The Official Polynesian Resort FAQ thread!

This will be our first stay at Poly, so we know nothing about the particulars of the resort. We have a GV room, would you request a certain longhouse or just hope that you receive the best room possible. I understand that most of the buildings are just perfect, but is one or another better then all the rest? Any help would be appreciated. :sunny:

From what I hear, JPN, they are almost all great! Check out fellow Dis'er, Tikiman's website. He has a page for each longhouse and the positives and negatives. www.tikiman2001.homestead.com

Thanks, I'm on my way over to that site. :thumbsup2

Also, does anyone know if all the renovations have been completed at the Poly? Its my understanding, but I cannot confirm this, that all of the longhouses have now been completed and just Captain Cooks is under construction. :confused3

I keep updates on this page.

http://www.tikiman2001.homestead.com/poly2_55.html

Room renovations should be done around December and other things going on will be done next year. Tokelau is closed right now and Tahiti is to close in a matter of days (if they stay on schedule).

There will be some things done in the lobby including redoing the entire front desk area but no exact dates for that and it might go into next year.

Thank you Tikiman, and your site is GREAT!!! :thumbsup2 This will be our first time at the Poly. After reading your site, I don't think it will be the last. :goodvibes With all the construction coming to a close, is their one particular building that you would recommend for a GV room? :confused3

Tikiman answered this for me way back on this thread:

Well once every room is done and it is based on view and location I would have my list as #1 and #2 for garden views as this:

1. Tokelau for larger rooms, balconies on both upper floors, central location to everything and best of all many of the rooms have great lagoon views and even views of the fireworks and castle.
2. Samoa for its location and it has either a view of the quiet pool or of the Volcano pool with the lagoon off to the right. The corner room on the upper floors has a glimpse of the castle and fireworks.

Those are just my pics. Fiji is a great longhouse also. Just not my favorite. It would be the next on the list though.

Thank you so very much. You can't have enough information when you are trying a new resort.

You've got that right ;) !

Hey, we'll be there the exact same time as you!! If you see me (refer to pic in signature), tell me "hi"!!! I'd love to actually meet a DISer in person. We'll be at Poly from 12/9-12/12!

Thanks for the info guys. We are going in December also. Great advice on the longhouses. I was wondering if I should request a specific long house but was un-sure which one. Would hate to request a parking lot view room by accident.

Any rule of thumb between ground floor or balcony?

Just stopping by to say hi and subscribing. We leave soon and I can't wait!!!

It's only for one night... after our 7 night Magic Halloween Cruise next year... but I didn't want to take a chance to miss out.

We'll be off the ship and at the Poly by 10:00 a.m. with tickets for Magic Kingdom one day only since we really only have the one night... and plan on spending the next morning in the pool before we leave for the airport...

We walked through the Poly for the Lilo and Stitch breakfast in April and I fell in LOVE

I know this will spoil us forever to go back to the moderates but I love the atmosphere, the location, the different choices to get to MK - everything about it! :cloud9:

Am I nuts? :teeth:

I prefer Samoa 3rd floor facing the volcano pool. Not only so you get a great pool view but also a great lagoon view. All for a gardenview price!

There is much easier access to both pools from Samoa or even Rarotonga than from Fiji.
