If he is that bummed out, I am sure one of us that is going in the next couple of weeks would be glad to pick one up and drop it in the mail for you.

It would be easy to do.

Let me know,

Ed

I just PM'd you. I would be more than happy to help you out. :thumbsup2

I just got an E-Mail from the IPO with all of my ADR's. SO far I am loving  POLY Concierge. I can't wait for our trip :cool1: :Pinkbounc

I was hoping to post sooner, but better late than never...we were at the Poly from 11/5 through 11/16 & we LOVED it!!!

We arrived approx. 11:30 & I thought I would check in and we would hang around the pool. Turns out we were able to get right into our rooms. We had connecting rooms, and when she told me they were ready I was really surprised. Then she said that we were going to be staying in Samoa. I asked her if it was possible to wait for a room in Tokelau, and then she was a little surprised! She said Samoa was the most requested longhouse & were we sure that we wanted to give it up. I told her we were sure, and we were still able to get into our rooms at Tokelau. We were placed in rooms 1928 & 1927 & when my cousin checked in a day later the terrific staff placed them in 1926!

Minor problems - 2 lights were out in the bathroom, but maintenance replaced them less than 10 minutes after we called them. The other problem was with the refrigerators. After having 2 refrigerators replaced, long story short - the new cabinets, although beautiful, they don't offer any ventillation. This in turn causes the refrigerator to overheat & the safety feature turns it off. So we always made sure to leave the doors open when we weren't in the room, and kept one of them open when we were in the room.

Captain Cooks was still in the temp location when we were there, but it was fine for us. The only problem we had was with breakfast. All DS wanted was a Mickey waffle. Turns out they don't offer them for children - go figure - the only children's CS option there was scrambled eggs, bacon & toast, but Adults can order 3 waffles?!? I asked if it was possible to get 1 waffle in place of the entire children's platter & was told no. I asked if I could speak to a manager & once she came out she was very rude & told me that absolutely not could he have a waffle. Even the people behind us thought she was very rude. I wound up paying OOP for them. I did go to guest services later in the day & told them how rude the manager was at CC's. A wonderful woman named Cati told me that if DS wanted waffles to get them for him, everyday if we wanted & have them charged back to the room, and then bring back the receipt & they would take off the charge & then adjust the CS credits. She also thought it was ridiculous that they would offer Mickey Mouse waffles for adults only. We wound up doing this two other times & did not have a problem. One thing we loved from CC's was the aloha pork sandwhich - very tasty!

That was the only problem we had. Every other staff member we met was wonderful.

We had 2 meals at Ohana's, one dinner & the character breakfast - both were terrific. We also had one breakfast at Kona, but to be honest, CC's was just as good - even the tonga toast. In hindsight we should've went to Kona's for dinner - oh well, there's always a next time right???

We were a little disappointed that the Poly wasn't decorated for xmas, but we were told that the hotels on the monorail line are decorated in order, which changes each year, and this year the GF went first. It was a great trip none the less.

Thanks to everyone on this board who answered all my questions & gave me advice. A special thanks to Tikiman - you're site is awesome!!! I used Lisa from MV & she really made our truly magical. I wish we could attend Tikifest, but unless we win the lottery, we won't be able to make it this year!

Thanks so much for your report, Jerseygirl! We will be there in January for the first time and are so looking forward to it!

Great report JerseyGirl! I can make my ADR's in six days and I'm starting to get so excited!

I'm glad you experienced minimal problems and twice as glad to hear that the management was understanding and went out of their way to accommodate you!

I agree; Micky waffles for adults and not for children? Very strange! :confused3

To Luau or Not to Luau?

Hi everyone, I am planning a spring break trip for our group of 5, grandma grandpa myself ds13 and dd 21months. We are evenly split on the Luau question - the baby didn't vote :) Any opinions here?

Thanks for the report. Can you tell us why Kona's instead?

Thanks,

Maz :joker:

We are also considering to Luau. Also wondering if we should do Luau and Ohanas we all loved Ohana's the last time. It will be my husband and I along with three girls 6,9, and 3.

Does anyone know when the pools close, or when "quiet time" begins?

TIA!

Leaving tomorrow!!

We did both and enjoed them both-- they are really very different even if they sound similar.

The food is a little bit better at Ohanas, although they both offer yummy food in large portions. The food is similar with the emphasis on bbq, but, just spread them out so you won't feel you are eating the same thing twice!

My DD4 did not get into the games at Ohana. Lots of kids did. It was not easy to watch what was going on because its very crowded in there. So there isn't really a feeling of a dinner show at all. Maybe if you are sitting right next to the action.

The Luau is not really audience participation much at all (except for one second halfway thru when they call people, up on stage) and.. its not that geared to little kids, actually. As much as we like it (and we DO) I find the hurry up and wait aspect of it really annoying. We got our tix in advance from the concierge, so we got there only about 20 minutes early (as opposed to the full 45 min early last time) only to find a HUGE line. There didn't appear to be a different line for folks with tickets and without tickets. We also never got our photo to look at, but no biggie. Then, when we got to the waiting garden area, there is very little seating and the cash bar (some folks were SUPER AGGRAVATED by that cash thing-- you really don't carry cash most of the time at WDW) had ridiculously long lines, and you think they would have planned for it better, AND the cash bar only offered beer and wine which I think is a change and an unwelcome one because I don't mix what I drink and most adults I know don't either-- so I didn't get a drink at all since I didn't ant to be drinking wine and switching to a tropical drink once I got inside. Last year I remember drinking a vodka tonic while waiting... but that might not be an issue for everyone... and so, then you wait around, with no entertainment and little seating, in the dark. Not my daughter's finest hour. AND-- all the anticipation had her so wound up-- she fell asleep 5 minutes into the show. Which she had been so eager to see all week. So, we were a little disappointed but that was our fault, I guess-- usually she can stay up til 10 if she is doing something fun, but at the end of a week at Disney she was out by 8:15.

I saw a LOT of cranky kids during the waiting AND a lot of sleeping kids in the start of the show. I wonder if some bad reviews of this dinner show are reflecting the whole hurry-up-then-wait-in-the-nearly-pitch-dark aspect of the preshow time.

This makes it sound like we disliked it-- we actually LOVE it and plan to go back next year and hopefully DD will stay awake for it. Maybe we can get a resveration for the earlier show next time.

If you *do* go-- let your girls dress up in hula girl garb. DD loved that and got a LOT of attention because hardly any girls did that.

"Lifeguard hours are subject to change" to quote the Island Palm Press. When there are no lifeguards are on duty, the slide is shut down.

If you are quiet, I think you can swim whenever you want.

There are no "quiet hurs" per se but I think everyone just tries to be considerate. Since little ones can be in bed by 8pm and others sleep in, I would think 8-8 or 9 would be reasonable?

Is there anyone who is checking into the Poly tomorrow or Friday who did advance check-in? I'd love to hear a report on how that goes. We check-in Dec 4, and I think I may call on the 1st or 2nd. I was hoping to hear a report from some hearty soul who would let us know how it went (from the Poly)! :)
