We ahve 26 more days until labor day weekend trip! :dance3:

Kourtney, while I am going to be there for the first time this Sept/Oct, everything I have read has indicated that the answer to your question is yes. You can make yourself a glass of wine or grab a beer, soda, fruit juice and carry it back to your room or to the pool to enjoy it. :sunny:

Hello or should I say Aloha,

I already posted this question on the resort board but I thought I might get more feedback here. We are planning on visiting in May of 2007. I am leaning towards staying GVC and not doing the dining plan. It would be my husband, myself, and three girls who are not big eaters. We would probable do counter service for lunch most days. We also want one dinner at Ohana's as well as the character breakfast (it's my girls' favorite character meal).

I was also wondering if they serve beer in the concierge lounge. If so are you allowed to take it with you?

Thanks for the help. :earsboy: :earsgirl: princess: princess: princess:

looks like some of my questions were answered above. Sorry for being repetitive,

We are staying POLY GVC. Are you allowed to make a Drink and bring it down to the pool with you?

Well, the glasses can't be taken to the pool since they are ....glass. ;) There are small plastic ones for the juice and ice tea that I suppose you could use.

Someone asked about beer. It is served but again in glass bottles so you would not be able to take those to the pool either.

And in all cases you can only get one drink at a time.

Have fun everyone! :thumbsup2

We will arrive Thursday night around 11pm.... and leave Monday morning. So, we have Friday, Sat and Sunday.
My husband wanted to give me a party, but I said in jest, "you know, all I want is a weekend at the Polynesian" and he booked it that night.
I did not find out about it until a month ago, where he said .... ummmm..... by the way, we are going to Disney for your Birthday, and you have to decide where to Eat!

So, I got my wish AND the Dining Plan! .... oh, and NO KIDS!

My kids first day of school is Wednesday after Labor Day too!

Am planning a trip to Poly in 2010 when my grandaughter turns 6. Usually stay at sog but wanted to do something very special for her first trip to the world. DD has not been since 96 so i am breaking the bank and am trying for GVC rooms with patio. MY question is if i book far enough in advance what will be my chances of getting what want? :surfweb: :happytv: :moped:

That sounds like a way better deal than having a 40th birthday party!! Wish I had thought of that a few months ago!! :lmao:

I don't believe that rooms are assigned until 3-5 days before your arrival. Just make sure your request is noted on your reservation. That should be fine! Happy planning!

Hey Catrin, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! WOW, what a way to celebrate a Birthday! a trip to Disney and NO KIDS! my big 50 is comming up in three years so I may have to run a tape while the hubby is sleeping...you know, "you will take Helen to Disneyworld for her 50th birthday...no kids...." :rotfl2: or for a second choice, "you will take Helen on an Alaskan Cruise for her 50th birthday..no kids" :thumbsup2 anyway, Have a wonderful birthday!

Since I take TONS of pics we are bringing my laptop so we can upload them onto it each night and start out with a fresh camera everyday.

1 - Will the laptop fit in the safe?

2 - If not, can guest services place it in a different safe for me, allow me to get it, and bring it back later in the evening or next morning before we hit the parks?

And just a little pixie dust pixiedust: that construction on Tokelau is completed on time!

Just wanted to let those coming to the Poly that the coffee bar next to Kona is now open to 8PM. This might be temporary while the CC reno is going on.

We had GVC booked but they are installing headboards so some of the rooms are down. They put us Samoa but I wanted a smoking optional room so we are in Niue and it is fine. We have access to the lounge and all that stuff and Disney issued a credit. The staff has been great. I even needed tech support because I couldn't get online. Someone came right away and fixed the HSIA jack while we were having dinner. The computer companies could take a lesson.

In the "new" rooms, the safe seems designed for a laptop. Since everything that is open then should have the new design, you should be set. In the unlikely event yours doesn't fit, yes you could leave it with the front desk. :sunny:

jadedNYer, glad you're having a nice time. Anything new at the Polynesian?

I know there are Disney photographers at various places around WDW and I am looking forward to getting our photopass card with all the pics. Wondering if they have a photographer at the Poly? Maybe in the GCH?
