're going to Disney from Oct 29th - Nov 5th and plan to go to this restaurant....my 4 year old will love it!

T-Rex Cafe is a definite on our April trip!!! My DD 4 loves dinosaurs, as did I when I was a little girl. So this will feed both of our loves. And she'll have to make a new friend for her Build-A-Bear Cheetah, Rose (who is also coming with us on the trip).

ParkSleuth, thanks for keeping us up to date on the opening! Yesterday was my DD's 4th birthday and I was so excited about also seeing the new T-Rex Cafe. And FYI, I don't think I have ever laughed as hard as I did as the video on your site of the Star Wars dance off. I literally had tears rolling out of my eyes I was laughing so hard. :lmao:

Is this restaurant near the Lego store and Goofy's in DTD?

Yes its on the lego side in-between Fultons and McDonalds

While the place was very well done...it was very loud
louder then the rainforest...and when the Meteor shower hits
it get louder...

We had fun...had some nice drinks and a few appetizers
food isnt anything to rave about (on par with the rainforest)
but you got for the atmosphere anyway

Sorry, I'm out of the loop. Where is the Trex restaurant?

Downtown disney right next to the Lego shop before pleasure Island starts. We were there end of Sept and it wasn't open. My son is a dinofreak, so we'll have to wait until next year.

Thanks for the report!!

I'd been planning on going there on our DTD day (dec 5th), and this just confirms that I will definitely need to take my dd's there, lol... they LOVE dinosaurs!

I can't speak for the one at Disney, but we've been to the one in Kansas a few different times. From what we've experienced, the food is fine. Not particularly memorable, but just fine. It's definately more of an atmosphere experience than a "My goodness that's a fantastic burger" kind of place.

That said, my 2 year old DD loves dinosaurs, and it about scared her pants off. We had to take her (untouched) food to go and get her out of there. She was already nervous, but actually handling it okay until the guy in the dino suit walked up to our table. She generally likes characters (well, Chuck E Cheese anyway) but she was pretty sure that "Sharptooth" was going to jump down and eat us all anyway, so when the guy in the dino suit came to our table, it was all over.

She did enjoy build a dino though. And rather than the cute pink Brontosaurus I thought she'd pick, she picked the Velociraptor with the 3 inch claws. She tends to sleep with him at night on occasion. I guess she figured he's a good guard dino.
